Wikidata Infobox for categorys in de:WP

Hello Mike, some colleagues (and me) would like to use the interconnections and additional informations which are provided by this very nice Wikidata-Infoboxes for category’s on Commons. Just to check out, how far this can be transferred, I installed some of the templates etc. within de:WP. It is nearly operational(?) ... but it might need some adjustments. Please see the test in Kategorie:Fahrzeug. In would be very nice, if you can have a look and try to fix it. Best --Tom (talk) 14:22, 9 September 2019 (UTC)

Hello Mike, just to let you know: it is working now[1] after some more templates/modules I had to transfer additionally due to the nested structure. Based on this working example I'll try to develop a derivate only for categorys (without commons-upload-function). Best --Tom (talk) 06:27, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

@Tom: That's great, have fun with it! Sorry for not replying quicker, I'm busy in real life at the moment. In de:Vorlage:Wikidata Infobox there's a switch "conf_upload = yes" - set that to "no" to turn off the upload link. There are also other switches you might find useful. I'd encourage you to keep in sync with commons:Template:Wikidata Infobox/sandbox (and commons:Template:Wikidata Infobox/core/sandbox) both by copying changes over from there every so often, and copying the changes you make on dewp back there. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 06:54, 10 September 2019 (UTC)
Thx so much! Very helpful. Made it live for test purposes in de:Kategorie:Ballistik. Best --Tom (talk) 07:07, 10 September 2019 (UTC)

I support a merger of both articles as they obviously refer to the same person, but be aware that the actual name, as sourced by soccerway, seems to be Junior Chikwubuike Adamu [[2]] and in reports like this: [3] he is just referred to as Junior Adamu, so I guess the article title should either be Junior Adamu or Junior Chikwubuike Adamu. --Proofreader (talk) 08:44, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

@Proofreader: It's not my area, so tagging it as something to merge is all I can do. :-) I only spotted it as they both link to the same Commons category. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 10:03, 16 September 2019 (UTC)
Well, it's not my area of expertise either and I also more or less stumbled across it during cleanup and maintenance work. I'll just leave a comment on the name on the respective talk pages then and leave it to the experts to sort that out. --Proofreader (talk) 10:11, 16 September 2019 (UTC)

Hi Mike a completely non-urgent question. I’m trying to deorphan this article and wonder if List of software for astronomy research and education would be a good target. I just wondered if you knew anything about the software that would help me link no it to something appropriate. Many thanks. Mccapra (talk) 05:58, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

@Mccapra: I've not heard of it before. It looks like it was written in ~2002 until 2006, and last maintained in ~2012. Its scientific publication seems to have 1 citation. To be honest, it's probably best taken to AfD. Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 06:05, 30 September 2019 (UTC)
Great thanks a Mike. Mccapra (talk) 06:07, 30 September 2019 (UTC)

Thanks

...for fixing broken links pointing to Commons! I don't know if you are aware of my maintenance lists User:Achim55/Bad links to pages on Commons. I fixed links on several wikis by hand or using AWB, but now I just noticed that you are running a powerful bot which might be interested in working on User:Achim55/Links to redirecting pages on Commons. Yes, I know, a lot of broken links are caused by templates and are not that easy to fix, but simple links to Commons could be done by bot I think. Cheers, --Achim (talk) 20:17, 1 October 2019 (UTC)

@Achim55: Thanks for noticing! I'm running Wikipedia:Bots/Requests for approval/Pi bot 4 for the obvious cases, but otherwise I'm working through subcategories of Category:Commons category Wikidata tracking categories using a pywikibot script that needs manual approval before saving the change (along the lines of AWB). If there are patterns that can be automatically fixed by bot, then I'm happy to code them up - but most cases I'm working through at the moment seem to be more complicated / politically complicated (it would be nice to just use the Commons sitelinks via Wikidata where there is a conflict, but I'm not sure that would go down too well here...). I will have a look at your maintenance lists soon, though, since there are caching issues with the tracking categories! Thanks. Mike Peel (talk) 20:29, 1 October 2019 (UTC)
