Response from my talk page

[edit]

This edit is vandalism, because it is changing the facts of the article. If someone is charged with something, as the source shows, then it is not "alleged". The article has gotten an excessive amount of vandalism in the past few days because of the trial. If you wish to change something in the article, I would advise that you discuss it first on the talk page, so others won't see it as vandalism. SilverserenC 07:25, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

That is incorrect. If someone is charged with something it is an alleged crime, until proven in court!

From the dictionary - 'Charged'. To make a claim of wrongdoing against; accuse or blame: The police charged him with car theft

Alleged: al·leged (-ljd, -ljd) adj. Represented as existing or as being as described but not so proved; supposed.

Usage Note: An alleged burglar is someone who has been accused of being a burglar but against whom no charges have been proved. An alleged incident is an event that is said to have taken place but has not yet been verified. In their zeal to protect the rights of the accused, newspapers and law enforcement officials sometimes misuse alleged. Someone arrested for murder may be only an alleged murderer, for example, but is a real, not an alleged, suspect in that his or her status as a suspect is not in doubt. Similarly, if the money from a safe is known to have been stolen and not merely mislaid, then we may safely speak of a theft without having to qualify our description with alleged.

  • I apologize. I assumed your actions yesterday were vandalism and POV pushing because of all the other vandalism that was occurring. I was mistaken. Your edit has been added back in. SilverserenC 21:44, 28 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you.

Speedy deletion nomination of Georgia Merry

[edit]

Hello Mikeetg,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Georgia Merry for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly say why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Maharayamui (talk) 01:06, 1 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Georgia Merry requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Dahl

[edit]

Probably should have put this here. The Walt Disney article is not flooded with quotes about Jews, and there are many. It's undue weight to do so. It covers Dahl's bigoted and ill informed comments, and contextualizes them in that they weren't consistent. Outside his family Isiah Berlin knew him better than anyone, and gave a summation of his character, as did the director of his museum. GBallag (talk) 17:59, 15 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]
