Welcome!

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! --Demiurge1000 (talk) 20:09, 18 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

MicroStrategy[edit]

Hello, Mikefromnyc. I just saw that you've added a warning template to the top of the MicroStrategy article while also removing the external links section and categories from the bottom of the page. As you may know, I am a representative of the company on Wikipedia, and I have been working for some time in conjunction with the community to improve this article. In that time, I have made no edits to the article itself, instead seeking consensus for changes that others have made.

Very recently, multiple volunteer editors have reviewed and approved the current version of the article; in fact it has been written with great care to avoid being like an advertisement. If you disagree, the best thing would be to express those concerns on the Talk page. Finally, a single external link to the company's article is perfectly acceptable under Wikipedia's External links guideline, and is a very common feature of such Wikipedia articles.

With the above in mind, would you consider reverting your recent changes to this article? WWB Too (Talk · COI) 01:15, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Mikefromnyc response: Wikipedia is NOT an advertising platform, is it? If advertisements are permitted then Wikipedia should remove their request for donations and charge advertisers such as MicroStratey, Ciphercloud, and all the others. Mikefromnyc (talk) 16:03, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

ANI notice[edit]

Hello. There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. SilverserenC 02:27, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please move your response to here. SilverserenC 19:48, 12 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

WebWatcher[edit]

Hi Mikefromnyc: I removed your PROD notice from WebWatcher, since although the article needs more third-party references, I do not believe it would be an uncontroversial deletion. As I said in response to you on the talkpage, if you believe an article topic is not notable enough for a Wikipedia article, you should file an AfD on it so the issue can be discussed and a determination made, not blank sections of it; however, you should be aware that companies and their products are perfectly legitimate topics for encyclopedic articles; see WP:CORP for the applicable notability standard. I think you are operating from a different definition of promotional editing than we use. Feel free to nominate the article for deletion, and we'll find out. But I would suggest that you appear at the ANI thread referenced above, since people there are kind of waiting for your side and there you would be able to talk about policy with more than just me. August 2013[edit]

Information icon Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I wanted to let you know that I undid one or more of your recent contributions to CoSoSys because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, you can use the sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Materialscientist (talk) 13:48, 5 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I see that you tried to nominate that article for deletion. I completed it for you. In the future, I suggest to use WP:TW, it relieves some burden. I do agree that the article's notability is not very well established here. That said, the topic being a for-profit company is not a reason for deletion (no one wants to delete The Coca-Cola Company for example), and sounding like an advertisement is not usually in itself a reason for deletion (except for cases when {{db-advert}} applies). Please make sure you understand the WP:GNG, and WP:COMPANY. Otherwise, welcome to the discussion. Thank you. Keφr 07:27, 6 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you intend to complete an AFD nomination for this article, you need to use the proper tag for a second nomination: {{subst:afdx|2nd}}

Cheers, postdlf (talk) 15:26, 25 September 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Also, once a discussion has been closed, please do not put the deletion template back on the article. Thanks, Ansh666 20:41, 15 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The deletion was placed back up as Ciphercloud page was deleted and their marketing team created another page. User:Mikefromnyc

October 2013[edit]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to CipherCloud may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • Filed on Sept. 6, 2013 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut; <ref>[http://news.priorsmart.com/protegrity-v-ciphercloud-l94Z/</ref>

October 2019[edit]

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Data loss prevention software. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. [1] MrOllie (talk) 17:36, 8 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Because Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. MrOllie (talk) 19:31, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

On a related note, if there is copyrighted text in the article, that is a copyright violation whether you put a reference link in or not. You should identify the text you think is copyright encumbered on Talk:Data_loss_prevention_software so it can be removed rather than adding a promotional external link, which does nothing to ameliorate copyright problems. - MrOllie (talk) 19:34, 11 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
