Re: picture for Corlea Trackway[edit]

Hey thanks for the offer! All you have to do to allow the image to be used on Wikipedia is change the license on Flickr to either the the either the Creative Commons Attribution license or the Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike license. (info on the licenses and can be found here) To do this (I'm assuming you already know how to do this, but I want to make sure :) ), go the pic's "primary page" on Flickr and click "edit" next to the "© All rights reserved" in the "Additional information" on the right side of the page. You will then see a bunch of radio buttons with different licenses you can use. Also, although there are licenses there other than the two mentioned above, Wikipedia can only use images from Flickr that are licensed under those two. (more info on the Wikipedia image use policy can be found here) As for which of the two licenses to use, that depends on whether you want other people to be allowed to make derivative works (ie. crop/touch up/modify the image) legally. The first license (Creative Commons Attribution) means that (quoted from the Wikipedia article) "Licensees may copy, distribute, display and perform the work and make derivative works based on it only if they give the author or licensor the credits in the manner specified by these." the other one (Creative Commons Attribution ShareAlike) is basically the same as the first with the added stipulation that all users of the image must license derivative works under a free license. (this means that company "X" can't use your image or a derivative work of it (even if they credit you for the image) unless they also allow their image to be used for any purpose) As to which license to use, that's totally up to you, but if I were you, I'd probably use the latter one (CC Attribution ShareAlike). After you change the license, either I will transfer the image to Wikipedia, or I can tell you how to do it. (Again, it's up to you whether you do it or I do it, but I will tell you, it is a little complicated.) An example of an image that has been transferred from Flickr to Wikipedia can be found here and that image in an article here. I hope this help. Thingg 21:11, 8 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks! The image's page is here. You can see it in the article here. Thanks a lot for allowing the image to be used on Wikipedia. I really appreciate it! Thingg 14:37, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
