File:Morse_Code_Crib_Sheet.svg changes
Hi there, there appears to be a recent change to this file that removed the licence data, which may violate the cc-by-sa under which the file was uploaded. Also the page size was changed from A4. Is there a rationale behind this? Chumpih t 05:24, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- @Chumpih: Good day. The license was probably removed accidentally. Thanks for adding it back. As for the page size, I don't see any indication that it was changed. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 05:27, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- Ok, no worries. Re. the page size, it was, according to the diff changed from 210mm x 297mm to 744 x 1052 (units unspecified). Again, now reverted. And may I ask what was the goal of your edit here?Chumpih t 05:38, 05:42, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- There is a SVG error within the file. See https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/archive/9/92/20231117054232%21Morse_Code_Crib_Sheet.svg .--Minorax«¦talk¦» 05:44, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- Providing the open-source font 'source sans pro regular.ttf' is available, the rendering works. The .png rendering of the image is the one that gets included on other pages. Was the goal to correct this mis-registration against the substituted font? Chumpih t 06:09, 17 November 2023 (UTC)
- Linked the incorrect stuff, it's https://validator.w3.org/nu/?doc=https%3A%2F%2Fupload.wikimedia.org%2Fwikipedia%2Fen%2Farchive%2F9%2F92%2F20231117054232%2521Morse_Code_Crib_Sheet.svg . Apparently

, as such, I've removed it. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 06:12, 17 November 2023 (UTC)- Thanks very much for the explanation! The grid might help if someone were to use Inkscape to do future edits, and is benign otherwise, as far as I can see. But fair enough. Thanks again. Chumpih t 06:22, 17 November 2023 (UTC)

File work
Hello, Minorax,
You have really been busy working with files on the project. Tonight, there were 130 files in Category:Non-free files with orphaned versions more than 7 days old needing human review to review, all of which were files that were improved by you which needed previous versions of the files deleted. I guess your interests moved on from PRODs? I don't understand how to edit files/images so I'm glad that other editors focus on improving the images we have in articles. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 02:50, 21 November 2023 (UTC)
Hello, you seem to have messed up the RSVG rendering of this file. Jonteemil (talk) 22:45, 21 November 2023 (UTC)

Le Tour de la Question
Hello. I'm wondering why Le Tour de la Question (Ange album) moved to Le Tour De La Question (Ange album). MOS:FRENCHCAPS seems to recommend that "de la" (and perhaps even "question") be lowercase, but I'm no expert. Talk:Le Tour de la Question (Ange album) hasn't moved, which is how I stumbled across the discrepancy. Any thoughts? Certes (talk) 21:09, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
- I've followed the original name of the page so I have no issues if someone wants to move it to another title with a different letter case. For the talk page, it's probably an error I didn't notice. Fixing it soon.. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 12:45, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
- I would move the article rather than the talk page. One of the references uses De La, but I think it's automatically generated as it reads "...de Le Tour..." which anyone with first-year French would combine as "du Tour" (even in proper nouns, e.g. 24 heures du Mans). Certes (talk) 13:15, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
- So move to Le Tour de la Question (Ange album)? --Minorax«¦talk¦» 13:20, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
- I would think so, but I'm not a Francophone. Is there an expert we can ask? Certes (talk) 17:07, 22 November 2023 (UTC)
- I'm not really sure, the best place I can think of is Wikipedia talk:WikiProject France. --Minorax«¦talk¦» 02:40, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
- Thanks; I'll ask there. Certes (talk) 12:11, 23 November 2023 (UTC)
- As a Francophone, I would say Le Tour de la question. (see this example of another album with the same title, or this, or this). Frenchl (talk) 21:24, 24 November 2023 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – December 2023
News and updates for administrators from the past month (November 2023).
- Following a talk page discussion, the Administrators' accountability policy has been updated to note that while it is considered best practice for administrators to have notifications (pings) enabled, this is not mandatory. Administrators who do not use notifications are now strongly encouraged to indicate this on their user page.
- Following a motion, the Extended Confirmed Restriction has been amended, removing the allowance for non-extended-confirmed editors to post constructive comments on the "Talk:" namespace. Now, non-extended-confirmed editors may use the "Talk:" namespace solely to make edit requests related to articles within the topic area, provided that their actions are not disruptive.
- The Arbitration Committee has announced a call for Checkusers and Oversighters, stating that it will currently be accepting applications for CheckUser and/or Oversight permissions at any point in the year.
- Eligible users are invited to vote on candidates for the Arbitration Committee until 23:59 December 11, 2023 (UTC). Candidate statements can be seen here.

Sigh
I guess my pleas had no effect. Tonight we have 153 files that needed to each be reviewed by a human editor. Each review doesn't take a lot of time but someone has to do it and it's usually me and sometimes Explicit helps. It's just a task that needs to be done when there is other work I'd prefer to be doing. Happy holidays. Liz Read! Talk! 02:37, 10 December 2023 (UTC)
- Dear, dear, Minorax,
- I didn't mean by this message that I don't appreciate your work with files. It is very valuable and I hope you don't stop. It was simply that it would be preferable if we had somewhere around 10-50 F5 files to review and rescale each night, not 100+ images/day. But I want you to continue the good work you are doing and I hope you didn't find this message discouraging. Thanks again and I hope you have a nice holiday season. Liz Read! Summaries for file edits
Hi Minorax! I noticed that you've been making a lot of edits to file pages recently, e.g. Special:diff/1190892740. Thanks for doing this work, but I'd appreciate it if you could consider using edit summaries, which will help reduce the amount of time other editors have to spend verifying your work. Your edits are reducing the page size of these files, and that combined with no edit summary is often enough red flags that people will click through from their watchlist. An edit summary that makes it clear that you're an experienced editor just doing non-controversial technical maintenance will prevent them from wasting their time by doing so. Cheers, {{u|Sdkb}} talk 17:55, 20 December 2023 (UTC)
