Hello Minusjason, nice to meet you! I agree with you that her numbers are unrealistic - as most of the numbers floating around. But I think there are two different aspects: What is the real, realistic number, versus which numbers were reported (even if they are unrealistic). The wording of the intro reads to me that it is about the various reported numbers, not about the real number. If the intro would be only about what is known about the real number, then it should stick to the best scientific calculation (and not to in passing comments of some reporters, see my opening statement of the mediation). If you are interested, I suggest that you participate the mediation! (It's not about me to decide, but we can put it forward to the mediator.) 82.135.29.209 (talk) 22:42, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I reported your interest into this subject to the moderator. I think this is the best way not only because also the intro is officially part of the mediation, but also because I think then you can best contribute to the discussion. I would very much welcome your participation! 82.135.29.209 (talk) 22:48, 31 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

SPI

[edit]

Hi Minusjason. Since NYyankees51 is a notorious sock, I started Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/NYyankees51 to establish clarity. If the suspicion is wrong, then sorry for that. 82.135.29.209 (talk) 21:26, 2 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This is all terribly amusing

[edit]

Ha! Since I know you're not me, and you know I'm not you, I figure we might as well get along. It looks like we both stumbled across the nonsense over at Restoring Honor rally around the same time, then got dragged into some ridiculous ongoing wiki-battle. Hey, it wouldn't be Wikipedia without time-wasting wiki-detectives, wiki-lawyers, and process wonks! Top1Percent (talk) 03:06, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Glad it's amusing to someone. Apparently the logic around here is that if multiple people keep making the same edit, they must be the same person. Also apparently I am using a proxy server... who knew? I wonder if there's anything else they want to tell me about myself. What a to-do over such an obvious edit. This is a real turn-off to me. Minusjason (talk) 03:50, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I just don't get the part where you and I, who've both tried to eliminate the WP:UNDUE Bachmann bullshit from the article, are socks of the guy who worked so hard to insert it in the first place. It's like watching a room filled with people claiming that the sky is green and grass is blue, who all nod sage-like at each other the whole time without ever actually looking outside. I wasn't actually planning to edit much right now, but this is just too hilarious to pass up. Once this inept sockpuppet investigation is closed -- I'm probably the one they think is on a proxy, not you, and if so it's because the CU is an amateur -- I'd be glad to join you in restoring some sanity to Restoring Honor. (NOTE: Even though Jason and I are socks of each other, we/I like our/my own company so much that we roleplay entire conversations alone on obscure Wikipedia pages. I suspect it's because our/my mother neglected us/me as a child. Alas, life is so cruel.) Top1Percent (talk) 04:30, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Are you sure BS24 is opposing us on this? If you look at this edit, it looks like he/she is going with 500,000 as the upper limit. I don't know, I am still very new at this so maybe I am missing something. I did have an interest in fixing the article, but this BS is really annoying to me. I think I might just say to hell with it, they're going to work it out eventually with or without me. AzureCitizen directly accused me of using a proxy. Man, I don't even know how to set one up. This is what my experience has been since registering and trying to contribute.
On the subject of this conversation we are having... perhaps we/I are only doing this to throw them off our/my trail? Or maybe we are multiple personalities of the same person, who is currently behind 12 proxies. At least both personalities can see that if we start including everything Michele Bachmann says in the media as a media report, Wikipedia will go to hell. Hi Minusjason. I just would like to refer to to my answer to Top1Percent at User_talk:82.135.29.209#Explain; I would say the same to you. There is really no bad intention here, I was just interested into removing all doubts and get a clear yes-or-no answer after all this BS24 chaos. Again, sorry if my sock suspicion is wrong. Ok for you? 82.135.29.209 (talk) 08:34, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

By the way, I also was accused of being a sock. But also after this SPI, my life is still the same as before, and also Wikipedia didn't go to hell. 82.135.29.209 (talk) 08:44, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Then I wish you'd thought twice about starting one for me. I didn't edit-war or anything; after you reverted my edit, I discussed it with you in the talk pages. I was about to try to jump into the moderation and then you opened all this up for me. Not cool. I understand and sympathize that you were just trying to guard against sockpuppets but you could have talked to me about it beforehand. We were already talking.
Also clearly I wasn't talking about Wikipedia going to hell because of SPIs, but rather, making a comment on reporting something said IN the media as a media report. Minusjason (talk) 09:18, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
You are right with all your points. Indeed, I didn't think too much about it, and I thought getting an answer quickly via this checkuser SPI. But for interest, do you have a longer Wikipedia history beside Minusjason? 82.135.29.209 (talk) 10:49, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I still think it would be great if you step in this mediation! 82.135.29.209 (talk) 10:51, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate your honesty. With regard to my Wikipedia history, I have not registered any usernames before this one. I did make occasional edits previously on multiple different computers, the IPs of which I am not aware. I don't remember any specific edits I made but they were nearly always, if not always, just grammar and punctuation fixes, stuff like that. I stopped doing so maybe a year and a half ago because I didn't want my IP to be displayed any more. As a result of the limited scope of my editing, I am relatively unfamiliar with some Wikipedia conventions (since you started the SPI I've learned how to link to webpages and other users) but I have been visiting the site since probably 2002 or 2003. Minusjason (talk) 15:25, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the offer regarding the mediation but, if I can be frank, the reason I didn't register a username for so long was to avoid headaches like this "investigation" that was started on me just days after I registered. I think the next day, in fact. I no longer wish to participate. Minusjason (talk) 15:25, 4 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
