The "Metabox" that I think you are referring to is Template:Infobox Newspaper. Take a look at the one for the Washington Post. You certainly don't need to provide all the fields that the Washington Post does, but it is a way to put into that type of box. Nice Article.Naraht (talk) 23:33, 17 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Do you want me to add that infobox?Naraht (talk) 20:09, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Actually I am just getting ready to do it. Once I have it up it would be great if you would check it and tweak it! Thanks. Mjohnson145 (talk) 20:35, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

OK I tried to create the following infobox but when I put it in and previewed it I got errors. Can you check my work here and add it? Thanks!

OK, Two options above. The first using Template:Infobox Magazine, the second using Template:Infobox Newspaper. Each has its advantages and disadvantages for what you need. Comments:

  1. The ISSN that the magazine used was wrong. the preview when I got the ISSN added complained and the 0749-9596 has the wrong check digit (See ISSN)
  2. The templates do differ a lot, and the text on the left has to be exact. For example magazine expects lower case issn= and the newspaper upper case ISSN=
  3. Unclear whether the maximum circulation is 6 thousand or 60 thousand.
  4. Some of the fields, it was unclear to be which is better, for example is 1980 the founding, the date of the first issue or both. It is perfectly appropriate to include both with the same information
  5. Start date and age template is common, but could be replaced with the start date template if you think it looks better. The Newspaper infobox recomments the "and age".
  6. Take a look at the additional fields of the two templates at Template:Infobox Magazine, & Template:Infobox Newspaper that may help you decide what you want to add
  7. Yes, the templates can be changed, but both are used in over 5000 pages apiece, so suggestions should go on the talk pages for the templates and be prepared for a *long* discussion before people are confident to make the changes, and let someone else make the changes, being a template editor is almost an additional level of privileges.

Thanks for the help. I think, given that the parameters are pretty much fixed for the two types, that the magazine template works better, so I took the one you'd fixed and dealt with the issues you raised and also broke down the editor section as the template indicated could be done. Weird about the ISSN. The masthead on the print issues shows the ISSN I used but I see changing it takes one to the correct link, so... whatever works. I'm going to stick this up on the page now. If you see any problems I missed please let me know. Again thanks for the help. Mjohnson145 (talk) 20:34, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted the comment about firstdate vs. founded since you'd decide on one in what you had here. No clude about the ISSN, but it is impossible for an ISSN to exist with what was on the masthead, the check digit would have been wrong (0749-9690 would be valid). Naraht (talk) 21:28, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Addenda: Now that it is up on the page, I notice that the bottom of the page has categories including <Magazines established in 1980>- which I clicked on and did NOT see The Rag. I assume that these category pages are automatically populated from infobox data and so eventually The Rag will show up in the appropriate categories. If this is NOT correct and I need to do something, please advise. Thanks again. Mjohnson145 (talk) 20:44, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

It is there in the list, but listed under "T" for "The", it is unclear to me if it should be sorted under T or D. If it should be listed under D, let me know if *all* categories should have it sorted by D or just a few. (There is a one by one change as well as an overall way to do it) They are not populated by the infobox, prior version had them as well, there are some templates that if used on a page cause the page to be in specific categories, but that doesn't apply to this one.Naraht (talk) 21:28, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
(Also, to show categories in text without causing the page to be in that category use a colon immediately after the second left bracket. So the text [[:Category:Roses]] shows up as Category:Roses.Naraht (talk) 21:30, 8 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

This image is being used on the page. It is linked to this sentence under the section <content>: <<The Wall Street Journal told readers about the "wheelchair-riding rodent who, irked at having his handicapped-parking space swiped, blows up the offending vehicle.">> Mjohnson145 (talk) 22:31, 25 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not seeing it.
And just as an aside, any user whose name ends in "bot" is an automated program...Naraht (talk) 02:40, 26 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you go to The Disability Rag page, search for the phrase <blows up the offending vehicle>. You will see that it is hotlinked to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Disability_Rat_Tries_to_Ride_Again.jpg - thus, this is not an orphaned image. And I realize the bot is an automated program; it is not clear to me how to 'challenge' a bot decision such as 'this will be removed by xx day' when in fact it was not orphaned. So I posted the comment here. Not sure the best place to ask questions like this. Mjohnson145 (talk) 13:30, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, linked. That's not the same as being used in the article. It needs to be used. Probably the easiest way is to simply include it in the article next to the paragraph.Naraht (talk) 15:17, 1 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ah - thank you. I did not understand that distinction. I've fixed it. You have been very helpful. Mjohnson145 (talk) 16:55, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
