Technical news

  • Unregistered editors using the mobile website are now able to receive notices to indicate they have talk page messages. The notice looks similar to what is already present on desktop, and will be displayed on when viewing any page except mainspace and when editing any page. (T284642)
  • The limit on the number of emails a user can send per day has been made global instead of per-wiki to help prevent abuse. (T293866)

Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled

A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:06, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

Hello,

Just following up on why my edit on 95.7 FM was reverted (no harm, I promise!)

I know that the station's primary callsign is WROC AM, but they do have a 95.7 FM signal. Would it be alright to add it back with a note saying that 95.7 is the FM frequency of this station? The station is currently branded as 95.7 The Fan and was formerly ESPN 95.7 Rochester.

Thanks, WuTang94 (talk) 05:16, 11 December 2021 (UTC)

Perfectly reasonable question – should probably have given a better edit summary. The 95.7 FM signal is broadcast translator W239BF, which is rebroadcasting the WROC signal; the convention for these frequency lists is that we only include fully-licensed radio stations themselves. If you look at the United States section of that page, you'll see that it's all call signs in the KABC or WBCD-FM format; no translators.
If you look at the 950 AM page, WROC is listed there, as that's its licensed frequency. Mlaffs (talk) 15:28, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
Fair enough, if that simplifies things. Thanks!--WuTang94 (talk) 18:42, 11 December 2021 (UTC)
