WMTO-LP
I think WMTO-LP continues to broadcast on 87.7 per this article from RadioInsight. I don't know much about the "Franken-FMs", since I don't have one in my area (except that one out of DC that occasionally comes in). To me, though, the way I read this, is that when they get this STA, they can continue broadcasting on 87.7 and be in digital. Technically how that is possible, I haven't the slightest clue, but I thought I'd let you know. :) Hope all is well with you. :) - Neutralhomer • Talk • 05:14, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
- Neutralhomer, ATSC 3.0 doesn't need the full 6 MHz channel to be broadcast. The ATSC 3.0 + 87.7 STAs allow for the transmission of an ATSC 3.0 multiplex on the lower 5.509 MHz of the channel with an audio signal on the upper 491 kHz. That multiplex has to contain one synchronized audio and video service—we know the Chicago one has Jewelry Television. ATSC 1.0 doesn't support this "shorting" of the channel; ATSC 3.0 is key to the feasibility of this kind of operation. Sammi Brie (she/her • t • c) 06:07, 19 July 2021 (UTC)

- Neutralhomer, the audio is completely outside of the ATSC 3.0 transmission. Think of it like this. The television channel is a road, six lanes wide, next to the sea (the FM band). They took out part of a lane and built a bike path (the FM audio service). There are still five and a half lanes for TV "traffic" (which with ATSC 3.0 likely someday will include lots of data) and then a half-lane-wide bike path adjacent to 88 MHz. - Thanks, Neutralhomer – I ended up seeing that RadioInsight piece right around the same time I got your note. I've gone back and reverted/adjusted a handful of my edits for this station to reflect the new reality. Probably a few other stations to revert as well, and others to keep watch on. Technical news
- Last week all wikis were very slow or not accessible for 30 minutes. This was due to server lag caused by regenerating dynamic lists on the Russian Wikinews after a large bulk import. (T287380)
Arbitration
- Following an amendment request, the committee has clarified that the Talk page exception to the 500/30 rule in remedy 5 of the Palestine-Israel articles 4 case does not apply to requested move discussions.

- You can vote for candidates in the 2021 Board of Trustees elections from 4 August to 17 August. Four community elected seats are up for election.
