File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading File:Ghode Modni.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. (ESkog)(Talk) 20:33, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop

[edit]

Please stop uploading images you do not own to Wikipedia. Unless used under our fairly restrictive Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria, we do not generally allow the use of copyrighted images on Wikipedia. Continuing to upload images without proper source and licensing information causes a lot of hard work for other editors, and can ultimately lead to your being blocked from editing. (ESkog)(Talk) 20:35, 13 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Response: I apologize for the images. I was not aware of the tight wikipedia policies. i have already removed the image references from my page, and have requested the deletion of these images from wikipedia.

Question: If I upload pictures that belong to me (that is, I have taken these pictures myself), how do I confirm to wikipedia that the copyrights belong to me?

Usually, you can just state that you took the photo yourself and release it under a free license (GFDL, Creative Commons, or public domain). Most such images include "metadata" which tells us about the camera which took the picture and the date of the photo, which can help authenticate it but is not necessary. Proposed deletion of Tourist Sites in Egypt

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Tourist Sites in Egypt, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

Wikipedia is not a travel guide, most of the factual information is found in existing articles.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Triwbe (talk) 20:16, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Response: Please feel free to delete this article. My goal was to create an umbrella page for all the tourist sites in Egypt - was not aware that this went against wikipedia policy.

Hi, What may be a more "acceptable" is simply an article or category, List of tourist sites in Egypt or a which simply contained a list of all the articles. Alternately, go to Wikitravel, which would welcome such an article. --Triwbe (talk) 05:45, 19 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Egypt

[edit]

Please see WP:reliable source and Wikipedia:External links. That is a blog, as it doesn't offer objective information about sites in Egypt. Rather, it is a resident of Egypt writing about tourist sites in Egypt. (and said writer just happens to own a tourism agency, so the information is likely to be biased in favor of tourism destinations.) And if you are the creator of the blog, you shouldn't add links to your own page, as it can be viewed as adding biased content. Thanks, Ono (talk) 17:27, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am suggesting that you add it to the egyptian tourism page, as it seems less out of place there. Thanks, Ono (talk) 18:08, 30 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added to the page Project Management do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Hi, This is not supposed to be promotional. Milestone-based project management is a new approach. Maybe I should word it differently? Please advice. Thanks Mlavannis (talk) 02:26, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
