Peer Review Questions

Note: I haven't had time to link all my references yet, but they're listed as in text citations right now.

Should I add a Contemporary Issues section? There is some information online about the current economic crisis and sex work, but it's all from casual news sources, nothing academic.

Also, should I include the last section about transformista migration to Europe? It is not a statistically significant trend but it has been written about. There’s very little scholarly info on my topic in general, so it was nice just to add meat to the article.

I think this article is really well written and your organization of information is great. I like your division of historical background, contemporary relevance, and the inclusion of trans-workers. Furthermore, the inclusion of statistics and information on health/STI prevalence and state intervention gives an interesting perspective on the link between public healthcare and prostitution. Your inclusion of the trans-workers section was important and I think that you should keep it because I feel like trans-people rarely get included in historical narratives, etc. Putting something like that on a public forum that is used by a wide range of people would probably help to bring awareness to trans-issues and normalize them. A contemporary piece might also be a good addition, even if it is from a news source (as long as nothing appears too biased). As a reader, it would be helpful for you to divide the “history” section into different categories. All of the information is relevant but I feel like some Wikipedia pages have certain information grouped by category and that can make it more accessible/easier to read. For example, I think that the women’s rights part could be a little subcategory under the history section. Additionally, I think it would be helpful if you added a little introduction section at the beginning that gave an overview of the topic, the impact it has had in Venezuela, etc. Most Wikipedia pages have one and it could be a great last touch to a really well written article!
