Liissee (talk) 02:32, 25 March 2012 (UTC)Hey, what did mean a lot more work though? With Word of Dance, I feel as if there's more variety that we can discuss in the article. What are examples can we work with in terms of categories for Tumblr if we decide to still use it. I can agree that Word Of Dance is more work considering we are creating a new entire wikipedia article for it, but if you have any suggestions for Tumblr, I wouldn't mind. -Marlise[reply]

MonicoMNS (talk) 02:38, 25 March 2012 (UTC) I was reviewing the videos and the additional resources as to how creating a new article would be like. Given our time I feel a little constrained and rushed in creating the article. Though as a group it is majority so if you both agree with WoD as our topic we should hastily start. Creating an article is a little timely but if we can collectively start on the creation the rest should fall into place. I am a little stumped as to creating the general overview. -Monico[reply]

Liissee (talk) 02:46, 25 March 2012 (UTC) but if we did tumblr, in terms of adding on to the existing article, what would you suggest. We're all Tumblr users, so we have an idea how tumblr works and what it's about, but I'm not sure about what we can discuss. Do you have suggestions for categories? All I can think of is the Missing-E for now - Marlise[reply]

Christina.phann (talk) 15:25, 25 March 2012 (UTC) Hey guys, I was looking through tumblr to see what we can write about if we were to do the topic of tumblr, and I honestly think it would be much harder to do because the categories that we could possibly write about, for example Trademark Guidlines, Summary, Investors, President of Tumblr, etc. are pretty broad topics. From what I see it seems like there isn't much to write about each category, so I would rather do WOD even if it means more work and effort. --Christina[reply]

MonicoMNS (talk) 20:12, 25 March 2012 (UTC) I have officially changed our topic on the Assignment overview page to World of Dance. We need to create the article page and await its approval in the mean time feel free to the sandbox to add in information. Potential Categories we could talk about are: Overview/History, Fashion, Paul Mitchell, World of Dance TOUR, Store/Fashion, Video/Music, Contributions/Recognition, Dancers. - Monico[reply]

Liissee (talk) 01:10, 26 March 2012 (UTC) I'm fine with the categories you've chosen. I know I volunteered to do the category for Paul Mitchell before, but is it okay if I change my mind? Also, I feel that the contributions/recognition would already mention the dancers so I think we wouldn't need another category for Dancers. But if you think so otherwise, I'll be fine with taking care of those sections. Also you mentioned Fashion twice, leaving us with 6 categories to really choose from. We can each easily divide the categories by having each of us choose 2. The other topic I'd like to choose is The WoD Tour if you don't mind. - Marlise[reply]

Christina.phann (talk) 01:23, 26 March 2012 (UTC) That's a good idea, we can each get two categories and once we complete them we can add more categories. We can also add Sponsors as a category if you guys want. I'm also trying to figure out how to create a new page right now. --Christina[reply]

Christina.phann (talk) 01:33, 26 March 2012 (UTC) Okay, so i finally found how to create the article, however, since we haven't started writing anything for our topicI'm not exactly sure if we should create it right now or at least I don't know if it's a good idea to start it on my account since the SB is on Monico's account. So, when you have time Monico here is the link to creating the article. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Your_first_article AND http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:AfC Also, you can create the article by typing World of Dance on the Search bar and then by clicking the Red link of World of Dance, it will take you to this page : http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=World_of_Dance&action=edit&redlink=1 --Christina[reply]

Liissee (talk) 15:48, 26 March 2012 (UTC) Also, we're required to have a screen cap of the before image of the article. But since we're creating a whole new entire article, how would we do that? Just screencap the empty article? -Marlise[reply]

Christina.phann (talk) 17:22, 26 March 2012 (UTC) I'm pretty sure we won't need to do the screen snap since we aren't editing but creating a new one --Christina[reply]

MonicoMNS (talk) 23:14, 26 March 2012 (UTC) One of us should eMail Michael Dick and ask him these questions. As for creating the wikipedia page I am well aware of the sources but as you have stated I don't know which course of action to take. Creating the actual article has no significance on who's account makes it. It's the editing that needs to be done via my sandbox -- if someone wants to take charge of that please do. In addition, start posting information on categories in the talk page so we all understand how much everyone currently has done. To recap eMail our Wiki advisor, post info, create page. - Monico[reply]

Christina.phann (talk) 23:34, 26 March 2012 (UTC) Okay, so I just emailed Michael Dick in regards to creating the topic page, so as soon as he replies to me I'll let you guys know what he says. And for the topics I guess ill start doing the categories on Paul Mitchell and Store/fashion, if you guys don't mind.. --Christina[reply]

MonicoMNS (talk) 04:14, 27 March 2012 (UTC) Just to organize everything[reply]
World of Dance Resource Available

Images?

  • As for images for the page (not necessary) which is more sub category dependent we can use WoD Logo, Paul Mitchell

Sub-Category (I know we've discussed it in previous message but just to organize it add/edit anything I missed please)
I didn't want to create too much work for us so I'm leaving things basic but feel free to take on the task of doing more

  • Main Overview (Mission included in here along with history)
  • Events/World of Dance TOUR (Countries,States partaking in WODTour - mention winners etc.)
  • Paul Mitchell (though that may be in Main Overview which is alright we can merge our two parts)
  • Store/Fashion (merchandising -- tempted to cut this out or just make it part of overview)
  • Recognition/Achievements/Acknowledgements (impact of society basically)
  • Video/Music/Dancers (promotion of Urban HipHop scene)

Posting what I have done now here until we hear back from Michael Dick about our page creation

Liissee (talk) 15:39, 27 March 2012 (UTC)wait which categories did you want to do Monico? -Marlise[reply]

Christina.phann (talk) 16:01, 27 March 2012 (UTC) (talk) 16:00, 27 March 2012 (UTC) I have received an email an email back from Michael, and he said that we can create the page within sandbox first and then move it to the main article space as directed in the "resources" page. --Chrisinaa[reply]

Christina.phann (talk) 16:02, 27 March 2012 (UTC) Btw, Marlise you need to right in your User page so that your name link can be blue. -- Christinaa[reply]

Liissee (talk) 16:36, 27 March 2012 (UTC)Thanks Christina for telling me. I'm have trouble finding information about the winners from previous events. There's different types of awards too right? I only found one winner from last year the the LA location, "Hype", according to their main site. Also, I found this blog entry that mentions other awards that were given last year. http://bloggingbestdancecrew.blogspot.ca/2011/01/congratulations-to-world-of-dance-award.html . So in terms of winners of the overall competition from previous years, I'm having trouble looking for them. --Marlise[reply]

Christina.phann (talk) 23:37, 27 March 2012 (UTC) Hey guys, we need to start posting on the sandbox page since we have gotten things sorted out about creating the new topic page. I will post what I have done so far for my part before the end of tonight! --Christina[reply]

Christina.phann (talk) 01:10, 28 March 2012 (UTC) Okay, so I was searching up information on Paul Mitchell regarding WOD and it turns out that there really is nothing on it. So, what I did was I watched the video World of Dance: A little Past, Present & Future sponsored by Paul Mitchell and noted information I thought we can add to parts of the other categories. Basically as Monico said, we can add this information in the Overview or where ever it may fit.[reply]

Note this is just rough notes on the video so I didn't bother wording it professionally. However when merging I will edit that.

So here is the notes :

• Starting point : March 2008

• Executive Producers: Dave Gonzalez & Myron Marten

• revenue didn’t support the community

• people that understood dance was a lifestyle but didn’t have a place in dance

• Paul Mitchell was the first sponsor, they recognized that it was an amazing opportunity for young dancers.

• Paul Mitchell came on the second year and supported 4 events and became a tour sponsor in year 3 now they are the presenting sponsor, been with them for 3 years now.

• 2011 was the breaking year to expand the tour into Canada and 1 in the united kingdom and are continuing this year.

• 3 Countries with multiple cities

• broadcast television changed the landscape of the dancing

• WOD is really unique property because they became anchor on the ground for these dancers to participate in, unique because they support the dancers from a ground level, let the fans connect with them, to meet them to shake their hands to sign the posters

• allow fans engage with dancers

• American television turned out a lot of stars

• WOD was able to reposition some of the stars into a live rein format

• realize they really had something when they brought in international talent

• first group : lets twins ,at the time they were an unknown dance entity, they performed at WOD they’re video went viral and they were accepted by the whole united states market

• WOD have the ability to bring in stars and have them known to the domestic market

• 2011 was a huge year for WOD, not only did they break international ground, starting from day one when they moved into LA convention center, one of the big initiatives they had was that they wanted to film, so they collaborated with a friend of Dave’s about working together.

• Media was a big component to the WOD tour

• Sponsors: Paul Mitchell, Verizon, Monster, Southpole, Scion, Jordon, Body Armor, Pioneer, Fuze

• Played crucial roles in the development of the Tour

Christina.phann (talk) 03:10, 28 March 2012 (UTC) I posted what I found on Paul Mitchell and made a category for it. We can combine it with the overview if you guys feel that it's too short for its own category. --Christina[reply]

MonicoMNS (talk) 04:04, 28 March 2012 (UTC) Worse case scenario we do add it with overview (make it an extended history/misison/overview) Banner has been added to talkpage and subheadings to the SandBox page -- start posting info and change headings if needed but be sure to indicate so in the edit summary bar. Working on adding in picture of Paul Mitchell and general WOD Logo having difficulties -- hoping to have that up tomorrow. Also Marlise my section will be the introduction to what WOD is and its mission (pictures too) I will also add in info to both your sections if I come across anything. - Monico[reply]

Christina.phann (talk) 16:18, 28 March 2012 (UTC) Hey guys, I stumbled upon the WOD uk site, here is the link : http://www.worldofdancetour.co.uk/ Just take a look at it and see if theres more information for your sections! --Christina[reply]

Christina.phann (talk) 19:33, 28 March 2012 (UTC) Just to let you guys know, I'm working on the events section right now. -- Christina[reply]

Liissee (talk) 22:00, 28 March 2012 (UTC) One quick question, what do you mean by recognition ? You mean, like known dancers/groups/choreographers? -Marlise[reply]

Christina.phann (talk) 01:08, 29 March 2012 (UTC) I am officially completed my assigned categories. Please look through them and edit them I will do the same with other categories! -- Christina[reply]

MonicoMNS (talk) 03:16, 29 March 2012 (UTC) Marlise we need you to source the dancers section - we're about to finalize with edits and format everything so its consistent in writing style. -Monico[reply]

Liissee (talk) 03:22, 29 March 2012 (UTC)sorry I haven't been replying. and will do! I'm Almost done -Marlise[reply]
