Please do not add advertising or inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that exist to attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policies for further explanations of links that are considered appropriate. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you.--Hu12 (talk) 05:08, 24 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

April 2012[edit]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for adding spam links. Persistent spammers will have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia and potentially penalized by search engines. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Hi MOnish.tolaney, I received your email. The reason you were blocked is that you were adding links whose only purpose is to sell the magazine in question. Our policy says that we do allow external links, but in a very limited way (see WP:EL). Those links you were adding were not appropriate; only the main link for the magazine would be acceptable. I am willing to unblock you, as long as you agree not to add those links to Wikipedia anymore. In addition, your email seemed to indicate that you might be an employee of timesgroup; if that is the case, you also have to be very careful with any edits related to your employer; our policy, WP:COI generally recommends that people with a conflict of interest only make suggestions on talk pages, except for very uncontroversial edits. Do you agree to follow these rules of Wikipedia? Qwyrxian (talk) 11:18, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I got your email again, Monish. I'll need you to agree to those terms here--you can edit this page even while blocked. As to which links are appropriate, we can discuss that here once you are unblocked. I can say that we won't link to the "contact us" page--we always link to the main page related to the subject; so, the main "Femina" page for Femina, etc. Remember, our purpose in giving links is merely to provide extra encyclopedic information that we can't host here for some reason (either too much space, too many graphics, copyright reasons, etc.). Our purpose is not to make it easy for readers to contact you or order your products. Qwyrxian (talk) 23:21, 25 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
