Categorisation of Anglican priests: RFC as followup to CFD

You contributed to the debate at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2013 November 2#Category:English_Anglican_priests, which I have closed today as "no consensus". (This notice is being sent all participants in that debate.)

Apart from the disagreement in that particular case, there seemed to be no broader agreement on how to categorise of Anglican priests. Franz von Papen

Hi Moonraker. Well - I am a heritage speaker of German so maybe I am inclined to do this. If you'd like to edit out von Papen, I have no qualms with that. Otherwise, I am not sure it negatively impacts the article in any way. I do think it is akin to Sir Walter Raleigh and the like. I would not feel editing out "Sir" Raleigh would be worthwhile, appropriate, or necessary. It's usage merely connotes aristocracy. I know Brits have a hard time imagining that such a thing existed/exists with regard to Germans but it did and it still does. Papen is certainly easier when starting a sentence. If for consistency's sake you feel obliged to edit it, then by all means, do so. It could be edited in either direction. If you take it to task...let me know. :-)

Imperial Civil Service

Hi, on 6 January you moved Imperial Civil Service to Indian Civil Service (British India). Your edit summary was "correct name can be disambiguated if needed, no reason to invent new name!" and it confuses me. The outfit was indeed known as the Imperial Civil Service and it replaced the earlier Covenanted Civil Service of India operated by the East India company & reformed by Macaulay in the 1830s. I think that the change to Imperial Civil Service came about after the Aitchison Commission report in the mid-1880s but I'll have to dig out my books to verify the precise timing. The Imperial Civil Service was one of a three-pronged administrative set-up that also included the Provincial Civil Service and the Subordinate Civil Service.

All of the above is easily verifiable and indeed I think much of it is already cited in the article. Yes, the article needs some clarification but if you were assuming that "Imperial Civil Service" was a made-up name in order to distinguish the Raj period from that of independent India then I think you were misguided. - Sitush (talk) 13:38, 2 February 2014 (UTC)

RWY Cipher

A(RWY)Sqn RY and B(RWY)Sqn would be very grateful if you could leave the correct ones on display as many serving members download the image and then if the wrong cipher is on wiki they publish Regimental documents with the incorrect Cipher on them.

I will ask RWY Archivist if he has any earlier badges and associated information which we can add in due course.

Dear Moonraker In the Talk page of the English Wikipedia article on Gunther von Reibnitz I noticed that you have reinstated the following reference to an item in the the Did you know? column: The text of the entry was as follows: "Did you know... that Yad Vashem experts have stated that Günther von Reibnitz was planted in the SS to act as a spy for Hermann Göring?" As indicated in the last paragraph of the article, referenced by footnote 19, Yad Vashem was contacted and in its response it could not confirm this. Urs.knecht, this is simply a matter of record. The page was featured in DYK, and no one can change that fact. If you disagree with the DYK "hook" in that panel on the talk page, then you can add a statement immediately underneath it to say why. I nominated this for DYK, not realising it was just short of the 1,500 minimum character requirement. I make it out at 1,322 excluding bullets, headers and tables. Is there any further info you've unearthed that you could add? As for the citations I think the reviewer means that the first paragraph also needs a citation. Nice and short! - This gentle woman has a 1714 quote in BWV 172, and is sure that her humble beginning of a translation can be improved - or some English version found, must have been translated before. Happy to try to help, Gerda, but am a little short of time today for research. Could you please say more about what these roles were, in practice? For instance, were the Capell Musici court musicians serving a notional Capell, or were they church musicians serving a real chapel? (I suspect the first.) There will probably not be precise and correct translations, it may be a question of working out what we might have said in English at the time. Hi ..... I nominated J. S. Wood for DYK hoping to make it into an April 1st hook but it didn't work. However there is still a hook awaiting and it has had a review but I look at the complexities of the review and wonder if its worth the effort. I find the idea of a "promotional" article quite odd for a dead Victorian editor. If you are OK with it then Id like to abandon the nomination. If you are still keen then happy for you to take over fielding the minor points. Oh and thanks for the Gib election and your comment. The project did very well to do 1000 new articles. Last weekend one of our helpers got permission to take photos at Rock Gun Battery. This is off limits to civilians and protected by electrified fencing .... but the wiki now has pictures. Greeks in Italy (Griko People), Official Status

In Italy we Greeks are recognized simply as an ethnic Greek minority (in italian language: minoranza greca), as I corrected in the article, and as you can read in the reference. Not as "Minoranza linguistica Grika dell'Etnia Griko-Calabrese e Salentina ("Griko linguistic minorities of Griko-Calabrian and Salentinian ethnicity". Hello, KoriAna 1. Before you arrived, it appeared that the recognition given in the law was as "Minoranza linguistica Grika dell'Etnia Griko-Calabrese e Salentina". Can you please make this clear for me, are you saying that that is not what is stated in the law, so the quotation is wrong, or that you do not like what is quoted? Hello Moonraker, the quotation as it was before, was wrong. The recognition given us by Law no. 482 of 1999 is simply as a "Greek population (popolazione greca)". There is no separate "Griko linguistic minority of Griko-Calabrian and Salentinian ethnicity". We are a Greek ethnic and linguistic minority in Italy, that's it! I know that Italy did not ratified the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages. Italy's policy toward its minorities is quite ambiguous. In theory the italian state recognises all his ethnic and linguistic minorities (but not the romance regional languages like Sicilian, Lombard, Neapolitan, etc!). On the other hand, everything is done (and has been done since 1861) to impose Italian as the official language of the state, and to wipe out dialects. Hi, Moonraker. Thanks for your feedback and comments on my recent AFD nominations. I was not previously familiar with the GNG so thank you for bringing this to my attention. I merely began nominating as I noticed that some tenuously notable aristocratic biographies had been deleted via AFD previously. I'll let the current crop of AFDs run their course and see what the consensus is. It may be that some are seen to pass GNG and are thus kept, however for others such as Charles McLaren, 4th Baron Aberconway, the case seems weaker. Thanks. Could you revert your name edits on Andre Migner dit Lagace, please? His name was not "André Lagacé". The Lagace name came after him and it is not proper to call him thus. Catalan exonyms

Hello, Moonraker. I was curious about this edit to Catalan exonyms. I can't say that I entirely understand the reason for the article, but it seems to me that it serves to compare Catalan-language place names with the names of those places in the local language. That being the case, the redirect links using the local languages (e.g. Antwerpen for Dutch-speaking Antwerp) serve a real purpose. I don't understand the meaning of your edit summary, "LL", but I'm guessing it's not a reference to WP:WikiProject Baseball/Little League task force. Cnilep (talk) 01:33, 11 April 2014 (UTC)

Dorje Shugden controversy

Hi. I joined a few months ago and you wrote on my page that I can ask you a question if needed. Could you please have a look at the 'Dorje Shugden controversy' page. A user called 'Heicth' deleted a lot of information on 05:12 6th May in this section ; === Claims of violence/discrimination committed by non-Shugden practitioners === . Is it okay to delete all this? As you can tell by the article's name, the article is about an issue with different views. It seems to me this edit was to delete a presentation of one side of the argument because the editor doesn't like this side. Is it okay to keep this information in the article? Uploading an updated public domain image: Licensing confusion

I'd like your input on how to properly update an image for use in the Wikipedia article: Circuit Diagram. The current, public domain image in the Symbols section is missing a "hybrid style" mentioned in the article. I've downloaded the image and added the missing style, and am attempting to upload it using "Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard". I would like to upload it in the same way that the previous author of the image had done so (he had also updated the image originally there). I am not sure how to do this. "Step 3: Provide source and copyright information" lists 5 options under "This is a free work", none of which seem to be the one I want to use. Any help would be very much appreciated!

Update: I ended up creating a new diagram from scratch and uploading that instead. However, any tips on how to navigate the different licenses would still be appreciated for future endeavors.

Help with incorrect article

Hi, I need help with one article (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gabriel_de_Saint_Nicholas), it is full of false information and I think (by searching on Internet) fictitious names. Also, there is a couple of references to newspapers, but information used in newspaper articles are also false (journalists didn't check them). I also think that wiki article with the same name was deleted once, so I ask is there any chance to do it the same now. I asked you because I saw your welcome note on my talk page.
