Welcome![edit]

Hello, MorganAtMGA, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Notes[edit]

Hi! Here are the promised notes. I'm going by your draft since I figure that will more closely resemble the final edits.

  • I like that you straightened up the lead - it's much more orderly and easier to look at.
  • This needs more sourcing to back up claims. The amount of sourcing in the article and draft is way too slim. Notability isn't an issue here, so mostly this will be backing up claims. Just make sure that you avoid unreliable sources. Primary sources are fine, as long as they're not used for very major or controversial claims.
  • Is it possible to elaborate on why Pratt declined the Parsec award? That's an interesting tidbit of information. Also, it looks like it was a group decision with PodCastle per the source. (A primary source is fine for PodCastle's comments on why they declined the award.) It also looks like many others declined the award. This is honestly pretty fascinating - it may be worth looking into this and adding something to the article on the Parsec awards, if you're interested. It would have to be summarized very succinctly and neutrally, but it seems like it would be worth mentioning.

This is pretty much it so far - I think you're definitely doing well here. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 15:20, 5 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Shalor (Wiki Ed): Thank you! I reworked the PodCastle sentence a little bit to account for the group decision, and did some work on the article's organization in general. The updates are up on my subpage draft but not live to the real article yet. I can't seem to find a good author photo, unfortunately. What do you recommend in that situation? Is everything else ready to go live, you think? -MorganAtMGA (talk) 22:46, 17 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I updated the live Tim Pratt article, but please let me know what you think anyway. I hope the sourcing is all good now; it all looks right to me but I could easily be missing something. (Also, should I worry about the project class and importance markers on the article's talk page? I don't think it's a stub anymore but I'm not sure about much beyond that.) -MorganAtMGA (talk) 01:44, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Check In[edit]

This is just a check in to see how your project editing is going. You should be well under way editing your project article. It appears you have already made significant progress. (Only link to a page once.) Please give me an update. If you need assistance, let me know on my talk page. —Grlucas (talk) 12:47, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Grlucas: Hi! Everything I've done is everything I know to do, and it's live at Tim Pratt. I just asked Shalor some questions in the post above this one on the same day, so I welcome your feedback on that or anything else I'm missing. (What specifically have I linked to that I shouldn't have, by the way?) Thanks for your help. -MorganAtMGA (talk) 23:12, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
