About

Hi user:morganfitzp!

First: I really appreciate you for your helping me. iIam glad there is many users here who are interested in Art.
currently i am focused on the article of [List of tours and concerts by Layal Abboud] , a topic that many sources can be found about it. --ސ ޚ ލ ٰ ا (talk) 23:19, 29 August 2017 (UTC)
Sure thing Chyah. It was great to learn about Layal (I am also a big fan of Sabah since first hearing her on this record). I recommend writing that article on your sandbox before putting up on public Wikipedia. It also sounds more like a section to add to the Layal Abboud article. Morganfitzp (talk) 00:25, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
Classics always interesting. yea, sandbox, i thought about it, but expanding her article related to more source, and i am in lack of source. so, no need to work harder on it. indeed, i have many DYKs in my mind right know! --ސ ޚ ލ ٰ ا (talk) 10:52, 30 August 2017 (UTC)
That's cool. I recommend partnering with a native English speaker for each article and doing what we did with Layal Abboud: Research your information, write the article, format to the best of your ability, and then ask another editor to look it over for formatting and grammar, which is very different between any two languages.
I've converted a lot of non-English articles into English. I sometimes start with a translation app, which is good baseline but always comes out weird. Next step is to find as many English language sources as possible to support the article. If there aren't any/many, then that subject may not meet Wikipedia's Notability Standards. If there are, then the article will need a lot of rewriting to integrate the information into it.
Not sure how it is on Arabic Wikipedia, but editors always scrutinize an article quite thoroughly before it can pass DYK. I've had articles that took many edits to complete. Editors are very supportive, but they always want things to go from 100% to 110% quality. Morganfitzp (talk) 21:24, 30 August 2017 (UTC)

Morganfitzp, when you gave this DYK nomination a tick, you also added "yes" to the "passed" parameter up at the top. That is not what this parameter is for, and it should never be used when doing a DYK review. Instead, it's used to close the template when the nomination is promoted to prep (or permanently rejected or withdrawn by the nominator), which is not what you were doing. Please don't fill this in going forward. Many thanks. Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. BlueMoonset (talk) 17:49, 22 September 2017 (UTC)

Thanks! I'd misunderstood those instructions. Will refrain from changing that parameter in the future. Morganfitzp (talk) 18:43, 24 September 2017 (UTC)

Greetings, Morganfitzp! I'm pinging you because you started the article In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre, and I've recently been expanding it. My goal is to get it at least to the point of a DYK. SusanLesch, you are another active editor who has contributed to the article. Any interest in either of you helping me expand it?

It looks like according to the Wikipedia:Did you know#Eligibility criteria and User:Rjanag/Calculating fivefold expansion by hand that we need 1,632 more bytes of prose (by the 19th, since I started expanding on the 12th). So maybe 250-300 more words. I can definitely add more from the Sheehy reference, but if you have ideas/suggestions/other references I might try, and/or want to help with the expansion, I would appreciate the help!

I will also look into Newspapers.com, since I have access via The Wikipedia Library. = paul2520 (talk) 20:24, 16 July 2018 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:29, 21 October 2018 (UTC)

Leaving this here as a reminder to pre-format non-free images to avoid notes from bots on my talk page. Morganfitzp (talk) 00:10, 5 November 2018 (UTC)
