Hi. When you recently edited Buckinghamshire, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page The Telegraph (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Metro bank High Wycombe.

Just wondered why you felt it necessary to delet the information on Metrobank? This is quite exciting for our town, and spells out that we,as a business community, are bouncing back. Maybe stick to your Nazi interests,as opposed to behaving like one. Thankyou. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.6.199.215 (talk) 17:37, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

I don't see that the opening of a branch of a comparatively small and very new retail bank is a sign of the business community 'bouncing back', and I won't be convinced unless you cite a reliable source to substantiate this claim. Also, likening me to a Nazi? Seriously? Moswento (talk | contribs) 18:03, 22 January 2012 (UTC)

I am sorry to have reverted you there, but the list serves a dual purpose - it lists missing articles, but also all entries in the PSB encyclopedia. PS. At the same time, if you are interested in maintaining such lists, this one desperately needs fixes for disambiguation and redirects. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk to me 00:39, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

User:MadMax/Encyclopedia10

I reverted your deletions of titles from the Linedecker encyclopedia from the Mad Max page. A little later, I looked at this again and now see that you no doubt had a good faith reason for the deletions. That is that the first line of the page says that it is a list of the missing articles. Despite this, it seems Mad Max put all of the Linedecker articles on the list and added blue links for the corresponding Wikipedia pages. He had the missing articles in red links. I, and I think a few others, changed the links for a few articles which were added to Wikipedia later from red to blue. Mad Max has been temporarily inactive according to his user page - since 2007 according to his contribution page. So we can not ask him what he intended to include or why he included article titles which had corresponding Wikipedia pages. I think it is not improper to change a page which has not been maintained for over four years, even if it is a user sub-page, when it has substantive general content such as this one. I suppose I would feel differently about a user page or talk page. In any event, it may serve some purpose to keep all of the article titles from Linedecker's work for reference. If you feel strongly that it should be changed, however, I would not oppose you if you change the list again. I should not have noted my reversion reason as vandalism and should have examined the entire page more carefully, although I also included unexplained deletion. I have seen, and I assume you have seen, unexplained deletions that were vandalism in the past. I must admit I did not understand "rmv blue" and the reason for it or consider it an understandable explanation the first time around. So I saw no reason for the deletions, which I seem to have gotten wrong. Donner60 (talk) 07:49, 17 February 2012 (UTC)

I thank you for coming up with that new hook for the 2000 UEFA Cup Final riots DYK but unfortunatly, unless that cross on it is overturned, I'm afraid it doesn't look like it will pass which would be a shame as I spend a lot of time working on it. Barnstar

The Writer's Barnstar
For your excellent articles on Gissing's novels. INeverCry 04:35, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

Excellent

If it makes you feel any better, excellent is actually pretty far down on my list of enthusiastic adjectives. You have quite a ways to go before reaching fabulous, wonderful, terrific, marvelous or fantastic. ;) In all seriousness, the general level of novel and poem articles is quite stubbish, so to see your pieces, which are quality things even if they won't make my finger sore from scrolling thru them, does impress me very much. INeverCry 07:53, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

I've done a bit to clean up and expand the Gissing article. I'm short on sources, but the article looks a little better for now. I hope you have plans to expand it. INeverCry 22:28, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

I'm glad you're going to work on it; I'm sure you'll take it quite a bit further. The old source I used is ok, but your modern sources are obviously preferable, especially in regard to an eventual critical section for the article, which is not really my cup of tea. While articles on individual novels and works are very important, we don't want jets taking off from a broken-down aircraft carrier. ;) INeverCry 19:25, 17 June 2012 (UTC)

Welcome to the Teahouse!

Hi Moswento! Thank you for signing up to be a future host at the Teahouse. Well, great news - the future is here, we'd love you to be a Teahouse host! Teahouse hosts do more than just ask questions - they invite new users to the Teahouse!. A few things we'd love to see you do as a Teahouse host:

  • First, declare your Hostness! Add yourself to the Host page! This page is where new editors and your fellow hosts can learn about you and get in touch with you easily if needed. By signing up here you declare that you know how to serve up a great cup of tea. Add yourself here.
  • Invite new users with our invite guide. Please invite new users to the Teahouse! You don't have to track your invites, but, at the guide you'll find some tips on how to invite. It's super important; we have plenty of Wikipedians answering questions, but enough asking.
  • Visit the tips page. The tips page provides you some basic tips on how to engage with visitors at the Teahouse. We have a special way of doing things - unlike other areas of Wikipedia! (Such as greeting new editors with a simple "Hi!" and being as easy to understand and friendly as possible.)
  • Join the conversation by participating on the host lounge talk pages. We also have an IRC channel now for hosts to get to know one another, develop your skills, and eventually the channel will serve as an additional help space for new editors!
  • To visit the IRC channel: #wikipedia-teahouse connect (Feel free to ask me for help if you're having trouble connecting!)

I'm so happy that you volunteered to lend a hand at the Teahouse. I look forward to following your contributions and invitations, and your assistance in making the Teahouse a great and warm place for new Wikipedians. See you there :) Sarah (talk) 02:34, 22 June 2012 (UTC)

Hi Moswento!

I noticed your answer to MonsieurSpikus's question at TH and I wondered if I could ask you how you tracked the article down? I'm pretty new - so still lots to learn (!) - but short of a 'contribs' button or an option to search AFC I couldn't figure out any way of doing this...

Hi Loriski. Another way is to click on 'My contributions' at the top of your screen, and in the 'User:' box, change your username to their username. The other option (which I use) is to use a special userscript, as explained here, but you may not want to worry about that at the moment! in the kingdom of the blind the one time editor is king. Chienlit (talk) 12:33, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Ha, intriguing that you should wish me to 'take care'. High Wycombe was the scene of my most idiotic piece of carelessness. Rode a bicycle like a teenage hooligan (which I am not) down New road, and destroyed both a car door and my Achilles tendon at the Lane end mini-roundabouts. Take care too, Chienlit (talk) 13:36, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Ouch! I haven't cycled anywhere in years, so have no comparable anecdotes. Are you local to Wycombe, or were you just visiting? Moswento talky 13:48, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Between Aylesbury and Thame, and I used to cycle to Cressex for work when I was young and fit. I noticed your User box and DYK for Dashwood so made a wild guess. I also used to go past Cowleaze wood on the way to Henley so I am delighted that you created it. ... but you didn't mention the strange groups of men that skulked in the car park after dusk (especially Fridays) - stolen goods? drugs? animal fighting? sex? I always kept pedalling - too scared to approach them and dreading getting an inopportune puncture. Take care... Chienlit (talk) 16:32, 3 August 2012 (UTC)
Haha, I'd never heard about those groups of men. I'm also particularly impressed with your detective skills in determining my location - especially given that the Dashwood you refer to is I assume Charles Dashwood - an Australian politician! Moswento talky 18:25, 3 August 2012 (UTC)

The Tea Leaf - Issue Five

Stop by for a tasty glass of wiki-iced tea at the Teahouse, today!

Hi! Welcome to the fifth edition of The Tea Leaf, the official newsletter of the Teahouse!

  • Guest activity increased in July. Questions are up from an average of 36 per week in June to 43 per week in July, and guest profile creation has also increased. This is likely a result of the automatic invite experiments we started near the end of month, which seeks to lessen the burden on hosts and other volunteers who manually invite editors. During the last week of July, questions doubled in the Teahouse! (But don't let that deter you from inviting editors to the Teahouse, please, there are still lots of new editors who haven't found Teahouse yet.)
  • More Teahouse hosts than ever. We had 12 new hosts sign up to participate at the Teahouse! We now have 35 hosts volunteering at the Teahouse. Feel free to stop by and see them all here.
  • Phase two update: Host sprint. In August, the Teahouse team plans to improve the host experience by developing a simpler new-host creation process, a better way of surfacing active hosts, and a host lounge renovation. Take a look at the plan and weigh in here.
  • New Teahouse guest barnstar is awarded to first recipient: Charlie Inks. Using the Teahouse barnstar designed by Heatherawalls, hosts hajatvrc and Ryan Vesey created the new Teahouse Guest Barnstar. The first recipient is Charlie Inks, for her boldness in asking questions at the Teahouse. Check out the award in action here.
  • Teahouse was a hot topic at Wikimania! The Teahouse was a hot topic at Wikimania this past month, where editor retention and interface design was heavily discussed. Sarah and Jonathan presented the Teahouse during the Wikimedia Fellowships panel. Slides can be viewed here. A lunch was also held at Wikimania for Teahouse hosts.

As always, thanks for supporting the Teahouse project! Stop by and visit us today!

Don't forget to make your new host profile!

Hi Moswento! Thanks for being a host at the Teahouse! We're working on the Host lounge renovations and we've created a new way for hosts to become hosts. Please take a few minutes and test it out here, by creating your new host profile. It's also a good excuse to update your image, quote, and information about yourself :) You can join in on the host discussion about the new feature here. See you at the Teahouse! The Tea Leaf - Issue Six

Hi! Welcome to the sixth edition of The Tea Leaf, the official newsletter of the Teahouse!

  • Teahouse serves over 700 new editors in six months on Wikipedia! Since February 27, 741 new editors have participated at the Teahouse. The Q&A board and the guest intro pages are more active than ever.
A lovely little teahouse nestled in Germany from Wiki Loves Monuments
  • Automatic invites are doing the trick: 50% more new editors visiting each week. Ever since HostBot's automated invite trial phase began we've seen a boost in new editor participation. Automating a baseline set of invitations also allows Teahouse hosts to focus on serving hot cups of help to guests, instead of spending countless hours inviting.
  • Guests to the Teahouse continue to edit more & interact more with other community members than non-Teahouse guests according to six month metrics. Teahouse guests make more than twice the article edits and edit more talk pages than other new editors.
  • New host process implemented which encourages anyone to get started as a Teahouse host in a few easy steps. Stop by the hosts page and become a Teahouse host today!
  • Host lounge renovations nearing completion. Working closely with Teahouse hosts, we've made some major renovations to the Teahouse Host Lounge - the main hangout and resource space for hosts. Learn more about the improvements here.

As always, thanks for supporting the Teahouse project! Stop by and visit us today!

Welcome to the 2013 WikiCup!

Hello Moswento, and welcome to the 2013 WikiCup! Your submissions' page is here. The competition begins at midnight UTC. The first round will last until the end of February, at which point the top 64 scorers will advance to the second round. We will be in touch at the end of every month, and signups are going to remain open until the end of January; if you know of anyone else who may like to take part, please let them know! A few reminders: *The rules can be found here. There have been a few changes from last year, which are listed on that page. *Anything you submit must have been nominated and promoted in 2013, and you need to have completed significant work upon it in 2013. (The articles you review at good article reviews does not need to have been nominated in 2013, but you do need to have started the review in 2013.) We will be checking. *If you feel that another competitor is breaking the rules or abusing the competition in some way, please let a judge know. Please do not remove entries from the submissions' pages of others yourself. *Don't worry about calculating precisely how many points everything is worth. The bot will do that. The bot may occasionally get something wrong- let a judge know, or post on the WikiCup talk page if that happens. *Please try to be prompt in updating submissions' pages so that they can be double-checked. Overall, however, don't worry, and have fun. It doesn't matter if you make the odd mistake; these things happen. Questions can be asked on the WikiCup talk page. Good luck!
