Welcome![edit]

Hello, Mp1999-70, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Notes[edit]

Here are the notes I promised:

  • I'm confused as to where this is meant to be posted in the Bushfires in Australia page. Is this meant to be a section about the 2019-2020 bushfires? If so, keep in mind that this should only be a very brief overview of the topic area since there's already a lengthy article on these specific bushfires. There's no need to re-state anything but the most basic, general overview on the main page for bushfires.
  • You use a lot of quotes from external sources. While they're marked as quotes, this still poses an issue with copyright. Quotes can only be used when we cannot summarize the content into our own words without losing something major in the process and even then, they should only be used sporadically and be accompanied by context to show why the quote is important. As it stands, this would be removed from the article because it would pose a huge copyright issue in the article.

A good way to resolve the issue with the quotes would be to make a series of notes and write the content into your own words. At present, however, the article's set up is a little confusing. I've reached out to someone who has edited the page to see if they know what's going on, so I'd recommend that we wait to add anything. Until then, you can work on summarizing the material in your own words. Shalor (Wiki Ed) (talk) 21:08, 16 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]
