Welcome![edit]

Hello, Mrbigg08, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Image without license[edit]

Unspecified source/license for File:Floppy-disk-computer-163161.png[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Floppy-disk-computer-163161.png. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like {{PD-self}} (to release all rights), {{self|CC-by-sa-3.0|GFDL}} (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 02:46, 14 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Let us help[edit]

Hi!

I see that you're taking Writing for Digital Media. What is your Wikipedia assignment? There are lots of people here (including me) who can answer questions and generally make things easier. ☺

By the way: If any more of your edits get reverted, have a look at the edit summary in the page history. For example: The first few lines of the edit history of "Data storage" show why your changes were reverted; they also offer some advice about what you can do.

There are some things we don't publish, and lists of pros and cons are one of them. We don't give advice, and we don't advocate one technology over another. We try to give information from a neutral point of view. For example: When describing the merits of the floppy disk, you might talk about it in historical terms: When the floppy disk was invented, what differentiated it from other types of information storage? Why did people stop using floppy disks? To get that information, you need reliable sources. Then you tell readers what those sources are.

We also try to put things in the right place. While the specifics of cloud computing are appropriate for some articles, right now "Data storage" is not the best place for that material.

If we know what your assignment is, we can help! You can reply to this message, you can post to Talk:Data storage, or you can ask a question at The Teahouse. —Ringbang (talk) 00:13, 23 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
