The scope of my project for genre studies was limited to the social functions of literary genres. I don't know much about rhetorical genre studies in linguistics, but if you would like to contribute what you know about it I would love to learn more. As of now there is not a page I can find on rhetorical genre studies in linguistics to link to. I look forward to reading what you have to say. Cheers, Erischild

I've made a to-do out of this, but it will not be addressed for a while.Msanford (talk) 20:00, 12 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Portal:Percussion[edit]

I responded to your comment on Wikipedia:Portal peer review/Percussion/archive1. Thanks for the feedback, by the way. I'd been waiting for ages! --Kakofonous (talk) 23:39, 3 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I see you are a user located in Montréal, you may be interested in: Wikipedia:Meetup/Montreal. Please add your name to the "Interested" or to the "Not interested" list. Date is set for May 3rd 2008 and Buffet La Stanza is the proposed location. If you have another idea for the location; propose away! Please pass on to any Montreal Wikis you may be aware of and who are not yet listed as interested, may be interested, or not interested. Portal Review[edit]

Could you take a look at the new Ancient Near East portal? I'd like to submit it for a Featured Portal review when I find/improve a few more articles for the "selected article" section, and would welcome any feedback you could offer at this time.

Thanks, IansAwesomePizza (talk) 21:52, 16 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I saw that you are a portal peer review volunteer. I have worked much for the improvement of my portal, but some concerns may remain:

  • Is the image at the top of the page useful and aesthetic, or should I remove or replace it ?
  • Problem with the selected biography: I contented myself with writing a short sentence as an introduction for each personality. Then I wrote the beginning of the biography, then put a link "more..." to the complete article. Is it approriate ?
  • Selected images are not of the same size. Is it really a problem ? It should be noted that free images for comics are very rare.
  • Is the presentation of the news correct ? I did not specified the exact date of each event, only the month, because I do not know it.
  • If you have any other recommendations about other aspects of the portal, do not hesitate ! It MUST become a featured portal ! Thanks. (Please reply here).--Pah777 (talk) 22:02, 21 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

لو سمحت؟ لو سمحت؟[edit]

Hey, I'm going to send this as a semi-standard template to you and the other two avowed Arabic speakers/readers on the WS Project. I am currently engaged in a seemingly futile (ومتخلف) argument with a user (Kwami) over the source of Arabic orthography and to a certain degree etymology. It's at this point too convoluted to describe, but I would very much appreciate any qualified person stepping in and not so much helping me as adding their voice to what appears to be - on my side - evidence, versus - on his side - repetition and unqualified reversion. Thanks!

I realize that you list yourself as being relatively inexperienced with Arabic, but if you have any interest in [its] orthography or etymology, please join this awful discussion... lol, not the best pitch. You're invited![edit]

Hello, Msanford,

You do not need to attend the conference to sign up for the Wikimeetup, but you are certainly welcome! Bastique ☎ call me!

(PS: Please share this with those you know who might not be on the delivery list, i.e. Users in Montreal/Quebec)

I noticed you are a participant of the WikiProject Quebec.

The Outline of Quebec was created a few days ago and is under vigorous development. It fills a gap in Wikipedia's set of outlines. It is the 3rd outline to date about a Canadian province/territory.

Outlines form one of the subsystems of Wikipedia's contents navigation system. For more information on outlines, see Wikipedia:Outlines and Wikipedia:WikiProject Outlines.

The goals for the Outline of Quebec is to complete it to as high a standard of quality as possible, and to make it even better than the Outline of Saskatchewan and the Outline of British Columbia.

Once the Outline of Quebec is completed, it will provide an important example to others creating outlines for the remaining provinces and territories of Canada.

Please take a look at the outline to see if you can notice (and fill in) any missing topics. Pictures would also be nice (the rarer and the more interesting, the better).

Thank you.

Sincerely, The Transhumanist 10:39, 24 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
