fix wikilink to eliminate redirect

You've been doing a lot of edits marked "fix wikilink to eliminate redirect". I understand the impulse, but a redirect is not a problem. When you're "fixing" a non-piped wikilink, you're actually eliminating some useful aspects of it. Please see WP:NOTBROKEN for an explanation. --Nat Gertler (talk) 22:59, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for the notice. As I've listed above, some articles are incorrectly linked and my enthusiasm to "fix" things carried over to the redirects. I had thought redirects were imprecise but if there's a policy to leave them "as is" then I'll leave them alone. Mtminchi08 (talk) 23:20, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

I have undone all of the ones you did for Jack Kirby's Fourth World which were non-piped before, also the ones for Kamandi: The Last Boy on Earth. I have not bothered changing the ones where you just changed the piping; there may be an argument for it in some cases. ("Kamandi" is actually a good example of why to avoid it. Currently, we have one article for both Kamandi-the-character and Kamandi-the-magazine, but the in the future it is certainly possible that we'll want to separate that. It's a lot easier if most of the links for the series are already for the series name.) Thanks for the energy and enthusiasm in editing; many of your edits are worthwhile. --Nat Gertler (talk) 23:52, 31 December 2010 (UTC)

Kudos

Just want to say: Amazing work you did on the Frank Miller GCD link. I guess you did an "Advanced Search" combination somehow; whatever it was, my compliments on some very nice, very finessed work! With regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 16:50, 17 January 2011 (UTC)

Yep. Thank you for the appreciation. Working on the comics articles can be quite a sisyphean task. The Miller article alone has so many "citation needed" flags that I almost dread looking at it. Every rumor and insubstantial "fact" seems to end up in the comics biography articles. You do a great job with finding cites for your work. I wish more folks would either learn how to use Google or at least buy some back issues of The Comics Journal or the TwoMorrows magazines. Until next time - happy editing!

Mtminchi08 (talk) 07:17, 18 January 2011 (UTC)

That's very nice of you to say. I can tell you this: The contributions and the editorial savvy of WikiProjects Comics editors has grown tremendously in the past year alone. It's nice to see editors like you doing such good stuff. I'll take a look at Goodwin and Wolfman later as you suggest and help where I can. Hi! I noticed that you placed your user page in Category:Wikipedians by interest, specifying "Religion" as the sort key. Did you intend to use Category:Wikipedians interested in religions? Thanks, -- Black Falcon (talk) 16:50, 2 February 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for noticing that. I've changed it to Category:Wikipedians interested in religions. Mtminchi08 (talk) 10:29, 3 February 2011 (UTC)
I'm happy to have helped. Cheers! -- Black Falcon (talk) 15:54, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Many thanks...

No problem; editing that article must've been rather difficult at times yesterday, with all the views and edits it was getting all at once. – Minh Nguyễn (talk, contribs) 05:24, 3 May 2011 (UTC)

Pope JP2

Thanks, I abhor that word in writing. It literally makes the prose look like it was written by a 3rd grader. It reminds me of public speakers who stammer and say "um" before every sentence.--Mike - Μολὼν λαβέ 17:34, 20 July 2011 (UTC)

DC Special Series

Thank you for the recognition! I always loved that series. In fact, I'm adding data about creative teams that contributed to the title. Fma12 (talk) 03:09, 31 August 2011 (UTC)

Great cites

I have to admire an editor whose reference bookshelf may be better than mine! Great cites on that item at Roy Thomas, and I'll look for that book, as you suggest. Do you think we need all three cites to support the sentence? Would it be possible, since these are offline sources, to include a supporting quote from the source, as I often see when print publications are quoted? If you can. Great work finding those references! -- Tenebrae (talk) 01:03, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Wow, thanks — I might take you up on that. I have a decent run of Comic Book Artist, a nearly complete run of Alter Ego, about 20 Back Issues and several assorted Amazing Heroes and The Comics Journal from the 1970s and '80s ... and it always seems as if the particular issue I need at a given time is missing! : )
I'm not as familiar with DC as I am with Marvel, but if there were several of DC preview comics — a series, essentially — I don't see why it wouldn't be as notable as any other series. I say for for it. Grand Comics Database should be a big supporting help.
That Chesler information is fascinating; Jerry Bails' Who's Who has the studio closed down around 1953. But Chesler had a son; maybe the son took over and continued it under another name into the '70s? Now there's a potentially rich vein of comics history to explore. And may I say what a pleasure it is to collaborate with another comics historian with an interest in this "classical" (Golden-to-Bronze) era! With regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 04:01, 7 September 2011 (UTC)

Ditko

Finally got around to adding that DC Profiles thing. I can't seem to identify one of the characters. Do you think you might be able to?

Great find you made! Regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 00:32, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

Yes, that's the Odd Man from Detective Comics #487 (1979). I already made the edit to the Ditko page. Mtminchi08 (talk) 01:13, 8 September 2011 (UTC)

DC inserts

Wow! Excellent work! Such attention to detail, such as quote marks for features within an italicized comics title. Clear, direct, declarative writing. And while I'm not a fan of separating "Notes" and "References" as two different kinds of footnotes, I see why one would do that when you have footnotes inside a table as well as in prose text. I made some copy edits, and templated a couple of footnotes (you might want to have a crack at the rest), but overall, I thought this was terrific. I am truly impressed. And my God, what an amount of work! --Tenebrae (talk) 18:16, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the kind words. I'm adding links to the article now and will work on the templating later.Mtminchi08 (talk) 18:28, 11 September 2011 (UTC)

Hi, Mtminchi08, I started with DC Retroactive page today. It is incomplete so I have to add some information and sources, which will take some time. I would be glad if you could help me with it. For example, correcting any grammar mistakes (I'm not a native English speaker so mistakes may happen, of course) and any information or detail that you consider need to be added to the article. Cheers! :) Fma12 (talk) 18:46, 18 September 2011 (UTC)

Fifty who made dc great

Hi, Mtminchi08; to be honest, I did not know about the existence of that book, which I would like to have in my hands some day! I hope the article be online soon so I will upload the cover of that book. The only thing I would add to your article is a parameter (like the chart of this article has) which allows reader to sort the categories by name, or field. I will try to find how to do it. Thanks for your consideration again! Fma12 (talk) 23:57, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Marshall Rogers

Oh, yeah, I would totally cite Comics Revue — which I've just found out that Don Markstein used to edit! I did see the cites for the portfolios and was totally tickled to see them. I think I have that issue of Back Issue — love that magazine (and you undoubtedly know, Marshall and Englehart's Batman is the cover story of the current issue). And wow, did I not realize I was shooting a piece of history back in '79 when Dean Mullaney and I went to Marshall's apartment (this was when Dean was publishing the first Detectives Inc.), and I took a photo of the two of them and Tom Orzechowski. It is so funny how in certain ways, no gesture gets wasted.

So great to work with you, as always, especially on a too-soon-departed talent's still-undeveloped article. Looking forward to us making it something, buddy. With regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 16:36, 26 October 2011 (UTC)

Thanks again for help with the formatting of my citations. The templates are something which I'm still trying to "get the hang of", so your assistance is appreciated. I do have a question for you. DC Comics Year By Year A Visual Chronicle has chapters which are written by multiple authors. If, as in the case of the Carmine Infantino article, I make citations to different chapters/authors, do I need to show the entire cite (i.e. book title, ISBN, publisher) or can I just list the author name and chapter title followed by the book's title only? It's been many years since I did extensive footnoting/citation so I'm trying to err on the side of caution.
Here's an example of what I'm thinking of:
  • McAvennie, Michael; Dolan, Hannah, ed. (2010). "1960s". DC Comics Year By Year A Visual Chronicle. Dorling Kindersley. p. 103. ISBN 978-0-7566-6742-9.
  • McAvennie "1960s" DC Comics Year By Year A Visual Chronicle p. 110:
  • Manning, Matthew K. "1980s" DC Comics Year By Year A Visual Chronicle p. 192:
Mtminchi08 (talk) 02:22, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

I think that's workable, though I would trim it more.

  • McAvennie, Michael; Dolan, Hannah, ed. (2010). "1960s". DC Comics Year By Year A Visual Chronicle. Dorling Kindersley. p. 103. ISBN 978-0-7566-6742-9.
  • McAvennie in Hannah, p. 110
  • Manning, Matthew K. "1980s" in Hannah, p. 192

There might be other ways. I like to keep it as simple as possible. That's the thing with Wikipedia, though — someone who knows footnoting inside and out will, hopefully, come straighten out any mistakes you or I might make! --Tenebrae (talk) 22:37, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

One caution: This doesn't look like an authorized DC Comics publication judging from the publisher's name, but if it is authorized, I would use it for strictly factual statements and not qualitative ones; an authorized book saying "Wonder Woman is the top superheroine in the world" would be, as you can imagine, not an unbiased statement. Cheers! --Tenebrae (talk) 22:39, 5 November 2011 (UTC)

Kudos!

Nice work!

Very, very nice work on Janice Race and Greg Potter. Your research and your clear, full citations are something every editor should emulate. Janice Race may or may not reach notability standards, but I'm staying clear of that. I've made some copy edits, and a couple of line edits (e.g., "decided to leave" can be streamlined to simply "left") and I've noted that a series' artist, who generally designs the costume, is typically given as a character's co-creator. Otherwise, I say again: Terrific work!! I'm flattered that you asked for my input. With great regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 22:18, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Thanks again for your feedback. It's much appreciated. Mtminchi08 (talk) 22:25, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

New articles

Hi Mtminchi ! Your articles are really brilliant, with lot of reliable sources provided. Congratulations! In the case of Greg Potter in particular, I added the All-Star Squadron issue where a brief story of "Jemm, Son of Saturn" is included. I also supressed the DC Sampler title because that is in fact a reprint of #1 Jemm... series (source: [1]). Your contributions are great ! Thanks for taking my opinions in mind. Kind regards, Fma12 (talk) 22:33, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Thank you again for your input. I appreciate the feedback. Mtminchi08 (talk) 23:03, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Frank Miller (comics)

More excellent work as usual. And I'm very impressed by your soliciting feedback from other editors; so much so that I'm going to start doing that myself when I do large edits — thank you for the inspiration. I've made some copy edits and streamlined some text. I think the one suggestion I can make is that sometimes the quotes in your footnotes would be right at home in the article proper, expanding on or giving expert testimony to certain points. Aside from that minor observation: Bravo, bravo, bravo. I've watchlisted the article, and will try to help on it with cites and such myself; believe it or not, Sunday is a work day for me (newspapers never sleep), so I was just stepping in for a breather in-between things. Keep it up, M! --Tenebrae (talk) 20:59, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Wikipedia is meant to be a collaboration so that's why I actively ask for feedback and oversight. Also, you're one of the major contributors to the comics articles, so it's good to get your opinion on things. The Frank Miller article has been in dire need of some cleanup for a while. At some point, I want to do the same for the Steve Gerber page. There's at least four articles that I want to create: Gary Cohn (comics), Jack C. Harris, Richard Howell (comics), and Sol Harrison. The Harrison one will probably be first as I have the most reference on him. Thanks again for your opinion and your time. Mtminchi08 (talk) 23:12, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
Certainly, and thank you for all your excellent work. Great book citation on Bill Finger; wish more editors would explore using books.
I used to know Richard, back when he was associate publisher of Harris Comics. The poor guy has been through more than people should have to endure. And he absolutely warrants an article. I'm surprised to hear there isn't one. But then, I was amazed there weren't any articles for Joe Maneely, George Tuska or a whole lot of other legends of the field until I started them.
Always looking forward to seeing your work. With regards--Tenebrae (talk) 18:27, 11 December 2011 (UTC)

Terrific work as always, Mtminchi! I've been wanting to create a Jack C. Harris myself for a while now, and I couldn't have done it any better. You even did archive links! Bravo!!! With regards, Tenebrae (talk) 00:51, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the praise. One of the things I learned while researching this article is the existence of a "lost" Hulk/Human Torch story written by Harris and drawn by Steve Ditko circa 1984. Marvel finally published it last year in a one-shot. Something to track down for the collection! Hope to get a few more new articles created in the next few weeks or so. I'll keep you posted as they go online. Mtminchi08 (talk) 01:36, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
That's amazing news about the Ditko story. And now it's my turn to ask you to oversee some of my work. I ran across a 1973 interview with Gray Morrow and just thought I'd add a few quotes to his article. Several hours later.... I know there's more to say about his career, especially his DC Burroughs' stuff, but I'm exhausted! I leave him to your capable hands! One thing I haven't found out yet: Was Betty Morrow his (first) wife or some other relative? Jerry Bails' Who's Who only says "relative".--Tenebrae (talk) 00:08, 25 March 2012 (UTC)
Great job on the Gray Morrow article! I'll try to add to it sometime soon. Mtminchi08 (talk) 23:39, 25 March 2012 (UTC)

Cary Burkett

Hi, I've seen your article and I like it very much, really. Sincerely, I did not know much about this writer, so your article gave me further knowledge about him and his work. I'll take a look to Gary Cohn article, a writer I knew when reading his Amethyst comics in the 80s. But I don't know much about his work appart from the comic I mentioned, so I think this is a good opportunity to know more about him and his work. I'll be searching for further information about both authors, Burkett and Cohn, all and I'll add it to the articles if necessary.
Although I was focused on football articles during the last months, I took a time to write the Mike McKone and Frank Cho bibliography, and my plan for a near future is to update (not in great detail because it would be excesively large) the Curt Swan work at DC Comics. At least his most significative contributions for Superman, Legion, Lois Lane, and others.
Thanks for your feedback and great contributions to WP, kind regards. Fma12 (talk) 17:33, 25 June 2012 (UTC)

Ways to improve DC Comics Bonus Book

Hi, I'm Accedie. Mtminchi08, thanks for creating DC Comics Bonus Book!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Please include some secondary sources (like books or articles) on this topic, especially to back up the statements in the lead (e.g., that inserts didn't increase the price of the comic book). Searching Google books is a good easy start :)

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Thanks for the advice. I have added a reference that I found through Google Books and am continuing to search for additional citations.

Thanks! Mtminchi08 (talk) 23:40, 11 July 2013 (UTC)

I'll check these out

Sol Harrison and Richard Howell have needed articles for a long time. I'm glad you've created them! One of these days we'll get around to Jack Schiff! With great regards, Tenebrae (talk) 17:56, 16 July 2013 (UTC)

Thank you again for the feedback. It's always appreciated. Mtminchi08 (talk) 00:38, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

New articles

Hi, Mtminchi08. I'm glad to know you are not only contributing but creating new comics articles. I'll make a little contribution with the cover of the series to illustrate Time Warp, as I did with other series before. Many thanks for keeping me in mind !!! Best wishes ;) Fma12 (talk) 17:15, 18 July 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for posting the cover to the article. It's good to collaborate with you again. Mtminchi08 (talk) 00:40, 20 July 2013 (UTC)

Comics creator bylines

Hi again. Happy Holidays! Thanks for reformatting all those cites with templates. But just out of curiosity, what do you mean by "bylines"? I understand how that term applies to newspapers, but how does it apply to webpages? Nightscream (talk) 03:05, 2 December 2013 (UTC)

I just meant author names. "Bylines" may not be the correct term necessarily for a webpage but that's what I meant. Writers should always receive credit where ever possible IMHO. Mtminchi08 (talk) 03:15, 2 December 2013 (UTC)
Agreed. I spend quite a bit of time adding missing publication info to citations. What's weird is that sometimes, the editor who added the cite will include most of the publication info like the story title, publication, date, etc., but will leave out the author, even when it's right there at the top of the story. And it's apparently common among so many editors. I sometimes wonder if there's an anti-author faction of Wikipedia editors out there. :-)

Holiday Greetings

You too! Thanks.  :-) Nightscream (talk) 22:05, 22 December 2013 (UTC)

Thank you, my friend and colleague! And very best wishes to you as well. Keep up the great work! --Tenebrae (talk) 15:54, 23 December 2013 (UTC)

Compliment

Some really nice citing work at Jim Steranko! I'd have hit the "thank you" button, but there were too many good edits to thank you for! --Tenebrae (talk) 18:11, 5 January 2014 (UTC)

Brian Michael Bendis

Hi. I have been correcting a few instances of "witten" to "written" and wondered if you could check on this edit to Brian Michael Bendis to see if the spelling mistake was introduced in Wikipedia (thus can be fixed) or if it merely reproduces an error in the original source (may need a [ sic ])? Many thanks. --Jameboy (talk) 10:39, 30 January 2014 (UTC)

Hey Mtminchi. I noticed you were interested in a meetup we did at the Pritzker Military Museum & Library last year. The Jane Addams Hull-House Museum is doing an edit-a-thon later next week. Unfortunately, it's kind of on a weird day of the week to accommodate students at UIC, but you're welcome to join us if you're free. Let us know if you can make it. Drafts

Hey there, I see that you have put a bunch of work into articles on comics creators. Maybe you can help me - I am trying to get the draft pages at User:BOZ/Draft pages back into article space. In particular, Draft:Beth Sotelo, Draft:David Morgan-Mar, Draft:Jason Holmgren, Draft:Klaus Scherwinski, and Draft:Steve Crompton are draft space pages related to WikiProject Comics, but any you would be willing to work on would be great. If you have any independent reliable sources to add to any of these articles, we may be able to get them moved into article space. BOZ (talk) 05:38, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

I'll try to help out in the next few days or so. I don't have much background knowledge on roleplaying games but I'll see if I can assist in some way. Mtminchi08 (talk) 02:53, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
No problem - anything at all that you can do to help is appreciated. :) BOZ (talk) 05:24, 22 August 2014 (UTC)
While most on that list are RPG-related, a few are (also) comics-related, so I picked those out and mentioned them in my initial note to you above in case that is where you are more comfortable working. I only ask because I respect the work you have been doing, and think you can help out with these, in at least some small way. :) BOZ (talk) 05:03, 24 August 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for your help - I moved the ones you worked on back into article space. Scherwinski was speedy deleted immediately after creation, and Holmgren was PRODded after a couple of years, but neither one had citations when they were deleted and I think that has now been overcome at least minimally. If someone questions their notability again, I can always put them back into draft space. Thanks again! :) BOZ (talk) 19:06, 30 August 2014 (UTC)
Glad that I was able to assist! Mtminchi08 (talk) 23:21, 30 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi there,

I recently restored this article from a speedy delete; do you have any sources you can add to it? BOZ (talk) 03:55, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

Give me a few days to look into it. I know he was an inker for DC back in the 1980s so there should be something!

Mtminchi08 (talk) 04:01, 21 October 2014 (UTC)

Awesome job, well done! BOZ (talk) 04:17, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks, Mtminchi08. I'd had some extremely frustrating dealings with a couple of admins who think it's OK for other editors to throw the f-word around and mistreat old-timers like me, and I had to get away for a while. It's bad for Wikipedia when poorly socialized, angry young white guys take over. But I knew you and some of the other veterans (including my old buddy BOZ above) would keep the home fires burning! : )   --Tenebrae (talk) 04:24, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

Steve Crompton

Is there anything you can do for Draft:Steve Crompton? I found it as an abandoned AFC and did a little bit of work on it. If you can improve it a little, I could move it into mainspace. BOZ (talk) 04:32, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

Hey Mtminchi08, let me know if there is anything you can do for this one, thank. BOZ (talk) 20:25, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
I'll try to get to it this weekend. I've been working my way through a "project" of sorts on the various comics articles that I want to focus on for the next few weeks. Mtminchi08 (talk) 20:29, 25 October 2014 (UTC)
Awesome, that sounds great. :) BOZ (talk) 03:48, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for working on this one! BOZ (talk) 02:45, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
I cleaned up the citation formatting and did some other "nuts and bolts" type work. I've done what I can do. The two "selected bibliographies" section are pretty messy and given my lack of familiarity with games and underground comics, I didn't try untangling them. They need to be in a more legible layout and italics should be added to each title. Hope that helps. Mtminchi08 (talk) 03:27, 27 October 2014 (UTC)
I'll take what I can get. ;) Thanks! BOZ (talk) 11:59, 27 October 2014 (UTC)

Same thing as months ago

Well, I said it was good to be back, and I appreciated the kind words from you and other editors. But now the same editor who drove me away before with his repeated "fuck offs" and the admin who says it's OK to tell other editors to fuck off are it again. I was minding my own business, not even thinking about that foulmouthed person, and just trying to put it behind me. But within days of my return he's on my talk page, poking me a stick. And the admin is saying, literally, that if I don't like being told "fuck off" that all my past good work means nothing and that I should leave Wikipedia.

I don't know what my future is here. I've started an ANI here, and hopefully something will come of that. I just wanted to let some of the good and responsible editors here know, and that if they're interested in following what's going on, that's the link. I am disheartened as hell. --Tenebrae (talk) 10:03, 5 November 2014 (UTC)

Sorry to hear about this messed-up situation. I've been considering scaling back my own involvement on Wikipedia and took a Wikibreak for the entire month of September. A current "project" that I'm working on here will keep me busy through the end of the year but as of January 1, I want to try reducing my participation. Dear Mtminchi08,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! Thank you for the kind thoughts and for all your consistently excellent work. Wow!

Those three articles are magnificent! So cleanly written in perfect encyclopedic tone, so well-sourced, so well-organized! And as an aside, I'm amazed that José Delbo had fallen through the cracks and there wasn't an article for him! Mtminchi08 ... amazing and wonderful work, man! Draft articles

Hey, Mtminchi08! I think you have helped me a little with this before, but if you have the time, could you help me clean out some draft pages that I have pending? Beth Sotelo and David Morgan-Mar are the only ones I have that are directly related to comics, but anything you could do for any of the pages at User:BOZ/Draft pages to help get them ready for mainspace would help a ton. BOZ (talk) 13:22, 30 August 2015 (UTC)

I'll try to work on them sometime next weekend. Mtminchi08 (talk) 04:02, 31 August 2015 (UTC)
Awesome, thanks. :) BOZ (talk) 13:19, 31 August 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for doing some cleanup on those two! I know the rest of the pages at User:BOZ/Draft pages are not exactly related to comics, but anything you could do for any of those would be appreciated. :) BOZ (talk) 13:22, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

Jim Lee

Hi. Thanks for alerting me, because I have NO IDEA how all that stuff got removed (along with alot of other stuff you didn't mention), since I have no memory of doing so, and certainly didn't intend to. After all, I was the one who added the recent stuff on Europa and All-Star, so I certainly didn't want to remove it. I've restored that info. Let me know if I missed anything. Thanks again. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Input requested

There is a dispute at Talk:Spider-Man and the X-Men over whether a redlink editor's edits violate WikiProject Comics guidelines as fancruft and issue-by-issue synopses. A comparison of two versions is here. I am writing to some longtime Project editors individually, since Portal talk:Comics appears to have very little traffic and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Comics/Notice board has had no postings in years. --Tenebrae (talk) 19:26, 28 February 2016 (UTC)

Hi there, would you be able to help improve the Atlantis (Marvel Comics) at all? Thanks! 65.126.152.254 (talk) 23:45, 14 March 2016 (UTC)

Do you have anything to improve Master of Kung Fu? 65.126.152.254 (talk) 17:48, 21 March 2016 (UTC)

The Atlantis article is kind of outside of my scope. The days when I could recite the OHOTMU from memory are long past but I'll try to do a bit of work on it.
Most of the citations in the Master of Kung Fu article are ones which I had added to the Shang-Chi article in the last few years. It wasn't a series which I followed very closely so whatever knowledge base I have for it has already been used up. Mtminchi08 (talk) 01:46, 26 March 2016 (UTC)
OK, thanks for looking into that. :) 65.126.152.254 (talk) 20:12, 29 March 2016 (UTC)

Another exemplary job. And congratulations on eight years here!! I made one trim for wordiness — and then self-reverted when I saw your wording was better! So the only, very minor thing I did was change a couple words in one spot to avoid a phrase being used twice in close succession. You remain a great editor and one of my most valued colleagues.

As long as I'm here, and since discussion seems to have stalled, let me add a neutral notice that there is an RfC at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style/Comics#Request for Comment: Quotes and italics. --Tenebrae (talk) 12:25, 28 May 2016 (UTC)

Very cool! And if you go to "View source" on your browser, you can copy paste the actual OCR'd text into a Word doc for posterity. Great find! Though I have to say the editing on that article isn't great: "tho" and "thru" aren't really words, and the Silver Surfer as Galactus' "son" was an error on the caption-writer's part. But still, dude ... awesome! --Tenebrae (talk) 15:53, 17 July 2016 (UTC)

Toonopedia archiving

A friend of mine not much older than me is going in for open-heart surgery in a few days. This and other concerns make me want to update you and a couple of other good Wikipedia editor-friends about where to find my ongoing project to protect Toonopedia, which can't be automatically archived at Archive.org. There is a danger that this unique source of comics / cartoon information may go dark permanently: Don Markstein died a few years ago, and while Toonopedia has mostly been up during that time, there have been outages lasting from a day or two to weeks.

In case no one sees me editing for a couple, three months, it might mean something's happened to me. If that's the case, I'd like you to know why where Webcitation archive links are: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Tenebrae/Toonopedia_backup.

My organization of them is a bit haphazard — I inadvertently started two alphabetical lists, and other editors' archiving of C and D are listed separately. But it's mostly understandable: The list at User:Tenebrae/Toonopedia backup#Entries added to articles shows my progress thus far in incorporating archived links into Wikipedia. It's only the archived links above that section that still need to be placed.

No action is being asked for. I just wanted to feel reassured that if anything premature ever happens to me that the archived links not yet placed in Wikipedia articles — and the Toonopedia information, which in some cases doesn't appear in many or even any other source — don't become lost to history. With great regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 19:00, 17 September 2016 (UTC)
