Welcome to The Wikipedia Adventure![edit]

Hi NM Demo! We're so happy you wanted to play to learn, as a friendly and fun way to get into our community and mission. I think these links might be helpful to you as you get started.

Sockpuppet[edit]

Hi Nick. You have created another account. So will you be considered as a sockpuppet. If yes, then you will be blocked isn't it? ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk 14:52, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Itcouldbepossible: I certainly hope not! We do not encourage multiple accounts, but it is legitimate for certain specific purposes, and I have declared my connections between the two on both pages, plus my reason for using this one now. Just so you understand, I have set up this account some years ago explicitly to use when training new editors how to use Wikipedia. I have just been given a place on an online 'Train the Trainers' course next month, run by Wikimedia UK so that I can train other people via Zoom who want to start from scratch using Wikipedia. I need to refresh my skills in using Visual Editor and in understanding what exactly a new user actually sees when they start with a new account here, and before they start changing anything. So, apart from keeping my admin account logged in on my mobile, on desktop/laptop I'm trying to use this one to better understand the new user experience.
I'm also building up a list of all the things I find different from my own normal settings, which you can see at User:NM Demo - including how to fix them to make the editing experience better. What would be blockable were I to to use both accounts at the same time to pretend to be two different users so that I falsely get my way in consensus discussions. I wouldn't encourage anyone to use two accounts at once as I'm currently doing, but for the next couple of months I will be trying to imagine myself to be a beginner here and gain knowledge in using what I've always regarded as that horrible WP:VE tool.
PS: you asked at the Teahouse about correcting my typo of 'multiple'. Although I'm personally OK with someone fixing typos that cause confusion to others (and I do do this at the Teahouse), my advice would be to leave it if it's really minor, or fix it and ping the original editor via an edit summary to explain you're trying to help. A lot of other editors get extremely touchy, especially with new users, if they fiddle with another person's posts, even in good faith. WP:TWA[edit]

Can you help me out with the adventure. I have having some problem. It does not work for me. Am I doing something wrong? ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk 15:01, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I can only offer you two bits of advice: don't use it on a mobile or with an old browser. there is a list of issues to be aware of at the start of the Adventure. Keep an exact note of what problems you encounter and where, and report it via the Feedback form. I'm sorry I can't help further. Busy time, I'm afraid. @NM Demo I always do it from the pc. Anyway thanks for the detailed explaination of the previous question. ― ItcouldbepossibleTalk 15:15, 24 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I was curious why I've been seeing you editing on this account more frequently, and eventually I noticed your (alt's) userpage, and that you recommend Twinkle. I just thought I'd mention here that RedWarn might be more useful to newcomers, due to it's friendlier UI (through it lacks many features Twinkle has, e.g. tagging). Thanks for all your work in this area! ― Qwerfjkltalk 22:21, 29 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
