File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Sir Ralph Wedgewood as built in garter blue pulling the Coronation.jpeg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status and its source. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously.

If you did not create this work entirely yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. You will also need to state under what licensing terms it was released. Please refer to the image use policy to learn what files you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. The page on copyright tags may help you to find the correct tag to use for your file.

Please add this information by editing the image description page. If the necessary information is not added within the next seven days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please also check any other files you may have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Steel1943 (talk) 21:13, 5 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of GNR Class A1 1470 Great Northern

[edit]

Hello NSW V Sets,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged GNR Class A1 1470 Great Northern for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. ubiquity (talk) 20:52, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

GNR Class A1 1470 Great Northern

[edit]

I see you are working on an article entitled "GNR Class A1 1470 Great Northern". Articles in the main space are supposed to be complete when they appear. Why not work on it in Draft:GNR Class A1 1470 Great Northern and then move it to the main space when you are ready? ubiquity (talk) 21:05, 23 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Redrose64. I noticed that you made a change to an article, GNR Class A1 1470 Great Northern, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. You are also adding a lot of information that is demonstrably untrue, all that I can think is that you are either using an extremely unreliable source, or you're simply making it up as you go along. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:13, 2 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at GNR Class A1 1470 Great Northern, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. --Redrose64 (talk) 21:42, 3 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ok "Redrose64", I've put a reference down on the page to SHOW you where I get the information, I'm sorry if this is a bad reference, but this is the most reliable site there is, alright? Thanks, NSW V Sets. Great Northern was not withdrawn in 1945, that was it's rebuild date!
No, it's not, because it doesn't support your changes: in particular, in that web page I have easily found the sentence "The only A1 not be rebuilt as an A3 was No. 4470 Great Northern, which was rebuilt by Thompson in 1945 as Class A1/1." which directly contradicts what you have been writing.
The most reliable sources are those published by the RCTS, such as
  • Groves, Norman (1992). Great Northern Locomotive History: Volume 3b 1911-1922 The Gresley Era. Lincoln: RCTS. ISBN 0-901115-70-3.
  • Boddy, M.G.; Neve, E.; Yeadon, W.B. (April 1973). Fry, E.V. (ed.). Locomotives of the L.N.E.R., part 2A: Tender Engines - Classes A1 to A10. Kenilworth: RCTS. ISBN 0-901115-25-8. OCLC 315757685.
and also
Then there are the books written by reputable railway authors such as Cecil J. Allen and O. S. Nock. But you simply cannot guess or even make things up that you think sound plausible. Everything that you add that is challenged (or likely to be challenged) must be referenced, see WP:CITEBEGIN for how to do this; this is part of the core content policy of verifiability. --Redrose64 (talk) 10:20, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
As for the date of rebuilding to class A1/1 - we have two separate articles dealing with the locomotive in its two forms. Both use {{Infobox locomotive}}, and in that, parameters like |builddate=|totalproduction=|rebuilder=|rebuilddate=|numberrebuilt=, which are displayed near the top, concern the origin of the locomotive(s) - notice how in LNER Thompson Class A1/1, it uses |rebuilder=Doncaster Works|rebuilddate=1945|numberrebuilt=1 and these are shown below a heading "Type and origin"; whereas parameters like |lastrundate=|retiredate=|withdrawndate=|scrapdate=|disposition=, which are displayed near the bottom below a heading "Career", concern the fate of the locomotive(s). If you don't like |withdrawndate= you could use |lastrundate=. --Redrose64 (talk) 12:13, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Your recent changes have added far too much that is simply wrong. So, Please stop adding unsourced content, as you did to GNR Class A1 1470 Great Northern. This contravenes Wikipedia's policy on verifiability. If you continue to do so, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. --Redrose64 (talk) 23:41, 17 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:HornbyGreatNorthernModel.jpeg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
