Speedy deletion nomination of Australian islamic library[edit]

Hello Nabeelsahab,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Australian islamic library for deletion, because it seems to be promotional, rather than an encyclopedia article.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. LS1979 (talk) 10:10, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Australian islamic library[edit]

Hi, I'm Lstanley1979. Nabeelsahab, thanks for creating Australian islamic library!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Hello! On reflection, I think the library might be worthy of a Wikipedia article. For sourcing requirements, you should probably read WP:RS as a guide to how to properly reference an article.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse. LS1979 (talk) 18:52, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I had a look through the page history and for some reason my CSD tagging of the article is not showing up, so I haven't re-nominated it. It could be a notable subject; however, it still needs a lot of work to get it up to the standard Wikipedia requires from its contributors.

To further elaborate, what you need to add is sources which discuss the library from unrelated third parties. The sources you add compare other libraries with your subject; Wikipedia generally requires references which demonstrate that the library is notable in itself. Ideally, an institution such as your library needs to have had interest from media or academia. The problem with the article at the moment is that it doesn't show that other people have discussed the library as being significant in its field. I'm sure it is notable, but you need to prove that to us.

However, thank you for writing it. I will give it a clean-up and a redraft later on as per the style of other Wikipedia articles (I'll start by moving the page to a correctly capitalised title, which should be Australian Islamic Library. You now need to add some content that demonstrates that the library is a centre of research that other people have cited as being important. Otherwise, it may be taken through a deletion process. Further to this, I've redrafted the article to keep most of the necessary information but removing the aspects which were irrelevant. LS1979 (talk) 19:16, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm BracketBot. I have automatically detected that your edit to List of digital library projects may have broken the syntax by modifying 1 "[]"s. If you have, don't worry: just edit the page again to fix it. If I misunderstood what happened, or if you have any questions, you can leave a message on my operator's talk page.

List of unpaired brackets remaining on the page:
  • |[[Tafsir]], [[Hadith]], [[Fiqh]], Usool and Islamic Scholarship - Sunni School of thought]
  • |>112,000 volumes; >40 million pages.

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, BracketBot (talk) 23:24, 30 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
