Hi Nasro! For some reason yours is the only page I can write on. Not sure if I'm even doing this right, but see you in class tomorrow!Julietabulie (talk) 23:52, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Article selection[edit]

Hi Nasro, community media and public broadcasting are both very broad topics, so you have to be ambitious to take them on! Definitely community media is most in need of improvement, as it relies on a limited number of sources, is in need of some cleanup and needs to be wikified (wikilinks and inline citations). The Clean Water Act and Federal taxation in the United States at first sight do not appear to fit your course so well, but I am not familiar with these policies, so best to discuss it with your professor. Furthermore the federal taxation in the US article is currently proposed for deletion. Looking to the four proposals, and considering Antony–22's excellent tips, I think Community media would be the best. Elekhh (talk) 07:22, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with your mentor that community media is the best choice. Alex also listed it. I don't know if she will select it, but since the article needs citations and needs to be rewritten in Wikipedia form, the two of you could collaborate by selecting different sections to work on. I think public broadcasting is too broad. Although it needs work, most of the work it needs is in making the language more neutral. I think that's a task you would take on after you have some experience writing in Wikipedia style.Marlenefine (talk) 18:40, 17 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the feedback, I have chosen community media as my article to edit! NasroF (talk) 18:31, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to inform everyone, I have changed my article to Community Broadband Bill of 2007 After gaining more insight on the topic I believe my research and expansion on this article will lead to a more valuable contributions within the wikipedia community. NasroF (talk) 18:31, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nasro, good to see you back, I was already starting to get worried :). Your new choice appears to be much easier than the previous one, and might allow you to do some more focused research. As I have no background knowledge in the field, I will assume you discussed this with your professor and found to be a topic of relevance. The article is very short and seems to be in urgent need of update and expansion. Best regards. --Elekhh (talk) 20:44, 23 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Community Broadband Bill of 2007[edit]

Hi Nasro I had a look to your sandbox, and see you are progressing well. Please see a few hints below:

  • I made an edit to show how you can use the same reference multiple times by using the "ref name" function. This will keep the list of references more tidy. You can do the same with the other references.
  • Throughout the article, probably it would be more accurate to refer to this as "Bill" not "Act", as it "was never enacted".
  • Regarding the Community Broadband Coalition, Wikipedia -as any encyclopedia- is not supposed to provide the full list of signatories (See WP:NOTREPOSITORY), but a short summary in form of prose. The summary can contain the most notable organizations (usually only those which already have a Wikipedia article). You might be able to find some newspaper articles reporting on this, and see which organizations do they mention.
  • Regarding further sources, if this Bill has been debated in the public, I would imagine you could find good sources in major newspapers. You could find there material relating to public support for the bill, or legal issues. It would be good to know when and why was it abandoned.
  • For further specialized feedback regarding content, you can always ask for help at related WikiProjects, such as WikiProject Law, or WikiProject United States Public Policy.

Hope these hints help you bring the article further. Please don't hesitate to drop me a message whenever you need help. Cheers, Elekhh (talk) 22:08, 6 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]
