Welcome!

[edit]

Hello, Natasha1974, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of the pages you created, such as Jamie Bloom, may not conform to some of Wikipedia's guidelines, and may not be retained.

There's a page about creating articles you may want to read called Your first article. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on this page, followed by your question, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Questions or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome!  GILO   A&E 17:32, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Jamie Bloom requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that your page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here.  GILO   A&E 17:32, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This help request has been answered. If you need more help, place a new {{help me}} request on this page followed by your questions, contact the responding user(s) directly on their user talk page, or consider visiting the Teahouse.
Why should this page be deleted? What do i need to do to make sure it is not deleted? Many thanksNatasha1974 (talk) 18:16, 9 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia is selective about subjects for articles: the inclusion citerion is called Wikipedia:Notability, and is not a matter of saying so but has to be demonstrated by references showing "significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject." Significant means more than just listing-type mentions; reliable excludes Myspace, Facebook, blogs, places where anyone can post anything; independent excludes the subject's own website, affiliated ones and anything based on press releases. The test is, have people not connected with the subject thought him significant enough to write substantial comment about? See WP:ANS and WP:Notability (people).
I must also explain that Wikipedia is not a site like Myspace or Facebook for people to write about themselves and their families. You say that Mr Bloom is your stepfather and helped you write the article; WP:Autobiography is strongly discouraged, and as his relative you have, from Wikipedia's point of view, a WP:Conflict of interest and should read that guideline and WP:Best practices for editors with conflicts of interest.
I have moved the article to a sub-page in your "user space" at User:Natasha1974/Jamie Bloom where you can work on it. There is a link "Submit the page" at the top which will send it to WP:Articles for creation where an experienced user will check it and either accept it or give you feedback. Before submitting it, you need to find better independent references to establish notability. Read WP:Your first article and WP:Writing better articles for advice.
