Welcome to the talk page for this new proposed article--Navops47 (talk) 06:15, 27 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Will this new page include pre–Open Era Grand Slam tournament statistics, as well as stats from the Pro Slams? I'm just wondering as there could potentially be a lot of repetition with stats section of the current list. Probably the two distinguishing factors for this new page would be adding Pro Slams stats (though they are not "official" slams) as well as other individual player records (such as Wilander's 7 GS before becoming No. 1 or Sampras winning 8 consecutive wins in GS finals). —Bloom6132 (talk) 07:11, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The idea is that includes all records pre-open era and open era the issue around the Pro Slams is contentious amongst historians and users we don't regard anything before 1968 as professional only amateur whereas we recognise GS wins from the amateur period but exclude the Pro's which were in fact professional, some have suggested it should be in one article the problem is a question of the eventual size and do we just include top 10's or top 15's or top 20's the latter two, so open era players do at least feature, the belief was that if we stick to top 10 then they wouldn't feature in too many of the sections (Grand Slam/Pro Slam). The other article suggested was to merge the WTA and ATP records together or we have one List of Men's Tennis records and one for women and include all the atp world record info with the pre- open era and open era stuff the problem with compiling those is reliable data. The draft is there for people to work on and project members etc to see and use this page for comments. --Navops47 (talk) 08:31, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Should add and I'm sure you have been reading the previous section on the project talk page we have I think 35 lists of tennis records which is too much and they need to be reduced--Navops47 (talk) 08:35, 31 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
