Help on Moving page[edit]

Hi, while patrolling found User:Simonkissam and I was about to move the page to userspace of the user. But as soon as I did I saw that you have moved it. I saw in the edit summary that you moved the page without leaving a redirect. I would like to know that how does that work ? As at times I do move pages but then I need to tag the redirect left behind for deletion. Thanks Peppy Paneer (talk) 18:17, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Peppy, there should be a box that you check or uncheck for whether you want to leave a redirect. NawlinWiki (talk) 23:03, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm new and I don't know what I am doing. Thanks Simonkissam (talk) 18:24, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Simonkissam: Hi and Welcome to Wikipedia. It's totally fine. Just go through Wikipedia:Five pillars and play Wikipedia:The Wikipedia Adventure to know a little more. Other information is already in the Welcome message placed on your talk page. Thanks Peppy Paneer (talk) 20:30, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

CultureWaves[edit]

Hi NawlinWiki, Can you please undelete my page, so I can add some sources to make it credible? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CultureWaves KatherineJoM (talk) 19:01, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • The deleted text is now in your userspace at User:KatherineJoM/CultureWaves. You're going to need to cite reliable, independents sources (see WP:V - the company's own website and blog are not independent) to show that the company is notable per our standards, WP:CORP. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:35, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thank you, I added some outside sources to the page. KatherineJoM (talk) 20:10, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
      • Neither of those sources is *about* CultureWaves. They merely show that CultureWaves worked with The Food Channel. Also, since the sources are the Food Channel (a business partner) and prnewswire (PR release), those aren't independent either. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:56, 5 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hey. I need someone to keep in close eye on anyone who wahts to help make Activision Blizzard Studios a successful page.

Kuttlefish[edit]

First time user trying to create an article; was "speedily deleted." All sources were 3rd party. Please help.

Erothkopf (talk) 15:48, 9 November 2015 (UTC)erothkopf[reply]

  • Those sources are all blogs, which don't satisfy our criteria for sourcing - see WP:RS. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:10, 9 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Can a high quantity of blogs create notability? There are many more that I could cite. Or should they not be used at all? Also, does a Facebook following of 140k give the company notability? Erothkopf (talk) 13:31, 10 November 2015 (UTC)erothkopf[reply]
    • A large quantity of nonreliable sources isn't any better than a small quantity. For our notability standards for companies, see WP:CORP. NawlinWiki (talk) 15:26, 10 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Young Soulja[edit]

Why would you delete my page when I had all of the references for the page. It obviously is verified on other websites so why would it be deleted here?

  • First, you should not be using Wikipedia to promote yourself and your music. See WP:AUTO and WP:SPAM. Second, the page does not indicate that you are notable per our standards at WP:MUSIC. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:23, 11 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted page[edit]

Hi NawlinWiki, I'd like to contest that my recently deleted page deserved a speedy deletion for being "unambiguous advertising." References were given for articles highlighting the notability of the organization, and the success it has had in the civil society sector in Dallas by improving college readiness for public school students. WillJJameson (talk) 21:16, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • You've addressed a deletion for advertising by talking about notability, which is an entirely different idea. Even if a subject is notable, an article on it shouldn't be written in press-release language like "Today, Education Opens Doors is implementing the Roadmap to Success Program in 170 classrooms across the Dallas area." And with respect to notability, I'm not sure that an article in Park Cities People counts as a significant source. The other sources were largely the organization's own website, and one article in which EOD is only mentioned in passing. See WP:V. NawlinWiki (talk) 22:00, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Got it, thanks for the reply. I'll work on language/source material. WillJJameson (talk) 22:18, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This one is not as straightforward as you might have thought. The creating editor has a sandbox draft, too, and the Draft: namespace item had been edited by several authors, so I wonder about the ability to delete it.

I don't feel strongly either way. I simply felt you ought to be aware.

I've found it challenging to help the editor concerned. They seem to have an inability to cope with the process I set down to help them. See my talk page. Fiddle Faddle 21:39, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please restore it. Thank you.   — Jeff G. ツ (talk) 13:44, 15 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
NawlinWiki , can you also retrieve the now-deleted article-talkpage Draft_talk:Larry_Geller contents? I had inserted a section with some additional sources, circa November 12th, and some cite-counts for a few of the refs. The current contents of Draft_talk:Larry_Geller only reflect the userspace creation by Jeff, on November 14th. Thanks, 75.108.94.227 (talk) 23:02, 16 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Flying Colors - The Making of,[edit]

Hi NawlinWiki

I was wondering if you could undelete my page and sandbox it/make it userfied (or whatever you call it) please? it was as yet unfinished and much of it was placeholder information, If I could please get a copy of it back to continue editing to bring it up to Wikipedias standards, that would be awesome!

Cheers Notmyspacetomtheotherone (talk) 21:23, 14 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • I normally would have no problem with this, but the article was copied verbatim from the film's own website, and we don't allow copyrighted material on Wikipedia, even in draft pages. Better to start from scratch in your own words. NawlinWiki (talk) 15:20, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Deleted Page: One Throne Magazine[edit]

Hi Nawlin,

I'd like to make a page for a "previously deleted" page: One Throne Magazine.

In the last year, the literary magazine has had two "notable" works in the Best American Series. It published a finalist for the 2014 Caine Prize for African Writing. It published a nominee for the 2014 Shirley Jackson Award. It published both joint winners of the 2015 Brunel University African Poetry Prize. All those prizes I mentioned there, and the Best American Series, have their own Wiki pages.

In terms of visual art, it published photography by Richard Mosse, who won the Deutsche Börse Photography Prize (which has a Wiki page too), the largest photography prize in Europe.

The magazine is also the most favorited Canadian magazine on Duotrope (a database used by writers) and receives more submissions from writers than any other Canadian magazine (again, according to Duotrope). It's also one of Duotrope's "25 Most Challenging Fiction Markets" worldwide, and Duotrope tracks over 5,000 markets.

Can I get the go ahead and create the page? If not, when is a realistic time to ask you about this again? Thanks a lot.

Deleted Page: Cybera[edit]

Hello Nawlin,

Back in April, a page called "Cybera" was deleted for "unambiguous advertising." As I understand it, the original article (which was submitted by a colleague) contained "press-release language," which I don't think suits the nature of the organization and certainly does not align with Wikipedia's standards. I'm working on a heavily linked, cited, and neutral description, which I hope to submit later today. I implore you to re-consider this improved submission. Cheers!

Removed Changes Page: Mark Gordo[edit]

Hello Nawlin,

I work for Mark Gordon, and I edited his page with accurate and relevant information. Please let me know why I am being blocked from submitting this information, and how I can update his page with correct information.

Thanks! MGA12200 (talk) 19:17, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • As I said on your talk page, you were attempting to post PR/promotional content to the article, such as "a devoted philanthropist and champion of public education". Since you work for Mr. Gordon, you have a conflict of interest, and you shouldn't be writing about him. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:20, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion[edit]

Hi NawlinWiki, I noticed my page Nomads Magazine was deleted. I would like to understand why exactly the page was deleted since I made sure I use references and footnotes. Also I based the page on an existing Wiki one called Nomad (magazine). Notice the different the singular one was a poetry and literary printed magazine published back in 59'. Nomads Magazine although started printed is an online magazine focus on travel via images and storytelling. I thought that following the structure and style used on the existing Wiki page for the poetry magazine I will comply with the Wiki rules. Is there's a way you can undelete the page and move it to my sandbox so I can request help and comments from the Wiki community to improve it and make it Wiki worth it. Thanks, LunaGua (talk) 20:15, 20 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • The problem is that the article is written in promotional/advertising language, like "Nomads Magazine is focused on personal travel stories and images, by world renowned artists and journalists, who live life on the run." See WP:SPAM and WP:NPOV. As you requested, I've moved the copy to your userspace at User:LunaGua/Nomads Magazine, where you can work on making it more neutral. Sock puppetry? :)[edit]

Hi, I just recently figured out that you protected my user page with reason: "Persistent sock puppetry".

What does that really mean? What do I have to do with sock puppetry? I do occasionally edit logged out, but that's just because I forget to login :). I hope it's ok. Petrb (talk) 11:49, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Back in September, your userpage was being attacked by sockpuppet accounts of a vandal, so I semiprotected it (allowing edits only by established users). I wasn't accusing you of anything, rather, I was protecting your page from abuse. The protection has expired now. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 16:19, 21 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Western dressage[edit]

Hi, I noticed you posted on user Elatu's page commenting that western dressage appears to be a phrase they coined. Western dressage has been around for a while, and I doubt they are the one who coined it. It's a notable subject; an article on it has probably been needed for a while. As somebody with a couple months experience in WikiProject Equine, I offered to help them with it if they want me. I was just going to let you know. White Arabian Filly (Neigh) 00:10, 25 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Fine with me! Elatu's article was a cut and paste of her own blog post, with no other sources. If you can help her find some, that would be great. NawlinWiki (talk) 01:54, 25 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • Probably would have been better to tag as copyvio or to question notability. I mean, you slapped it within a half-hour of creation and this is a new sport that is rapidly becoming a big deal in western-riding land. Thanks to WAF for salvaging it, but you might get better results if you tag and then ping WT:EQUINE and ask us to determine if a new article is actually cruft, or just badly-written. There's not a lot of us, but there is usually someone around who can get to it within 24 hours or so. Montanabw(talk) 21:38, 25 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
      • We don't leave copyvios sitting around. They need to be deleted on sight. Keep in mind a deletion due to copyright issues in is no way a prohibition on the subject itself. HighInBC 21:42, 25 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Request to undelete MGTOW page[edit]

The MGTOW page on Wikipedia has been deleted several times in 2006 and 2007, primarily due to lack or WP:Notability and WP:Citations. (You are mentioned as the last editor to have deleted it.) The page is currently protected from creation, so only administrators can create it. However, a lot has changed since 2007. Today, MGTOW has been described in books (Helen Smith Ph.D., Men on Strike: Why Men Are Boycotting Marriage, Fatherhood, and the American Dream - and Why It Matters), and (using the literal word "MGTOW") in many articles in mainstream or notable newspapers and websites, including VICE Magazine, Reason magazine, the Daily Mail, the Sunday Times, the Independent, the Irish Independent, Independent Journal Review, Breitbart, the Huffington Post, Wales Online, PanAmerican Post, InfoWars, Metro, and the Southern Poverty Law Center, as can be established using a quick Google Search. A quick search for the keyword "MGTOW" on Google News yields many more results. I kindly request that you reinstate the MGTOW page, or allow others to create this page. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MaximumGrossTakeOffWeight (talkcontribs) 12:36, 25 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Looks like you are making a good start with your userspace draft. Let me know when you think it's ready for posting, and I'll take another look. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:50, 25 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Thank you for replying. Actually, my userspace draft article is far from finished; the writing is taking much longer than I thought it would take. In particular, I have not yet fully integrated all citations in the body of the article; hence most of the citations are currently simply enumerated in the lede paragraph(s) (I hope to enlist others to complete the job, after the page is created.). However, I believe those citations now sufficiently demonstrate, that MGTOW meets the criteria of WP:Notability, which are listed as: (1) Significant coverage (this is defined as "more than a trivial mention, but it need not be the main topic of the source material", and "book-length" treatment is "plainly non-trivial".); (2) Reliable sources; (3) Secondary sources; and (4) Sources independent of the subject. Note that all of the four criteria are met. Regarding "significant coverage" in particular, I would like to highlight a few examples: e.g. the Sunday Times featured an 8-page article devoted to the MGTOW phenomenon [1]. The Sunday Times is described by Wikipedia itself as the largest-selling British national "quality"/"highbrow" Sunday newspaper! The Sunday Times article has been described as (quote) "comprehensive" and "in depth" by a Breitbart journalist [2] The text of the Sunday Times article (3912 words) is behind a paywall, but you can find it in this forum thread "WE HAVE GONE MAINSTREAM!!!!!!" (visit at your own discretion). Breitbart itself has also published several comprehensive articles on MGTOW, including a two-part investigative report devoted to MGTOW [3][4] (5118 words in total). And there are many other articles entirely devoted to the topic MGTOW, such as the VICE magazine article [5]. And this does not even mention the book-length significant coverage of the marriage strike in e.g. Helen Smith, Ph.D., in her 2013 book "Men On Strike; Why Men are Avoiding Marriage, Fatherhood and the American Dream, and Why It Matters". Hence, if you examine all the citations, I believe I have sufficiently demonstrated that these merit the creation of a MGTOW page on Wikipedia. Feel free to add {{citation needed}} tags, if you deem it necessary; but please do not immediately delete parts of my contents, as others will be surely be able to add the appropriate citations in the body of the article. --MaximumGrossTakeOffWeight (talk) 14:48, 30 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

On Nov. 4 you upgraded the protection on the Natalie Cassidy (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs) article to full and changed the expiration date but the protection template still has the Nov 26 date as you can see here. When you have the time could your please change it to the Dec 4 date that you set it at. JONZO request against the deletion and wanting the recovery of the full html text[edit]

this was far from advertising a artist group, it was part of university work and a serious and non biast response i enforce my wish to have put back on, everything was done by the book and there was no warning at all thus i lost my work for education and feel insulted further from the whole experience. The artist group also wanted this to happen also.
