Petoskey sandwich[edit]

Wondering why the Petoskey sandwich post was removed. There are two reasons for the post; 1) to make a public history of an actual event that is notable to a large group, and 2) provide an avenue for young Boy Scouts of America to participate in social media technology. Please re-instate until there is time to build the content. --Chris (talk) 14:33, 24 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oscar Carboni[edit]

Why is there notability for Oscar, he called for the exact low and high of the 2008 Stock Crash, he is very famous around in the trading world. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnReid180 (talkcontribs) 15:52, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Vachette Path article[edit]

Hello. I made some changes to the Vachette article that I think (if I read the edit history right) you marked for deletion. I toned down the copy (sorry) and did find a couple other stories about it. I'd appreciate it if you checked and see if it should stay or go. If it should go, can you give any suggestions of notability (what makes something notable) for any future work? The Vachette article is here. Thanks. --Toledodocstudent (talk) 18:09, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Thanks for the note and the edits. I still don't see how the company is notable as established by WP:CORP, or as verified by reliable independent sources about the company (not merely mentioning it or relying on its work) per WP:V. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:54, 3 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

IBackup.[edit]

Hey,

Just in regards to the Ibackup article that you recently deleted. Who you mind if I re-created it as it appears to be a new release of apple's. I think this satisfies all notability guidelines but I just wanted to make sure you didn't have any concerns about recreation. Thanks!--Gordonrox24 | Talk 00:09, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, it sounds notable, but both versions that I deleted sounded like advertising/PR releases. If you repost, please make sure you write with a neutral point of view. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 00:11, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Yep. I actually might redirect it to IBackup as that appears to be the official title and is an article that has also been created and deleted repeatedly.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 00:14, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • Further comment -- the iBackup that you refer to doesn't seem to be the same one as the one I deleted. NawlinWiki (talk) 00:15, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Really? I didn't really get a chance to read it. I just did a quick google search and came up with the apple stuff.--Gordonrox24 | Talk 00:17, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

deletion of page oxygen radio[edit]

You've deleted the article Oxygen Radio - yet it was specifically written in a way that was very similar to many other similar radio station that are already on Wikipedia. How come this one was singled out for deletion? Can you provide some evidence of where there was advertising on the page. What is your definition of "significant", as I provided a few references from 2 very well respected radio sites in the UK that only include content from professional radio stations. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.15.174.230 (talk) 10:05, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello NawlinWiki, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to Michael Rutigliano has been removed. Please consider discussing your concerns with Alexthepuffin before pursuing deletion further yourself. I freaking give up.[edit]

NW, exactly what the heck is it going to take to shut down MascotGuy once and for all? Five years-plus. I've been on my current job nearly six years and I remember seeing his nonsense on my old job. I wish I had CU privileges because I would LOVE to rangeblock the little jerk. Thanks for clobbering the latest round. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:30, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Idea: Can the abuse filter be set to automatically block an account which attempts to create multiple socks? --PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:36, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Edit Filter 159 already identifies them -- it seems to be the consensus not to set it to block because of possible false positives. Anyway, you've had more experience with MascotGuy than me, but he seems more annoying than dangerous. The socks are easy to identify and pretty easy to block before they do anything, even with the filter not set to block. NawlinWiki (talk) 01:39, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, but OMG, what an annoyance he is. Could be worse and Lord knows we've seen worse. Take care and please keep up the good work you do. This nutty site would be lost without you. --PMDrive1061 (talk) 01:42, 6 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You were unfair with me[edit]

NawlinWiki, as you are well aware, people who take on the rich and powerful are frequently attacked by the rich and powerful, who have ever evil advantage, no? Right wing liars keep vandalizing my page (I didn't create it - fans and foes alike have created and modified it, with little regard for factual accuracy---and certainly YOU know that newspapers aren't exactly factually accurate sources). EX: the person who wrote that I am "chronically-unemployed" and keeps reposting it when I've had the same job for 10 YEARS should be banned, but I don't know much about computers, though people tell me Wikipedia is a disgrace. If I can't post true facts on a page about ME, but liars CAN post lies about me, then surely you agree that is extremely unethical, no? - Christopher X. Brodeur

>>>Thanks a lot for deleting the article titled 'Himalayan Dolpo Healing Project'. You guys must live in ivory towers for firstly you guys appear to think that every son of a mother is born with expert knowledge on Wiki and secondly none has time to help a person who is trying to write an article for the first time. Your help pages are great Ph.D thesises - great works of art which cannot be understood by mere mortals. It must be satisfying for you to know that your stats counters are going up with every article deleted. What you do not realize is that every article lost is less information that can be of use to the people of this world and certainly less dollars reaching groups of people who have to walk for 6 days to get to basic medical care. This must make you a very satisfied Wiki expert. What an achievement - keep up your great services to the humanity and to Wiki. Proposed deletion of Rocklouder![edit]

Hey, I see you've proposed deletion for this page. I'm wandering if you could give me some advice of what I could do in order to prevent deletion? I used Rockfeedback as a guide when creating the article, and that doesn't seem to have any direct references, etc.

It's a rock webzine I visit quite often, and it does professional reviews that are quite often posted on album projects on wiki.

Enforcing a bad policy[edit]

  • 15:17, 9 August 2009 NawlinWiki (talk | contribs | block) deleted "Trade negotiations" ‎ (G8: Page dependent on a deleted or nonexistent page) (view/restore)

This deletion is a good example of why the policy requiring it (which was established by bullying rather than by consensus, in April 2005) is a bad thing. You shouldn't waste your time on such destructive edits. Michael Hardy (talk) 17:07, 9 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It looks as if I created a AfD for an article you just deleted. Can you please fix this. Sorry... ttonyb1 (talk) 02:11, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not quite sure why this has so much protection on it, and why it doesn't link (!) to Link (Legend of Zelda). What we should do is have Link redirect to Link, then say "Link (character) redirects here, see Link..." and also drop the protections down to a reasonable level. Obama doesn't have that much protection. Purplebackpack89 (talk) 02:30, 10 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Recent deletion[edit]

Hey, I saw that you deleted a page I had tagged with G11 CSD, but it seems that the author has copies of that page saved on his user page and a subpage on his userpage. Since the content was promotional in nature, would it be acceptable to remove the same content from his userpage? User:Slampert75 and User:Slampert75/Charitybuzz Netalarmtalk 16:29, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'd wait a little bit -- the G11 deletion might cause the author to rewrite the page. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:30, 11 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just a quick note to inform you that I've temporarily protected this article and performed major surgery on it to remove a massive amount of unsourced and poorly sourced WP:BLP information after the apparent subject of the article raised substantial concerns. I'd appreciate you continued help in keeping an eye on this article. Thanks.

Thank you for moving the article. However, I think I noted that Barbary sheep should be the main article per WP:MOS and Barbary Sheep should be the redirect. If I somehow had that backwards in my original request, it was a mistake. Thank you for your time. BlindEagletalk~contribs 12:08, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The EurekaDB wiki was modeled after the Chumby page. If the Chumby page has been allowed to exist for over a year, what, specifically, do you have an issue with in the eurekaDB page. I will be willing to make a word change, but the content and style mirror other acceptable wiki pages. Thanks, eurekaDBwiz —Preceding undated comment added 14:19, 12 August 2009 (UTC).[reply]

  • First, unlike Chumby, the Eurekadb page consisted of blatant advertising, with phrases like "using a Artists EurekaDB Playlist is an incredible insightful and fun way to explore a your existing song collection". Second, the Chumby article is supported by multiple independent sources per WP:V. NawlinWiki (talk) 15:14, 12 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

admin . . . I take issue with your mischaracterization of the page I created. You claim blatant advertising where there is none. No advertising was intended in the piece for there is no attempt to persuade someone to buy something, and there isn't even any reference to any price! What you quoted using a Artists EurekaDB Playlist is an incredible insightful and fun way to explore a your existing song collection. is a simple fact. The stark difference between a boring statistical analysis and an insightful contextual analysis that EurekaDB provides is akin the difference between reams of data and a well designed chart. Many people can't see the data in front of them when it is obfuscated by meaningless chaff [see the failure to effectively communicate the loss of elasticity in the Space_Shuttle_Challenger_disaster solid rocket booster engines]. A well designed visual display is fun to use.

I choose the words in the EurekaDB page carefully and with a lot of thought. What EurekaDB represents is a novel approach to organizing and displaying music collections. The way most music collections are organized now is based upon an irrelevant statistical analysis of the spelling of an artist's or song's name, or even worse . . .by a songs' duration or bit rate. EurekaDB puts each artist into a contextual relationship with the other artists found in a user's music collection. Which is far different than the ubiquitous statistical analysis.

As far as the other issue you complain about . . . [lack of] supported by multiple independent sources the current Chumby has been updated numerous times and its external references have also increased in parallel as the page has undergone numerous updates. When I look back at the original Chumby I don't see any third party links. As far as note that there aren't many other links external links. Well, every new concept has to start somewhere. So you latter complaint seems weak to me given that EurekaDB is a novel organizational method.

Moving forward, please remove you deletion from this page and let the public members of the wiki community make the changes they want to the page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by EurekaDBwiz (talkcontribs) 02:00, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm a moderately public member of the wiki community.
When I read the combination of
In summary, using a [sic] Artists EurekaDB Playlist is an incredible insightful and fun way to explore a [sic] your existing song collection and for your friends to explore your own music collection. [...] Once you rediscover the music you already have, you are going to better enjoy your music collection!
(in the deleted article) and your claim above that
No advertising was intended in the piece for there is no attempt to persuade someone to buy something
I realize just how thoroughly you have managed to delude yourself and am reminded of the value of the advice in "WP:COI".
The article was deleted for a very good reason, and should stay deleted. -- Hoary (talk) 02:17, 13 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You deleted the Geopbyte page as "patent nonsense and WP:MADEUP". I would like to point out that a google search on the word turns up quite a few hits. The word apparently has gained a foothold, and appears to be a noteworthy neologism. If you would check my version of the page on my sandbox, it might show a better sourced and written article. Ritambhara-Biggest College Fashion Festival of India[edit]

My article was deleted on account of - it being mere an advertisement. So what do you think your article Ben Franklin School is. The intentions of the article are just to increase the "knowledge" of India's youth involved or going to be involved in fashion industry about fashion world by making them aware of fashion festivals in India. These fashion festivals are a practice stage for them to rehearse before they can make a mark of their on world fashion.Hence if if the article is educating them about the bigger and quality fashion festivals What's the problem???

Seriously, I'd done one thing, made sure it worked and then found out it was marked for deletion. So I contested it because I knew that all I had to do was finish the article, but no, what actually happened was I got a decent way through the article, had just began creating a list of references and then all of a sudden the article was deleted. Why did you not wait to see what the actual finished project was? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Oblivion3 (talkcontribs) 11:20, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • It's an article about a fictional football team. There's no indication of notability per WP:N. NawlinWiki (talk) 11:52, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies[edit]

Hey Nawlin, I just dropped by to apologize for the Speedy deletion thing last month. I went back over the article, and thought about it, and I came to the conclusion that I did do it wrong. I will fix the errors and hopefully have it back up error free. HISHEfan (talk) 11:41, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletion of PLB Sports[edit]

We do not understand why we keep being speedy deleted. The company has been in business for 10 years and develops and sells product using the name and likeness of professional athletes on a regional basis. We feel we explained this in our write up and listed a few of our brands.Internship (talk) 14:26, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

deletion of entry[edit]

Hi! I just added the entry juststuff. You have deleted it, why? What must I do that it won't be deleted? For example omegle is also here, why not justStuff? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Genshu42 (talkcontribs) 18:16, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • You would need to show, by reliable independent sources such as found in the Omegle article, that this website is notable per the standards of WP:WEB. Given the information already in your article (that JustStuff is less than 2 months old and has an Alexa ranking below 8 million), I think that's unlikely. Removal of PROD from The Drastics[edit]

Hello NawlinWiki, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to The Drastics has been removed. It was removed by ThaddeusB with the following edit summary '(contest prod - band's albums have been reviewed by Allmusic (http://allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&searchlink=THE|DRASTICS&sql=11:aifpxqrrldfe~T2) and other reliable sources - restore last version prior to vandalism removed most the content)'. Please consider discussing your concerns with ThaddeusB before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. Thank you, SDPatrolBot (talk) 23:04, 21 August 2009 (UTC) (Learn how to opt out of these messages)[reply]

Flyff page[edit]

Hello I was asked by the developers of the game Flyff to create a wiki page here for them. This page had been started by others and renamed to fly for fun. All forms of the page were deleted. I made a new one in my user space and I would like your opinion. Is it complete enough to move to the Flyff page? I will be sending the link to the producers for their approval of content. Please your input would be largely appreciated. Thank you for your time. (Jasenm222 (talk) 00:46, 22 August 2009 (UTC))[reply]

  • I still don't see that you've cited reliable independent sources showing this game's notability. It appears that you have a bunch of press releases, and blogs which merely reprint press releases. Where's the independent coverage of this game?

I'm kind of at a loss here. I'm not sure what you mean. The information comes from my knowledge and from the gpotato wiki where I work as an Editor. What is wrong with press releases? They state the truth. Would a game critic count as a reliable independent source? The only one I can find that is recent enough to actually talk of the game as it is today is gameogre http://www.gameogre.com/reviewdirectory/reviews/FLYFF.php thanks for your input have a nice day (Jasenm222 (talk) 13:29, 22 August 2009 (UTC))[reply]

  • The problem with press releases is that they're not independent. See WP:V. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:01, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi NW! I saw you deleted the above G8, and it was re-created shortly after (along with Potapenko, Valeriy. I can't see the deleted version, but the current versions are soft redir's to the RU Wiki. The CSD and redirect guidelines in general are rather vague on the usefulness of this kind of redirect, but I can't see anywhere they are either explicitly allowed or not. So I'm deferring back to you as you handled the first one. (I.e: you win by default!). I am curious as to the policy on x-wiki soft redirects though. Thanks! • I don't think they're helpful -- either the subject is notable enough for an article, or isn't, whatever the subject's nationality. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:50, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi NW. I tried to add a description of Regent Park Focus Youth Media Arts Centre as it is mentioned in the article about Regent Park but it was deleted. Regent Park Focus Youth Media Arts Centre is an important organization in the community. Can you readd it. Thanks focusflava —Preceding unsigned comment added by Focusflava (talkcontribs) 23:30, 22 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • You need to show that the organization has been recognized as notable (see WP:ORG) by reliable independent sources (see WP:V). NawlinWiki (talk) 16:21, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello again, NawlinWiki … it looks like the SPA Deadalus821 (talk · contribs) just won't give up, and has recreated a WP:VSCA page about Jim Diamond under a different title (you recently speedy deleted Jim Diamond (Mega Genius)), but this time it's just a copy&paste of the subject's website. <Sigh!>

I've also been tracking edits by 68.62.182.35 (talk · contribs) and reverting their unsourced WP:VSCA links to the subject in IQ related articles. Happy Editing! — 138.88.43.201 (talk · contribs) 16:04, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I Love You, I'm Sorry, and I'll Never Do It Again[edit]

You shouldn't have deleted I Love You, I'm Sorry, and I'll Never Do It Again as a speedy delete because the article didn't meet any of it. There was no reason to remove the prod and speedy it. Joe Chill (talk) 16:37, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Deleted per WP:SNOW, unless you think there's any way we would keep an article on a 14 minute film with no notable actors. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:39, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
    • WP:SNOW without a debate? I don't think so. There is always a possibility of that (as other articles on here show). Joe Chill (talk) 16:40, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
      • Whatever, it's not worth having the argument. I'll undelete. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:41, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
        • It wasn't worth going against policies. Joe Chill (talk) 16:42, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Adamsoft[edit]

I try to add some article about our company. After it was first deleted I added few links. And it was deleted again. Would it be better if I add some links on Wiki pages where Adamsoft is mentioned (I found one) and to add some link where other companies mention adamsoft (like Nokia for example)?

  • It's not enough that your company is mentioned on other websites. You need to find reliable independent sources (see WP:V) that explain why the company is notable per WP:CORP. Also, you really shouldn't be writing about your own company, see WP:COI. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:38, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ok I understand that I have COI and I will stop with this article. But can you explain what is enough reliable source to describe a company? Is following link enough? Or is it enough that Adamsoft for example is mentioned on another wiki page ( Near Field Communication - look under Current Trials - Slovenia)? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Adamflis (talkcontribs) 20:59, 23 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

articleid[edit]

I just have a question: How do you obtain a page's article_articleid for the abuse filter? -- King of ♠ 20:32, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

  • Go to the "Examine past edits" tab, enter the name of a user that edited the page in the "Changes by user" box, then when you get the list of edits, find one to the page in question and click the "Examine" tab. The articleid number will be one of the entries. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:57, 25 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Page Deleted[edit]

Hi, you deleted my page Last November because you said it was copyrighted. And I need to know what needs to be done to get this listing into compliance? I did not copyright anything on the page Last November. I wrote the bio myself, Fanbolt used the original materials from me. So what do I need to do to prove that it is not copyright?

There are profiles for members on the page of "Universal Powerline Association" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Powerline_Association), And I need to know what needs to be done to get this listing into compliance just like other UPA members? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fsfishnchips (talkcontribs) 19:26, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. I was just viewing this page and thought I could help. Your page needs to comply with WP:COMPANY. Mostly, you need to talk about verifiable information about the company from a nuetral point of view. That means to avoid words like "Number one" or "Best" or "Only ____ in ____". It needs to remain nuetral and factual. Also, you should avoid discussing it's products. Best things to focus on are where it trades stocks, history, and sub corporations. Check out the Home Depot and Microsoft articles for great examples. Also remember, just because you see another article out there in worse shape than yours does not give credit to your article. By pointing it out, you're only alerting editors to other articles that may need deletion or cleaning up.--TParis00ap (talk) 19:31, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

STEVIE "KEYS" ROSEMAN[edit]

Hello Nawlin Wiki, if you could assist in helping expand this page for "Stevie Keys Roseman" that would be terrific. I think it should probably include the following information within the article and appropriate drop down menus. I am not familiar enough with Wiki to be able to accomplish this for him and any help would be appreciated. Thanks very much anyone.

Brighouse[edit]

Hi! I've just noted that you have protected the Brighouse article, which is on my watchlist, seemingly for Page Move Vandalism. I am unable to locate any vandalism of this type to the article, in the article history. Could you advise when it took place and who by, and if there was none your reasoning for the Protection. Richard Harvey (talk) 17:07, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like an attempt to move the page was rejected by abuse filter 68, which disallowed the move based on a throttle for new users.  Frank  |  talk  17:37, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
In addition, it seems the user was none too happy at being caught, and had some nasty words to say about it, and has since been blocked.  Frank  |  talk  17:40, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Excellent! Thanks for the info. The less of those editors the better! Richard Harvey (talk) 19:06, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agency59[edit]

Hi, it looks like you deleted the description for the page Agency59 I was trying to create. I'm still new to editing wikipedia and have read G11, but this page's intention is not to to blatantly advertise but to provide a description about the Agency. Could you give me feedback as to how I could change the article so it is not instantly deleted?
