The Admin's Barnstar
For all your hard work, contributions and administration of the Wikipedia project. Cheers. --Hu12 (talk) 01:36, 7 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hello, NawlinWiki. You have new messages at Ian.thomson's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

This is not a newsletter

This is just a tribute.

Anyway. You're getting this note because you've participated in discussion and/or asked for updates to either the Article Feedback Tool or Page Curation. This isn't about either of those things, I'm afraid ;p. We've recently started working on yet another project: Echo, a notifications system to augment the watchlist. There's not much information at the moment, because we're still working out the scope and the concepts, but if you're interested in further updates you can sign up here.

In addition, we'll be holding an office hours session at 21:00 UTC on Wednesday, 14 November in #wikimedia-office - hope to see you all there :). I appreciate it's an annoying time for non-Europeans: if you're interested in chatting about the project but can't make it, give me a shout and I can set up another session if there's enough interest in one particular timezone or a skype call if there isn't. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 11:11, 10 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

CSD

Please delete Adonis Engel - it has been CSDed for over 30 minutes and I'm beginning to doubt myself - two people have contested the deletion. Please delete it to show that I'm not going mad. JZCL 17:02, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Frenchy and the Punk

I would like to ask you to undelete this article so that either it can be improved or at least have its deletion discussed, as this step was apparently skipped in the deletion process. There are a number of credible sources reviewing the group, so the A7 deletion criteria for speedy deletion were not met. Blackfyr (talk) 21:09, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"02:12, 15 February 2012 NawlinWiki (talk | contribs) deleted page Frenchy and the Punk (A7: No explanation of the subject's significance (real person, animal, organization, or web content)) "
I hereby dispute that this article falls within the criteria you listed when you deleted this page. The article linked in the deletion note says "The criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source or does not qualify on Wikipedia's notability guidelines. The criterion does apply if the claim of significance or importance given is not credible. If the claim's credibility is unclear, you can improve the article yourself, propose deletion, or list the article at articles for deletion." I can find no indication that this went through any deletion proposal review, nor can I find it listed in any page for deletion listing during the two weeks prior to you deletion. RevDel request

Please consider RevDeling this edit[1]. Google Translate will confirm that it has no place on Wikipedia. Thanks. RolandR (talk) 13:18, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Well, "no place on Wikipedia" applies to a lot of reverted edits. This just looks like typical kid stuff, and doesn't seem to include any personal attacks. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 18:38, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Please think again. This has the full name, place of residence, date of birth, and personal comments about a child. It really should be hidden. RolandR (talk) 19:01, 18 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Oviachelven R

Rainmakersindia (talk) 04:54, 21 November 2012 (UTC) Oviachelven R You deleted this page on the grounds that its is advertising and copy right infringement. Its a page which describes about Oviachelven R(The famous Marketing Guru, MD and Creative Director of Rainmakers and Chairman of O.M.A School). I work under him and I've his permission on creating a page on him, so its not a copyright infringement. So if you feel its like an ad please help by deleting the non appropriate content and publishing the article again.[reply]

Fikke

There is an article about an Ethiopian town called Fiche which mentions that it also known as Fikke. At least one other article in Wikipedia (Second Italo-Ethiopian War) refers to Fikke. (I've checked - it's the same place.) I thought it might be useful to have a REDIRECT page to send Fikke to Fiche, but when trying to create it saw that a previous page with this title was deleted by you on 26 February 2011 "(Expired PROD, concern was: Wikipedia is not for things made up one day)". Any chance of creating the redirect? Emeraude (talk) 11:17, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

About your deletation

On 1 February 2012 18.30(UTC) you deleted a page named Maasranga Television. Was that a television channel in Bangladesh? And if why you deleted that? Will you mind if I start that article again? --pratyya (talk) 10:46, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, the article was about a TV channel in Bangladesh. It was deleted as blatant advertising, see WP:SPAM. If you can write the article in a neutral tone, feel free to repost. NawlinWiki (talk) 15:40, 29 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy Deletion of Treehouse (band)

Please take a moment to look over the page and the references to see that they are on a legitimate label, Schematic and have released several singles and an EP across several mediums. They recently spent a month on tour in California as well as playing a Showcase at the CMJ Music Conference.

I looked at your Guidelines for what constitutes a "band." If you really look at the page ive created, you'll see that they are far from the bands you describe below....

"You only exist on Facebook, MySpace, YouTube, Twitter, iTunes and Soundcloud. Yeah, we just mentioned it at the top of this section, but it's worth repeating again. Since anyone can create content on any of these sites, adding lots and lots and lots of references to them will not pull the wool over anyone's eyes. If you're not mentioned in reliable sources like national newspapers or magazines with wide circulation, you shouldn't have a Wikipedia article. You've never put out a "real" album: Putting out a real album means having the album released by a record company, or at least put into wide distribution by an independent label. Burning CDs of your songs on your computer and trying to sell them, or releasing your music onto a podcast, via iTunes or on your MySpace page doesn't count. Your band is not signed: Likewise, if your band is not signed by a record company or independent label, or, as mentioned above, the article mentions a fake recording company or independent label, then no one cares. Your band is looking for people: A sizeable percentage of the Wikipedia pages about garage bands announce that they are "still looking for a drummer", or something similar. If your band is still looking for a member, then no one cares about it, unless this search has been the subject of an article in Rolling Stone. You've never gone on a "real" tour: Like real albums, going on a real tour does not mean playing at your high school dance, city park, etc. You must be invited to play at a musical venue of real significance to count. You are not making any money: Whether it's because you're just jamming with your friends instead of actually being a band or simply because no one will pay money to hear your music, if your band is not making any money, we do not want to hear about it on Wikipedia. You just formed the band yesterday: Stop, sit back, wait a while, and see if you are actually going to make a band, because chances are, you're not. Wikipedia is for bands that are, not bands that are going to be (and it certainly isn't for bands that are, in all probability, never going to be). Your only distinguishing characteristic is your placement in a Battle of the Bands competition: Battle of the Bands competitions are small farces designed to showcase local talent, not land you a record deal. Even if you placed first, it doesn't mean anything: your band is still unknown, and there are thousands of better ones out there. The cops come regularly during your practice sessions and ask you to shut up. While this may make it seem that people care about your garage band, and indeed they do, they are not caring in the right way." — Preceding unsigned comment added by Dennisonvideo (talkcontribs) 17:43, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Nothing in the article, or above, indicates that this band meets the notability requirements at WP:BAND. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:36, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

About your deletion of an article called Tough Entertainment (uk)

I would like to ask you to undelete this article so that either it can be improved or at least have its deletion discussed. Tough Entertainment is a record label which already has three artists on its roaster. I made the article because i started the company and with one of our artists doing well i have had people and even businesses trying to find out about the company. We have released Singles from one of our artists Damidamon through our distributors his music can be found on all online outlets including itunes, amazon, spotify and others which all clearly bear Tough Entertainment as the releasing label. There are a number of credible sources reviewing the company so i do not need to advertise on wikipedia. Please undelete this article.92.20.26.93 (talk) 05:44, 1 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

  • Your comment doesn't indicate that this label, or its artists, meet our notability guidelines as set out at WP:MUSIC. Also, you shouldn't be writing about your own company, see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:35, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
  • Ok well noted maybe i shouldn't have written the article we are still a growing business and maybe i should wait a little longer, the thing is we have been generating a lot of interests with other businesses trying to find out about our achievements and i thought wiki would be the perfect place for that info. Can i get a transcript of the article so i could use it else where. Thanks for your time2.96.47.196 (talk) 06:14, 3 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
