A few published articles does not make the person notable. Surprised you declined CSD based on Wikipedia:Notability_(academics). I assume the next step would be an AfD? EvergreenFir (talk) 20:10, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • It may or may not make him notable, but yes, it avoids *speedy* deletion. An AFD is indeed the next step. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:41, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Okay thanks! EvergreenFir (talk) 20:43, 2 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Nadia lebrun requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Vidya Niket

You've just deleted our page and the reason given was it was advertising. It was not advertising but just general information. Before creating the page we checked numerous pages of similar type. You can refer to few pages given - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Little_Angels_High_School, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Delhi_Public_School,_Gwalior. If our page can not be published then can you please explain what is the reason for these pages to continue. Anurag gupta17 (talk) 15:44, 3 June 2014 (UTC)Vidya Niket Anurag gupta17 (talk) 15:44, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Unlike those articles, your article had promotional language like "The mission and implementation of our goals are guided by some of the most outstanding and accomplished individuals in India and abroad" and "the school campus abounds in natural splendour". You were writing the page as if it were a mirror of the school's own website, rather than a neutral encyclopedia article. See WP:NPOV and WP:SPAM. NawlinWiki (talk) 15:46, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  • Before writing to you we made these two changes in the text but before publishing you had already deleted the page.

If we make these modifications then will it pass through your standard criterion ? If yes could you please help us to retrieve the text so that we can make necessary changes. Anurag gupta17 (talk) 15:53, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

    • I've moved the deleted text to your userspace at User:Anurag gupta17/Vidya niket. Let me know when you've edited it and I'll take a look at it. Please make sure that all promotional language is removed. NawlinWiki (talk) 15:55, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • Also note that you need to find reliable independent sources, see WP:V, to show that the school is notable per WP:ORG. The school's own website is not independent. NawlinWiki (talk) 15:58, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Deletion of Minus33 Clothing

I am writing to inquire why you deleted the page I wrote about Minus33 Merino Wool Clothing. The reason you supplied was advertising, but it was not. It was modeled very similarly to LL Bean, Icebreaker, and SmartWool. Many of those companies have pages outlining their history, product line, and competition, as we did. If it is OK for those companies to have pages, it should be allowable that a 90+ year old company have one as well. Please advise. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Csexton25 (talkcontribs) 21:19, 3 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fast Deletion Page

Hello,

A while ago a page of mine was deleted because it was not clear what the encyclopedic relevance was. I would like to ask what i could do to prevent this in the future.

Company Wikipedia page deleted

Hello,

I noticed that a few days ago, my company's Wikipedia article was deleted because the user who created the page was either blocked or banned.

Here is the original link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EDSI_(company)

What steps can I do to recover the content from the article?

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shanafan (talkcontribs) 16:01, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • That user was blocked as a sockpuppet of a paid editing firm. I've restored the text of the article to your userspace at User:Shanafan/EDSI (company). As you might expect from a paid editor, the text is inappropriately promotional. See WP:SPAM and WP:NPOV. We discourage people from writing about their own companies, see WP:COI. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:14, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thank you very much for restoring the content. I will view the supplied informative links. Thanks again. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shanafan (talkcontribs) 17:11, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

the Lotus and the Storm

I think you deleted the page just created because the note says it looks like the page was used for advertising rather than a encyclopedia type of document. This is a book and the page was simply describing the book. here's the link to another book that appears in Wikipedia. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_History_of_Love This wasn't deleted, so I assume it conforms to whatever your policy is.

I'm not sure why what was created was deemed "advertising." Could you explain and help? Is it the format? Is it because the content didn't have "boxes" ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Connghe (talkcontribs) 18:46, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Because, unlike The History of Love, the Lotus page is promotional, with language like "The Lotus and the Storm moves forward with a plot that is filled with action but is also deeply reflective about how one makes one’s way through the discordance of life in search of home and peace.", as well as a set of blurbs from other authors. Please see WP:SPAM and WP:NPOV. NawlinWiki (talk) 18:49, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Minus33 Again

Why did you delete the Minus33 page re-write? There was no advertising in it at all. The page was completely factual and had the history of a textile mill from 1916. This company is a great historical example of the textile manufacturing business in America. Can you please give some insight as to why it was deleted again?Csexton25 (talk) 19:36, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • "some of the most distinguished manufacturers and retailers". Also, there are other problems: (1) the description is almost all about the Packard company rather than Minus33; (2) the article cites no reliable, independent sources (see WP:V) to show that Minus33 (as opposed to Packard) is notable per WP:CORP. NawlinWiki (talk) 20:11, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fast Deletion

Hello, You recently deleted the Cerego page in wiki. Not sure the reasoning behind this. This company has been around since 2000, has raised $30million+ and have strategic partnerships with the Gates Foundation, etc. All this has been referenced. Could you please explain why you deleted and how to fix the article so it works? This company recently moved from Japan to the USA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smart.fm Thanks Williefoxtrot (talk) 20:43, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article was promotional. "Cerego’s patented technology enables users to learn information quickly and track their progress within a personalized “Memory Bank”, a visualization of learning progress that maps activation and memory strength across all courses and individual items studied. The Memory Bank makes learning and re-learning more efficient and effective by surfacing a granular, real-time understanding of the learning and forgetting progress for each unique learner." This reads like advertising copy. See WP:SPAM and WP:NPOV. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:11, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Would it be better to use spaced rehearsal instead of the description of the memory bank? This is pulled from press/references written about Cerego. So don't reference the references? Williefoxtrot (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 21:16, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • What you need are *independent* references (i.e., not press releases) that discuss Cerego and show that it is notable per WP:CORP. If there aren't any independent sources, then there shouldn't be an article on this company just yet. See WP:RS. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:20, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Could you define "independent source" These references are not press releases, they are written by journalists. Thanks. Williefoxtrot (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 21:25, 4 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

George Kerr Mackie

You deleted an article about George Kerr Mackie who is a historical figure with references, who house is on the protected historical sites of Kansas and who had references. We had an intro to wikipedia course today and you deleted the work of a 12 year old girl who is learning to use wikipedia. Please restore the article.

Here is the source : http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/archives/1912/m3/mackie_george_k.html from Kansas: a cyclopedia of state history, embracing events, institutions, industries, counties, cities, towns, prominent persons, etc.

Here is the letter about the significance of including his in the national registry of historical places: http://www.kshs.org/resource/national_register/nominationsNRDB/Douglas_MackieGeorgeKHouseNR.pdf Criterion A : "for the reflection of the commercial success of the entrepreneur George Mackie".

thanks mike James Michael DuPont (talk) 23:46, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Mr. Mackie's house is notable for being on the National Register of Historic Places, but I don't see how Mr. Mackie himself is notable per our guidelines at WP:BIO. Please read those and let me know how you think he qualifies. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 12:08, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]
As I said, his house qualifies because of his success at least according to the National Register of Historic Places. I already said that, (A. That are associated with events that have made a significant contribution to the broad patterns of our history;) So his commercial success was what made him notable. And please, for the sake of a first time editor, if you are going to keep it deleted, can you at least restore the article in HaseBears userspace and explain to the 12 year old girl what when wrong. I am doing a course on Wikipedia over the summer with these kids and I dont want to have to have them type it in again. We can put his son under his fathers page which is already notable. Here are some more citations for him : The Bulletin. Concatenated Order of Hoo-Hoo. 1905. pp. 2–. Nelson Sutro Greensfelder; Harry Roberts (Jr.) (1952). The Explosives Engineer. Company Article deletion, A7

Hello, I was trying to create a previously deleted by you page about a Company named "Stand Up Guys Junk Removal" Can you give me some advice on how to rewrite the article so it can be accepted? Maybe you can drill down that A7 reason so I can focus on what to remove/add. Thanks for your time, --Changocz (talk) 19:42, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • You would need to show that the company is notable per our guidelines at WP:CORP, and you would need to cite reliable independent sources (see WP:V) that demonstrate its notability. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:18, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey there, this article was my first one so the writing isn't all that good. I hadn't read some of the other Wiki guidelines but I do see that the company isn't notable enough for an article at least at this point. It was kinda hard to make it neutral since pretty much everything I found was promotional and I don't know a whole lot about the company either, but thanks for your time.

And no, I was not paid to write that article. Jdb213 (talk) 22:04, 6 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your contribution for updating the biographies. Just a gentle reminder that editors must take particular care when adding information about living person: See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:BLP

Regarding the lawsuit of Tengku 1) A person accused of a crime is presumed innocent until proven guilty and convicted by a court of law. For people who are relatively unknown, editors must give serious consideration to not including material in any article suggesting that the person has committed. 2) Question: No conviction record was found from the reference link and he has pleaded not guilty, and he should be presumed innocent. We should not include the article suggesting he is committed, isn’it? This has violate the NPOV as well.

Regarding Red Island Coffee franchise business 1) His name is not appeared on the Guangming daily. (Please read thoroughly, I cannot find his name) 2) This is the Biography of Ong Kean Suan not Ong Tong Suan. Furthermore, SSM website listed Conviction for Ong Tong Suan only. 3) Question: I cannot find his name from a reliable source of reference. We should not include the article suggesting he is committed, isn’it? This has violate the NPOV as well. Garydog (talk) 22:55, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Yup, I agree with Bearian, Garydog has gutted the article, removing the civil judgment against Ong in the Melilea case, the charges against surewin4u by the Central Bank, Ong involvement in Red Island Coffee with the conviction of his brother Philip, and Ong's arrest for impersonation. I do not have access to paper newspaper archives, so many secondary sources are unavailable. I also wonder what happened with MLB Resources, their insurance business. I could not find anything after the 2009 news release. Anyway, what is the proper recourse? --Bejnar (talk) 16:45, 14 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

ESafely was deleted

Hi- You recently "speedily deleted" an article which I wrote about a software product that offers parental controls for computers. The article was called ESafely. I understand that you felt the article was too promotional, but I tried to follow precisely other wiki articles about similar subjects which have not been deleted, so I assume those are not overly promotional. I would like to try to get my article up again, so can you give me more specific guidelines on what I need to do to write a "wiki-worthy" article that will not be deleted? Thanks so much.Secretsources (talk) 08:34, 16 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fantastic Cleaners Notability

Hally NawlinWiki, I have a basic question - why was the article for Fantastic Cleaners deleted under A7? The text was not promotional, it was for a notable company in London. The article was marked as "under heavy construction" with the intent to be edited, expanded and moderated under the guidelines of wikipedia. Information about the intents was also included in the Talk page, written by me. It was included in the Portal:London and Portal:Companies as a sign for the article's intentions - to be informative and provide insight for the company it is written for. By deleting it under A7, you suggest it was not notable enough despite its presented references? Here are some of the achievements and proofs of concept I have found so far: The Scoot Headline Golden Award for 2014 (NATIONAL GOLD WINNERS Fantastic Cleaners, London – LARGE BUSINESS) - http://www.headlineawards.co.uk/winners-2014/ CLENSA approval and endorsement - http://clensa-approved.com/consumers/listing/fantastic-cleaners-2/ (please look up what CLENSA is) The company featured and working with "The Kindness Offensive" - http://thekindnessoffensive.com/component/content/article/42-supporters-landing-page/238-fantastic-cleaners (Look that up too) About the work with "The Kindness Offensive", featured in PR News Wire - http://www.prnewswire.co.uk/news-releases/fantastic-cleaners-fight-library-closures-with-random-acts-of-kindness-231533611.html Presenter at "Ideal Home Show" - http://www.idealhomeshow.co.uk/exhibiting/exhibitor-search/exhibitor/32637-fantastic-services (please take your time to check and familiarise yourself with the partners and sponsors of this event and the role of Fantastic Cleaners there) Let's not forget other media coverage: Featured in TNT Magazine UK - https://www.tntmagazine.com/london/lifestyle/moving-out-in-a-hurry-you-can-now-shift-your-stuff-via-video-link (You may find their work interesting in the field of journalism) Or maybe you are familiar with "Virgin" magazine? Fantastic Cleaners is featured there as an example for innovative company with notable achievements in its field - http://www.virgin.com/disruptors/the-zappos-affect-why-innovation-needs-to-be-underpinned-with-core-values If you think these are not "personal" enough, check the featured article for the company in UK's leading property selling company - http://blog.zoopla.co.uk/2014/05/21/cleaning-service-tips-for-landlords/ Or the personal preference of clients in Bristol(since you chose to ignore any and all reviews reviews) - http://slummysinglemummy.com/2014/05/23/review-a-spring-clean-with-fantastic-services/ Also, could you please tell me how are companies like: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Superior_Rug_Cleaning https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mr._Rooter https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxi_Fresh_Carpet_Cleaning Have more notable articles (when it comes to A7) than the company I decided to edit for? Have they achieved more? Blacklist for preposterousuniverse.com

Hi. You seem to be listed as the admin who added this entry to the spam blacklist:

\bpreposterousuniverse\.com\b # NawlinWiki # multiple spambots

I haven't been able to find any discussion of the reason for that blacklisting, so I thought I'd ask you what led to it. The author of the blog in question, Sean M. Carroll, is a rather well-known cosmologist at Caltech, a Fellow of the American Physical Society, and a colleague of mine. I can't imagine why anyone would be spamming links to his blog on Wikipedia, but blocking links to his site from his own entry here seems like an undesirable response. I'm not especially familiar with the process for this sort of thing, so any advice would be appreciated. --Steuard (talk) 01:19, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm sure it was being spammed, or I wouldn't have added it - but given that it is a legitimate site, I'll take it off the blacklist and we'll see what happens. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 01:48, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks! If there's some ongoing abuse involving those URLs in the future, I'll try to look up the formal procedure for making a long-term fix. --Steuard (talk) 02:20, 3 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Proton Energy Pills

I was about to create Proton Energy Pills as a redirect to the above article when I noticed that it had been deleted with a notice:

The content in the new article appears to relate to the same band. I am currently arguing at an AfD that a related article, Leadfinger, be kept. Hi Nawlin - I think an admin is needed here but didn't want to go to a dramahboard straightaway - partly because this editor would qualify for notices at more than one and anyway, me no admin. A tag has been placed on CEO Connection, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". The company created one of the world's first demand-side video advertising platforms, and has launched several well documented global initiatives to improve the digital advertising sphere. Additionally there are 42 second and third-party sources from publications ranging from Huffington Post to Mashable.com. Several of our competitors articles are far more advertorial than ours. Twice since the protection has been removed from the article Ong Kean Swan, User:Susanteng has gutted the article, placing promotional language in place of the existing NPOV text that was supported by independent sources. Article Gen Re, edits on financial security and historical information revoked

I appreciate your recent attention to the Gen Re article and your concern for the issues you raised on User_talk:General_Re (and which, as you suggested, I have now commented on Talk:Gen_Re), and would like to give some additional background for you as a member of Category:Wikipedia_administrators_willing_to_handle_RevisionDelete_requests .

While on first sight my recent changes might be viewed as WP:COI and "advertising" language, I respectfully disagree here. In fact, I am quite aware and conscious of COI as a WP issue and have studied the applicable guidelines across the WP language versions relevant here (mainly English, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese; which by the way do vary among each other to some degree).

No doubt, Reinsurance (the line of business of Gen Re as a company) has immense economic impact; so it should be in the interest of WP to provide reliable encyclopedic information insofar, including information on the largest global companies in this field. However, the subject tends to escape the focus of interest of active Wikipedians who are usually unaffiliated with the (re)insurance industry: Experience shows that over time they made few update edits to the Gen Re page, quite in contrast to other, more popular lines of business. As a consequence, several years ago it was felt that in the interest of correct and timely encyclopedic representation a certain amount of such information should be inserted by an affiliated user, observing a neutral and open manner.

Being aware of the WP:COI issue, a colleague first corresponded in person and in writing with several seasoned Wikipedians (of the English and German WP) what approach to take. Only then a dedicated user was created under the name "General Re" (with obvious reference to the corporate name) for the purpose. NB, this is not a shared account but used by a single person, myself.

If you inspect the edits made by user General Re over the last three years, you will notice they are all focused on economic or historic facts, and substantiated by links to independent parties or within WP itself where possible, and only to the Gen Re corporate website where no independent quotes were available. With all due respect, neither are the external links added recently "advertising or inappropriate external links"; I have offered arguments on Talk:Gen_Re.

Hopefully the above will have convinced you of my main point, i.e. WP:COI and biased "marketing" language or links have been avoided. So I would ask you to reinstate my edits dated July 29, 2014 -- thanks. General Re (talk) 17:23, 31 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]
