  • We discourage people from writing about themselves on Wikipedia, see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, especially when it appears they are trying to promote themselves or increase their Web popularity, see WP:SPAM. In any case, we require biographical articles to cite independent sources, see WP:V, to show that their subject meets our notability standards, WP:BIO. Mutual Shaping[edit]

Hi Nawlin,

I accidentally posted an outline of my page and it was deleted. I have since completed the page but am unable to publish it due to the previous deletion. You can view the complete version here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Steeveshannah

I understand why my first version was deleted. However, I would appreciate being able to publish my updated version ASAP as it is an assignment for school! Thanks for your time. --Steeveshannah (talk) 19:32, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • I've looked at your draft, and it still appears to be original research/synthesis in that you've coined a new term, "mutual shaping", and are explaining it by reference to other existing concepts. But Wikipedia is not the place to post original scholarship, see WP:NOR. You would need to cite reliable independent sources that *already* use the term "mutual shaping", and you would need to have enough sources to show that the term is notable, see WP:N. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 19:56, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson[edit]

I noticed you deleted Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson (created by User:Eythorg-1960) as G10, but it reappeared as Einar Blazit Sighvatsson (created by User:WhoDaMan2014). Is the old page similar enough to the new one that it's clearly sockpuppetry? Jackmcbarn (talk) 21:50, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I received a speedily deletion notice, edited it, and got deleted before I could save[edit]

Hi,

After I received the notice I started editing the article, saved it and the deleted notice appeared, I'm not sure if there is any record of the re-edited version. Regardless, from what I understood the reasoning for the deletion was because I failed to show the importance of the subject. The first person in Japan that pioneered for face yoga is not important?. If you merely type in "Fumiko T" in Google the first suggested query is "Fumiko Tatasku wiki", the first pages in Google are dedicated to Takatsu as a face yoga expert. Can you please tell me what I need to do to get my article approved?

Thank you

  • Google hits are not the kind of sourcing we require for biographical articles, because they often are based on the subject's own pages or press releases. We require reliable, independent sources (see WP:V) that report on a subject and show that she is notable per our guidelines, see WP:BIO. Also, articles should not be written in promotional fashion, see WP:SPAM and WP:NPOV. NawlinWiki (talk) 22:40, 3 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Page semi-protected[edit]

Dear NawlinWiki, Please could you help me? I don't understand why the page I wrote has been merged Riccardo Silva? I wrote the page adding many sources in comparison with my first time and I thought that it was OK. The page has been on line for 3 months without any message. why the page has been semi-protected? How can I do to improve the page? Dishv80 (talk) 14:55, 4 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Einar Björvin Sighvatsson[edit]

Hello there, First of all, i respect your work User:NawlinWiki and truly understand that you have concerns about my page Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson . I am a beginner here on wiki and the page about Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson is the first page that i have ever made in wikipedia. I see that you have deleted Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson as G10 but this page is not an Attack page. Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson is a teenager in Iceland that got into the spotlight only 3 days ago (11,4,2014) and therefor is a new topic here on wiki. I have shown Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson a big interest and wanted to write a wiki page about him.

I also see that you have marked Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson as a Sockpuppetry because it reappeared as Einar Blazit Sighvatsson (created by User:WhoDaMan2014 ) after you deleted mine. i personally do not know User:WhoDaMan2014 and have no idea who he is but it looks like he is writing about the same Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson. His site does not look professional and does not write about Einar Björgvin Sighvatsson as he is suppose to do.

I hope that you will show me understanding and restore my page but if you have any questions then i will gladly answer them.

BuildBar[edit]

Hi Nawlin, I received a A7 deletion for my entry on "BuildBar" and I was just wondering if I could get a copy of the text. I thought I had a saved version on my computer but can't seem to locate it and I'd rather not repeat the same mistakes if I decide to submit a future entry. Thanks. Page has been deleted[edit]

Hello NawlinWiki,

I had created wiki page name as "Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd." But page has been deleted due to content issue. Currently i am creating new page with same Name as "Indiabulls Housing Finance Ltd."

ASCII art filter[edit]

Hi NW, a legitimate false positive report was made for this filter, see Special:AbuseLog/11089817. I can try to take a look but based on the filter history I'm guessing you're probably the most familiar with how it works. Best — MusikAnimal talk 22:04, 7 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Removed some entries that I think are causing the problem. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 01:32, 9 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding the Last Message[edit]

Excuse me, I got your message but I assure you this is not false and this actually true. You did delete the page "https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Nathan_Fletcher!!&action=edit&redlink=1" so, I cannot prove that actually happened. However, if you check the website's logs you will likely find this incident. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Khalawarrior (talkcontribs) 04:13, 11 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You've got Mael[edit]

Hey Nawlin, I noticed that you just blocked another sock of Maelbros, MaelBros The Silly One. Thanks for that. Materialscientist blocked another one, MAELBROS LEFUR 2 the other day. Is there any value in creating an SPI report if they've all been blocked? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:33, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, because there could be sleeper accounts with different names. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:04, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You deleted a page[edit]

Hi Nawlin, I just tried to put up a page for EVA International. We are a not for profit International Biennial that runs in Limerick, Ireland and I was wanting to put up the history including the artists and curators that participated. I was wondering if I added more References would I be able to add the page then? Thanks

  • The article should not be cut and pasted from the organization's own website or materials. Instead, it should cite independent sources (see WP:V) to show that the event is notable, see WP:EVENT. NawlinWiki (talk) 17:25, 13 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your advice Nawlin. The organisation was founded in 1977 and has held notable exhibitions nearly every year since then. I used the general background information for the Wikipedia intro but nothing else is duplicated. Any further advice would be much appreciated.

Removing a deleted page completely[edit]

Dear NawlinWiki,

I recently tried to create a page, but you deleted it unfortunately on 22:36, 12 November 2014 . When the title is searched, there's a red notice that says, "This page has been deleted. The deletion and move log for the page are provided below for reference." Is it possible to remove that page entirely, so that the notice doesn't show up? I am going through all the guidelines for properly submitting an article, so I will make sure that future posts have been reviewed in the Sandbox prior to putting it up. Thank you.

Deleted My Page[edit]

Hello, I am fairly new to Wikipedia. On November 13 2014 my page for Anita Fuentes was deleted. Is there anything I can do to restore it? It was deleted under A7 but if I need to edit why she is significant than I can do that. I can also add more citation and references, because I didnt do that as much as I should have. Please give me a chance. I would love her to have a wiki page. I guess my question is what is so wrong with her page and do I have a chance to fix it? Thank you 588userd (talk) 07:17, 16 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • You need to cite reliable independent sources (see WP:V) to show that she is notable per our standards at WP:BIO. NawlinWiki (talk) 15:48, 19 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of Spencer Trask & Co page[edit]

Hi NawlinWiki,

I recently tried to create a page but unfortunately on 21:20, 21 October 2014 you deleted it because of A7: No explanation of significance (real person/animal/organization/web content/organized event). I would love to understand a bit further about the guidelines and what would warrant significance. As this organization history dates back to the 1800's and since that time, they have been investing in entrepreneurs that have changed the world. For instance (what I did not include, but could easily do so in a future iteration) was that Spencer Trask invested in Thomas Edison and his creation of the light bulb and what eventually became Edison and Company. Additionally, in more recent history, they invested in Ciena which led to rapid adoption of the internet in the early 1990's. For my own edification, is this the type of content that needs to be included to warrant organizational significance. Any direction for future pages would be greatly appreciated. Thank You!

Can you take a look at these files. please?[edit]

This smells like this one. What do you think? Bearian (talk)

Shawn Kolodny Article[edit]

Hello, curious to know what kind of page was created for Shawn Kolodny? I am looking to create a new page with this name, but I would like to know the history on this deleted article before moving forward. Thank you very much. Tegrofdrowssap (talk)

Hey Nawlin!

Thanks for all your good efforts patrolling new pages. I was just taking the BLPPROD off of this article - it now has properly formatted references - when I noticed that it probably shouldn't have been been tagged in the first place. WP:BLPPROD says that it shouldn't be tagged if it has any references, including external links - and the article had a number of external links in its body that served to verify its content. You may want to keep an eye on that sort of link in the future. --Nat Gertler (talk) 01:47, 22 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks![edit]

Thanks for the timely block of User:32.218.71.206! They were really on a tear, vandalizing articles at the rate of several a minute. You stopped them in their tracks. Well done! --MelanieN (talk) 02:58, 22 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Evidently I just edited the wrong copy of the Thomas Cobb article. I had just added a WP:RS to the article, and left a message on that article's talk page. Could you please either undelete the two pages to my talk page, or email copies to me? I'd rather not redo the citation (it was to a Washington Post article), and I'd really like to avoid recreating the talk page post. - Neonorange (talk) 03:20, 22 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, Why do you delete my sandbox document?[edit]

i wonder why you delete and what is advertising-

plz answer me why.

NQ Mobile Inc. Products[edit]

Hi NawlinWiki,

I don't understand as the NQ Mobile product section was already there I just added the new products from their expansion with descriptions similar to how it was. These products are part of the history and companies growth.

Should I change it to read more like a paragraph similar how Microsoft is done? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microsoft#1984.E2.80.9394:_Windows_and_Office

I thought it was nicer with the management changes under history and the new software being created under the product section.

Please advise.

-reg Rgeurts (talk) 19:10, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Whether it was there before or whether you added it, you need to avoid language like "designed to keep you in control of your phone, allowing you to easily manage your calls and contacts with a touch of a button." Anything that sounds like a reason why "you should use this product" does not belong on Wikipedia. NawlinWiki (talk) 19:35, 25 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Request to retrieve what you deleted[edit]

Request to retrieve what you deleted
Hi, you just deleted the page I created 'IceBusters Ltd.' ... can you please tell me, firstly, why, and secondly can you let me at least access the typed content that I had put up that I would like to get back.

I look forward to a prompt response.

Thank you very much. Hhsb123 (talk) 16:02, 26 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • The article was deleted because it was written in promotional language, see WP:SPAM and WP:NPOV, and because it did not cite reliable independent sources, see WP:V, to show that the company is notable per our standards at WP:CORP. At your request, I have restored the deleted copy to your userspace at User:Hhsb123/IceBusters Ltd.. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:09, 26 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks NawlinWiki. You have a cool job. I'll meet the regulations before launching it again.

How did you get into working for Wikipedia?

William McBride Private[edit]

Hi, I've been working with a group of students in UCD working on Irish historical figures associated with WWI as part of outreach work with Wikimedia Community Ireland. I saw this article earlier, and while it was not without it's issues (they are all brand new editors), the subject is actually a relatively well known figure in the British Isles. If the students republish, would it be possible to work with them to improve the article rather than speedily delete it? Smirkybec (talk) 22:12, 26 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Fax marketing page[edit]

I noticed a user edited an article called "Fax broadcast" and tried to make it into a "How To do it" promotional article which you rightly slapped down. The current page entitled "Fax Broadcasting" redirects to "Junk Fax". I'd like to write an article entitled "Fax Marketing" that is simply a description of the term rather than touting or discrediting the activity. I suspect the tone of the article (and term) "Junk Fax" represents an American bias when in fact Fax marketing or fax broadcast is a legitimate and accepted advertising medium in some countries. I respectfully put to you that redirecting the term "Fax Broadcast" to the article "Junk Fax" is unnecessarily pejorative. So I'm asking you whether you'd be open to this or whether I'd be wasting my time? Regards Butn (talk) 06:55, 30 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Just checking but are you certain you wanted Talk:2011 AFL season to be full edit-protected? Move-protected I get but I think you may have meant semi-protection as it's a little unusual to fully protect a talk page, especially for months. Maybe it was from Talk:2011 AFL season/cleanup -- Ricky81682 (talk) 06:24, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes, I'm certain. We have a serial vandal who creates multiple autoconfirmed accounts to get around the semiprotection. NawlinWiki (talk) 15:11, 1 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
