Aversan Inc.[edit]

More reliable sources were added in. What do you mean by promotional language. I do not see any of that in the page? Can you provide an example? What would make the page stay up without being deleted? Appreciated. osap21 12:02, 9 February 2015 (EST)

  • "Aversan is a leader in end-to-end software solutions", and the list of what Aversan "offers" to its customers, among others. NawlinWiki (talk) 17:05, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Changed to be very straight forward with no "promotional" language and only 3-rd party sources. Is that better? Appreciate the help! osap21 12:39, 9 February 2015 (EST)
  • It still says Aversan is "a leader" in software solutions. Also, the citations are either to promotional material or articles that only mention this company in passing. I've nominated the article for a deletion discussion, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Aversan inc.. NawlinWiki (talk) 17:41, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • That was taken out a minute before your last post. Must have been editing when you were looking at it. What about the HL7 and other sources. They are not PRs and do not mention it in passing. They validate the content described. The PRs that are on there and mention it in passing still are 3rd party sources and validate the information. Why does it matter if it is only in passing. The content that is described in passing is okay with Wiki policy. osap21 12:42, 9 February 2015 (EST)
    • The HL7 is merely a directory listing. Please look at WP:RS. Any further arguments should be made on the AFD discussion page. NawlinWiki (talk) 17:47, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Arthur Zaharchuk[edit]

Hi Can you look into this page Arthur Zaharchuk. There is a case of Edit warring. But i thought to ping you so that you can look into it and take requisite steps. Thanks. Lakun.patra (talk) 17:04, 3 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Regarding "Slavery and "Family Life" -- request for comments" 2[edit]

Would not it be better to temporarily remove the object of the dispute, waiting for other users to express themselves?? Some of the point raised by Dustylappss, like the extremist online preacher or the openwiki, have already been dismissed for not being realible sources. Others use the news in a distorted way: for example in the openwiki linked by Dustylappss news regarding sex traffcking crimes are part of the section "Muslim Statistics (Slavery)": is a blatant manipulation, like describing the romanian's woman sex traffcking in Europe "Orthodox Statistics"! And so on. A BBC link we're provided to explain the reason why te slavery thing must stay; i provided multiple resources proving that slavery it's not part of modern islam, it's not part of muslim family life and it's condemned in every form by the highest Muslim authorities, and that both muslim and western scholars dismissed the position of groups like isis, boko haram and others extremist ideology. It seems to me that this point about slavery being pushed despite all evidence to the contrary, for this reason I ask whether it would be better to intervene? Thanks for your time. CallAng222 (talk) 20:01, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • I agree with you on the merits, but I've already reverted twice and so can't revert again because of WP:3RR. That's why I posted the RFC, to try to get other editors involved. NawlinWiki (talk) 16:34, 30 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

These users force their idea on WK, no matter how many editors are involved... The involving of other editors will only create another edit war. Mainstream sources that i and other users provided, and the sources that were provided by pro-slavery editors herself (BBC1 and the book 2 ) write clearly that slavery is a fact contextualized in the past: as far as i know WK is based on sources, so i don't understand why a group of users that rely their opinion on open wiki and online preacher can impose their opinion on an important page like that - moreover distorting the content of their own sources. As you can see in talkpage i and other editors we have made great efforts in an attempt to lean on reliable sources, for those reason and for the fact that no other editors were involved in the discussion, I would ask an administrative intervention for two reasons:

  • The sources clearly show that slavery must be contextualized in the past;
  • There has never been consensus on these entries; as you can see from here: 19:36, 4 October 2014‎ Helpwoks starting from this insertion then there has always been an edit war.

Robert McPhelan page deletion[edit]

So, an Irish immigrant who came here and was awarded a congressional medal of honor is not notable enough to have his own page, even when he is referenced many times in CMOH recipients?

Loriehiattrogers (talk) 21:28, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • A Congressional Medal of Honor indeed makes one notable. But your article didn't say that. It read, in full, "Robert McPhelan was born in Queens Co Ireland around 1835.". If you will rewrite the article to state your claims of notability, with sources, feel free to repost it. NawlinWiki (talk) 21:31, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I was working on it and got pulled away...

Thanks! Loriehiattrogers (talk) 21:40, 5 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Awna Teixeira undeletion[edit]

Hi there, I tried to make a wiki page for myself several years ago. I made some mistakes in writing it and it was subsequently deleted. I am trying to remake a new one following all guidelines. What should I do next? Thanks, Awna Stargazermusicbooking (talk) 06:06, 6 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Modification of block[edit]

Hi NawlinWiki - note that I have modified your block on 190.200.0.0/16. There is far too much collateral on this extremely large range to hard block it. If you do run up against proxy use in the range, please use smaller more targeted blocks. It is also helpful to as a checkuser to run a collateral check in cases such as this; there is a "Quick CheckUser requests" at SPI that can be used to make the request - the turnaround time is generally, as the name suggests, quick. --Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 00:20, 7 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Illidiance[edit]

Hello, I've noticed that you've removed the article about Russiam Group Illidiance. I researched and found that they are actually quite known in the Methal music world and especially in Russia, so it may be wise to reinstate the article. Regards. Arthistorian1977 (talk) 17:48, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • OK, on the understanding that you will add in the sources you found. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 17:50, 9 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

RevDel request[edit]

I'm picking on you because I talked with you once and you're "willing to handle RevisionDelete requests." Could you please clear this gross BLP attack (found w/Huggle), under criteria R2? Thanks! FourViolas (talk) 12:41, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

About your (non)participation in the January 2012 SOPA vote[edit]

Hi NawlinWiki. I am Piotr Konieczny (User:Piotrus), you may know me as an active content creator (see my userpage), but I am also a professional researcher of Wikipedia. Recently I published a paper (downloadable here) on reasons editors participated in Wikipedia's biggest vote to date (January 2012 WP:SOPA). I am now developing a supplementary paper, which analyzes why many editors did not take part in that vote. Which is where you come in :) You are a highly active Wikipedian (59th to be exact!), and you were active back during the January 2012 discussion/voting for the SOPA, yet you did not chose to participate in said vote. I'd appreciate it if you could tell me why was that so? For your convenience, I prepared a short survey at meta, which should not take more than a minute of your time. I would dearly appreciate you taking this minute; not only as a Wikipedia researcher but as a fellow content creator and concerned member of the community (I believe your answers may help us eventually improve our policies and thus, the project's governance). PS. If you chose to reply here (on your userpage), please WP:ECHO me. Thank you! --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 23:14, 11 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Palestine and blocked proxies[edit]

Hi, NawlinWiki. You've blocked 110.77.214.116 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) for a year as a blocked proxy. I would think 110.77.214.140 (talk · contribs · WHOIS) is the same person, don't you? Also, though annoyingly I can't place it now, I saw a report somewhere very recently about another IP, beginning I think with 110, who kept making changes on the argument that there's no such thing as a state of Palestine. What do you think of a range block, for instance for 110.77.214.0/22 or perhaps more? I bet they're all proxies, and that there's nothing useful out of them. Regards, Bishonen | talk 13:26, 20 February 2015 (UTC).[reply]

  • These are all proxies used by User:JarlaxleArtemis. I've done the rangeblock. Thanks! NawlinWiki (talk) 15:41, 20 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
    • Oh, great, thanks! I never thought of Jarlaxle — I guess I've thought of him more as a figure of history. Vandalizing Wikipedia round about the time of the Peace of Westphalia. Bishonen | talk 17:55, 20 February 2015 (UTC).[reply]

Gravitation unprotection[edit]

Hi, you semi-protected this article in Feb 2011 (as has been recently pointed out to me by a new IP contributor). Since it's been more than four years now, I'm asking if you will unprotect it so anybody can edit? Cesiumfrog (talk) 09:47, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

NawlinWiki, whilst I appreciate your response to the above request, the article has since been moved to Gravity, meaning that you only unprotected a redirect, rather than the actual article. Please correct this error. RGloucester 18:12, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Your response would be useful at EF/FP[edit]

Please respond to Wikipedia:Edit filter/False positives/Reports#Mirbayed - this would appear to be the result of this edit filter change you made. עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 08:30, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • Not sure why that is triggering, but I reverted my last filter change, which should fix things. Thanks, NawlinWiki (talk) 15:54, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

IP User block[edit]

I don't see the 1 year block notification at User talk:98.218.106.225. Nyth63 22:14, 25 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Filter log[edit]

Hello,

I'm sorry to bother you here but I can't edit the filter log page anymore... I tried to edit Muhammadu Buhari's page to add informations about his campaign runner, David Axelrod, and about the new support of Olusegun and I've been stopped again, by the same filter... I really don't uderstand what's happening with this edit in particular.
