Getting started

[edit]

Hey NearMiddayNight, here are a few helpful tools that might help you.

  • I would recommend enabling this gadget called Twinkle. Which is used for maintenance such as (Warning Vandal, Removing Vandals, Reporting Vandal to WP:AIV, Welcoming Users, Requesting Article Deletions) etc. To enable Twinkle on your account and receive any future updates automatically, you can simply enable the "Twinkle" gadget in the Gadgets section of your Preferences page. (Don't forget to click "Save" at the bottom of the list of gadgets!).
  • this website tracks edits made by IP users. You can revert edits that are only unconstructive i.e. vandals.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. ~~ CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 06:53, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I already have ;) NearMiddayNight Feel free to come talk with me 10:49, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
NearMiddayNight, nice, also use the warning feature when reverting vandals. Thanks. ~~ CAPTAIN MEDUSAtalk 10:52, 26 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Well that's the thing, this list is badly defined. Presumably it is a list of composers who wrote Medieval music in the western classical vein, hence its inclusion in "Lists of classical music composers by era and century". I'm planning on developing the list further as I think its scope is more reasonable than the later lists, simply because we know less composers from Medieval times. I'm hesitant to include people like Yared since it would be against the lists presumptive scope of European composers, since "Medieval" most often refers to that stage of European history only – in fact "Medieval" and "Medieval era" do redirect to Middle Ages, in the European sense.

Aza24, I was about to write that on the talk page for it, I had some computer troubles before I could. I would argue that since the Medieval era is a timeframe then it should relate to any composers from the time, And the real answer is to move the page to something like List of european medieval composers. On a side note, maybe I shouldn't be the one talking since I'm not authority on the matter and your user page makes me think you might be. I would not act further if you were to revert my revert on the page. This is just my uninformed opinion. NearMiddayNight Feel free to come talk with me 02:38, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
As far as I've seen "Medieval" is a term most often used to refer to the European part of history. A change to List of european medieval composers would be out of place without changing Medieval music to European Medieval music which I doubt would receive much support. Either way, this can be solved when I tweak the lead to make it clear the list is of Medieval composers in respect to the history or Europe, similar to how the first sentence of the Middle ages does ("In the history of Europe, the Middle Ages or Medieval Period lasted "). I do feel pretty confident that Yared doesn't belong there, but in terms of Syrian and Byzantine composers, I will do some more digging to if the scope of Medieval music would include them. Yeah I think a preface explaining that would do the job. I would then ask, since again, I am absolutely not an authority on the matter. Where should Yared be placed? NearMiddayNight Feel free to come talk with me 03:31, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect Yared in particular is a semi-mythical figure, at the moment he is in List of Ethiopians#Saints which seems like the appropriate place for him. If a List of composers from Ethiopia (akin to the many composers by nationality lists already in existence) was made, he could probably be included there as well. Aza24 (talk) 04:26, 21 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I would have to differ to you, I think then he should probably be removed from List of medieval composers and keep leave it on List of Ethiopians#Saints. NearMiddayNight Come chat

Edits on "Visa requirement" articles

[edit]

Hi, I wanted to let you know that I appreciate your constructive edits on various "visa requirement" articles. However, you had a typo in them, and you copy-pasted that into a number of articles. Minor mistake, and it's been fixed now. I'd just like to ask that you check your spelling before quickly pasting the same text into multiple articles. Thanks. --Brandon5485 03:30, 11 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
