Orphaned non-free media (Image:Stephen Fry Parkinson Interview.png)[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Stephen Fry Parkinson Interview.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:26, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Ricky 1[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Ricky 1, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Thanks for catching the hack on my user page[edit]

I am not exactly sure what happened either, but I have a fairly good idea. I am a University professor and it looks like a student that I caught plagiarizing a paper (one week into the semester no less) and gave an F to stopped by my office to talk about the situation and found me around the corner at lunch and my laptop on and logged in, so he just started trying to mess with stuff to be blamed on my account. The jackoff basically saw his chance and took it. I changed the password and looked under my contributions and I think I fixed the one entry he was successful in messing with, but it never occurred to me to check my own user page. Thanks for covering me on this - it looks like he was just randomly accessing user sites and making it look like I made the entries so he could tell his hacker buddies he hacked my account when he didn't. He has a meeting with me and the Dean first thing in the morning, after which he will probably be waiting until Spring to re-enroll. I know, I need to be more careful about leaving my computer logged on and active, but in 20 years this is the first time this had happened. Oh well, live and learn. Once again, thanks! Proposal to shut down WP Geographic Coordinates & ban coordinates on wikipedia articles[edit]

This means you. --Tagishsimon (talk) 12:06, 17 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Replaceable fair use File:Jonny Jakobsen as Dr Bombay.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Jonny Jakobsen as Dr Bombay.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. – Finnusertop (talkcontribs) 21:22, 14 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]
