Draftification of Pope, Tennessee[edit]

Hello! As an uninvolved editor, I was a bit surprised by the draftification of Pope, Tennessee: I thought WP:POPULATED meant that such stubs pass notability so long as there is reasonable evidence of legal recognition and population. The source in the draft is from the United States Department of the Interior, suggesting legal recognition, and a quick search on Google Maps shows a handful of houses and a volunteer fire department.

I'm a new-ish editor and notice from your userpage that you have many, many years of experience on Wikipedia, so I'd be grateful to hear the opposing argument, as I come across quite a few of these settlement stubs and it's sometimes frustrating trying to find the sources to justify them! Thanks so much in advance. IgnatiusofLondon (talk) 18:08, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Many, many years of mediocre editing (at best), hah! Regarding these places, I actually initially created the pages based on the reasoning above. And then noticed some of them had started getting tagged with possible non-notable banners. I then realized that the notability guideline included this clause: "The Geographic Names Information System and the GEOnet Names Server do not satisfy the "legal recognition" requirement and are also unreliable for "populated place" designation." I fully intend to do some more research to see if I can find any reliable sources that mention some of these that I draftified, but wanted to stick them into draftspace for the time being. I certainly would welcome any help in that! nf utvol (talk) 19:47, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh wow, I can't believe I missed that clause: it's literally there! Thanks; I appreciate the really helpful reply! IgnatiusofLondon (talk) 20:00, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Navbox[edit]

Those shouldn't be redlinks indefinitely; they're obviously notable as articles. Neither converting them to drafts nor converting them to redirects is at all appropriate; we need to leave them as redlinks until someone writes articles. Nyttend (talk) 23:12, 16 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Jaybird Cave moved to draftspace[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Jaybird Cave. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Broc (talk) 10:59, 8 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
