License tagging for Image:Kings logo v2.gif[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kings logo v2.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 18:09, 26 January 2007 (UTC)

Welcome[edit]

Welcome!

Hello, Niaz, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are some pages that you might find helpful:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or place {{helpme}} on your talk page and ask your question there. Again, welcome!  --Ragib 06:07, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

EWU[edit]

I deleted the logo because it had been tagged with a licence more restricted than the GFDL required for Wikipedia. I see it has been retagged as fair use, which may avoid the GFDL problem. jimfbleak 20:58, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

If they are your images, chose the GFDL-self option when asked to select a tag, and make sure that you say in the description that they are your images. Other options, like for use on wikipedia only, or educational use only, are more restrictive than GFDL, and inevitably lead to speedy deletion. Hope this helps, jimfbleak 08:38, 3 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Smile![edit]

  • Hi Niaz Bhai, welcome to wikipedia. Nice editing on EWU. It would be better if you add images on this article. BTW, Private University entries in wikipedia needs massive help. Very few BD wikipedians have the courage to expand private university related articles on wikipedia. I'm trying to expand it, though not much has been achieved yet. You can add contents on red link {{Private Universities of Bangladesh}} if you get information or you can expand stub related articles as well. However nice to meet you. Thanks again. NAHID 08:33, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • Yeah, I'd second that. Private unis in Bangladesh need loads of help from everyone. NAHID happens to be the only Wikipedian widely interested in the subject. But, his Herculean efforts need ample support from people like you. I've been on and off in the project, mostly in the area of keeping the lot organized in a comprehensive category structure. It would be a great help if you took the work further. Cheers. Aditya Kabir 15:56, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Wiriting in Bangla[edit]

Though I don't have an account with the Bangla Wikipedia, neither do I contribute in Bangla, I guess I still can give you three links that might actually help you:

  • Writing in Bangla script: 010203

May be you can check out with some of the Wikipedians who have common accounts both in Bangla and English Wikipedia. User:NAHID could very well be the starting point. Cheers. Aditya Kabir 06:22, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Niaz, if you are using Windows, Avro can be a great option for writing Phonetic Bangla. We are also trying out built-in Bangla typing in the forms, that should come out pretty soon.
The links provided above work fine, especially 02 has several keyboard modes and can convert old text.
If you are interested about Bangla wikipedia, you can go ahead and open an account there. We can help you about any topic once you join and start editing. Also, there is a mailing list. Thanks. --Ragib 07:09, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject History of Bangladesh has started. It needs members and participants. Aditya Kabir 11:59, 17 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Paharpur and Mahasthangar[edit]

There's already a stub article for Paharpur. Your contributions would be most welcome there. But, make sure that you cite your sources, so that they don't fall into the area of original research. Especially helpful would be images. If you took any images there, please, upload them to Wikimedia Commons. Aditya Kabir 15:35, 12 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rajshahi University[edit]

Check out the Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Rajshahi University/archive1 if possible. Thanks--ppm 05:11, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks a lot for your perceptive input. I have responded on my talk page.--ppm 20:38, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I have left some comments on improving the article East West University on its talk page. You may be interested to take a look at those. Cheers. Aditya Kabir 16:55, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have just put the article to peer review. Would you care to take a look? Aditya Kabir 20:34, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have put some more suggestions on the talk page. Please, check. BTW, you're doing great with the article. Please, do also check Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, and take the subject as a matter of academic interest, not propagating an organization you're involved with. A lot many people fail to do that and only manage to disrupt the process of creating a reliable encyclopedia. Let's at least aim for a good article status for the article. Cheers. Aditya Kabir 05:22, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Happy birthday dude. Anyway, nice work in wikipedia. Keep going.[edit]

Russell Group[edit]

These images, which you added to Russell Group, are all non-free content and are included in Wikipedia under fair use doctrine. "The use of non-free media in lists, galleries, and navigational or user interface elements is normally regarded as decorative" (per WP:NFCC) and is therefore not normally allowed. I have removed the material again; my apologies if you've wasted any effort there. — mholland (talk) 14:37, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Niaz Bhaiya, I noticed You've added lot of images in EWU article. It would be nice if you upload those images in commons and make a link into the article page.Just open another account there :).Thank you--NAHID 17:41, 28 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You have done a great job with the article. I am pretty confident that it can now be made into a GA nominee. Only one thing remains a problem with the article - the sources. As of now, all the references are sourced from the university itself, which is slightly against Wikipedia principles on reliable sources. It would be great if you or someone else put some secondary sources or third-party sources as reference. I have tagged the article to that end, so that editors take notice and help out. Unfortunately, User:NAHID is trying to keep the tag removed, which would hinder the article from getting help (check Talk:Lou Schuler article history, its talk page and the AfD discussion to find out what I mean. In fact, I had to ake extreme measures to make that article foolproof by Wiki-standards). I need your endorsement to keep NAHID from hindering the process of developing the Wikipedia as a whole, and the article you have worked so hard for in particular. Aditya Kabir 18:38, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please, take a look at Talk:East West University#The "primary source" tag. Aditya Kabir 19:29, 31 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I really hoped that we could improve the article to a formidable status. Well, since there is not much positive activity on the part of you and some other editor very keen on reverting stuff I do there, I guess I will leave article to you two for the time. Please, see that the article eventually becomes a nice entry on Wikipedia, not a display of non-neutral points of view. I know that both of you have the best of Wikipedia on your mind. Aditya Kabir 05:42, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Uttara University Logo.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Uttara University Logo.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Uttara University Logo.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 14:53, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Duplicate images uploaded[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Uttara University Campus.JPG. A machine-controlled robot account noticed that you also uploaded the same image under the name Image:DSC06063.JPG. The copy called Image:DSC06063.JPG has been marked for speedy deletion since it is redundant. If this sounds okay to you, there is no need for you to take any action.

This is an automated message- you have not upset or annoyed anyone, and you do not need to respond. In the future, you may save yourself some confusion if you supply a meaningful file name and refer to 'my contributions' to remind yourself exactly which name you chose (file names are case sensitive, including the extension) so that you won't lose track of your uploads. For tips on good file naming, see Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions about this notice, or feel that the deletion is inappropriate, please contact User:Staecker, who operates the robot account. Staeckerbot 17:15, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Uttara University Logo.jpg[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Uttara University Logo.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:35, 17 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. — mholland (talk) 18:35, 17 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have deprecated Wikipedia:WikiProject History of Bangladesh and made it Wikipedia:WikiProject Bangladesh/History Workgroup. I also have mass migrated the participants from the former project to the new workgroup. May be I was a little too bold here. Forgive me for doing this without consultation. The move was a part of the effort to rehash the entire Bangladesh project. If you and other participants agree, the next step should be deleting the previous page. Hopefully, The new workgroup would improve the level of activity related to coordinating our efforts. Please, respond to my talk page. Aditya (talkcontribs) 21:53, 18 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Moving articles via cut and paste[edit]

Hello, Niaz. It appears that you copied and pasted AIUB to American International University - Bangladesh. Please do not move articles by copying and pasting them because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself using the move link at the top of the page, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you, — mholland (talk) 19:47, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I actually didn't do any cut-past stuff rather I tried to restore the original article. American International University - Bangladesh is the original name of this university and AIUB is its abbreviation. We are trying to improve its quality from WikiProject_Bangladeshi_Universities. At Wikipedia, American International University - Bangladesh - this link holds original article and AIUB holds a redirect. Day before yesterday, one of our newly registered (compare to others) members copied whole text to AIUB and left a redirect in American International University - Bangladesh. I just changed his edits and made it as it was previously. Thanks for your concern in Bangladeshi university articles. Niaz bd 00:38, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Debate: Search for deliberately mispelled words.[edit]

Deliberately misspelled words such as "seperate" are marked with the word (sic) including the parentheses, thus "seperate (sic)"

Suppose that a spelling corrector person wishes to correct such misspelled words wishes to search for them by searching for the word (sic). Well the wikipedia search function matches a lot of false matches since sic is a valid word in its own right in Latic, and is also a substring or words like baSIC or pepSICo.

Just as it helps clarity to dot the letter "i", it would help to change the (sic) to something else less likely to make false matches. Two suggestions are achieved by doubling the (sic) word, to say (sicsic) or (ssiicc).

Debate!

There are other problems with the wikipedia search function which can be debated later. Tabletop 12:05, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Debating Wiki-Project[edit]

Hi friend, I joined your Wikipedia project :-) Look forward to working with you! ScarianTalk 11:37, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, no worries. I was just wondering if all the articles that have currently been assessed represent an exhaustive list of the debate articles? Or are there quite a few out there? ScarianTalk 17:35, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
We could probably do all of those jobs, including proper assesment, in just a couple of days. "I randomly added assessment tag at few articles" - Phew! I looked at a couple of the articles that you tagged as 'B-Class' and a lot of them were either too short or had no citations at all to be a B-Class. Hehe, is it okay if I change a few of them and demote them to more represent their true status?
On that subject, I think we also must decide on how best to write guidelines so that when other editor's go to do assessment they have guidelines on which to base their assessment.
Recruiting: We could ask user's whom have taken a strong interest in editing/contributing to the debate articles to join. I am pretty sure that quite a few people would join from that group. I will ask a few today.
Btw, I would just like to say that the Project page looks really good, and the tags look real professional. Good stuff, well done. :-) ScarianTalk 12:27, 22 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have supported to Keep the article. If it gets deleted don't be too disheartened, friend. ScarianTalk 15:07, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Reply[edit]

Yes, I agree with you. We could improve those articles by adding some ref+, inline citations and free images. As for Notre Dame College (Dhaka), there are plenty of ref+ located at External link section. We may use them as inline citation. And Viqarunnisa Noon School needs complete rewriting.

As for NSU article, I don't see any major problem (References, advert, tone, grammar, style, cohesion) with it. What we need is, just improve the article by adding free images and expanding the sections. And NSUSS article met full criteria of speedy deletion process ( {{db-nocontent}} ). Thank you--NAHID 09:45, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • I don't know any current NDC student :). Once I planned to go to NDC and take some pictures, but ditto. Re: VNS[edit]

I do revisit the articles I have worked on periodically. Currently I am leaving this to you, but I may come back to it to lend a hand sometimes. Do ask me if you have questions. Well, for one, you can take a look at tying the three Vikarunnisa articles, on the school, the college and the university, together. One more thing, since you two are working so valiantly and diligently on Bangladesh private university articles, you may think about cutting down on lists and turning them into prose. The process is described at Wikipedia:Embedded list. If you need to draw attention of other editors to the task, you can make use of {{list to prose}} or {{prose}} tags. Cheers. World Universities Debating Ranking - Proposed Deletion[edit]

I have nominated the World Universities Debating Ranking page for deletion - see: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/World Universities Debating Ranking. The rankings are an entirely unofficial creation of Colm Flynn's, and while they're of interest to people who visit the World Debating Website, I don't think such unofficial rankings should be in an international encyclopaedia like Wikipedia. No offence intended, but I think Wikipedia is the wrong place for this info. Singopo 02:17, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My biggest strength is also my biggest weakness on Wikipedia. My work in Hong Kong has given me opportunity to devote some time to wikipedia as well as the infratructure (24/7 high speed internet access) for doing so. But at the same time, it has restricted my access to references and people in Bangladesh. None the less, I'll do my best to contribute to a "Debating in Bangladesh" article. Meanwhile let's try to shape-up more basic articles (e.g. Education in Bangladesh), which should preceed a good article on Debating in Bangladesh. Arman Aziz 06:16, 17 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
