Hi! Good work on doing all those vandalism reverts. You may also want to start adding warnings to the user pages of the vandals - there are a ton of good, easy templates to use at: Wikipedia:Template messages/User talk namespace. Mcwatson 15:48, 11 July 2007 (UTC)

AfD nomination of H. S. Paul School

I've nominated H. S. Paul School, an article you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but in this particular case I do not feel that H. S. Paul School satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion; I have explained why in the nomination space (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and the Wikipedia deletion policy). Your opinions on the matter are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/H. S. Paul School and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of H. S. Paul School during the discussion but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion discussion. Thank you. Transcontinental countries

Way to set the putz straight who plastered the transcontinental country page with his/her Eurocentric nonsense! I am a lifelong US citizen who believes in factual integrity of geographical Wikipedia pages and detests unvarnished bias like we saw. It would have been better netiqutte for the culprit to delete Denmark from the island list than to insult North Americans with the BS that you graciously reverted. I refrained from giving the culprit my piece of mind, but simply felt like thanking you. It wasn't vandalism, but was inappropriate nonetheless. I never thought that the universe could be centered on North America any more than it could be centered on Europe. Heff01 01:28, 13 August 2007 (UTC)

Thank you

For helping me on the Mad minute page. Have been lost in wikipedia all day here at the office, and when I saw there was no article about the mad minute I just had to make one even thou my head was as heavy as lead.

Concerning Dominique REGEF

Hello to you; it was me who deleted the page, and it was not because it was in French (that in itself would be no ground for speedy deletion), but because even in French it did not establish the notability of the subject (my French is good enough for that), so WP:CSD criterion A7 applies; btw, it does not establish notability now. I intend to delete it again. Cheers and happy editing. Lectonar 15:36, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

OOPS

LOL still getting the hang of this. Forgot to sign my previous comment to you

Hey howcome my paragraphs are not the way I originally wrote them and seem to stretch across my monitor instead of being neat, justified paragraphs.

Hi Again

Hi again

Thanks for the short note regarding my article, or rather attempt at an article on my old high school. I wasn't thinking of doing a full blown information filled article.

I just wanted to add my school to the list and made a couple of comments. I wasn't aware of writing in the third person, nuetral context. I shall keep that in mind in future. I thought the page breaks would keep the article neat with paragraphs of short lines.

I think I know why it looked odd because it must have wrapped to fit my screen which is a widescreen —Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnDarkVampire (talkcontribs) 13:06, August 25, 2007 (UTC)

Empire of Japan (internal politics 1914-1944)

I see you have a history of working on the article Empire of Japan (internal politics 1914-1944). I am looking at it from the project Wikipedia:Unreferenced articles where it is one of the longest {{unreferenced}} tagged articles that does not meet at least the barest minimum of verifiability. It has been tagged and completely without references since June 2006. It would be extremely helpful if you had some references you could add to the article to help support its verifiability and notability. Thanks for any help you can give. AfD nomination of Richard Blenkey

An editor has nominated Richard Blenkey, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Richard Blenkey (2nd nomination) and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:59, 12 March 2008 (UTC)

Prods

I have contested the deletions you proposed for towns in Poschiavo. Human settlements are inherently notable on Wikipedia and shouldn't be deleted. Also, we have a speedy deletion criterion for article which lack sufficient content (WP:CSD#A3), and that would only apply if the article consisted of "zalende is in switzerland". There is enough context to qualify as a stub in these articles, and they should be expanded rather than deleted. Thanks. --Closedmouth (talk) 01:07, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I don't really understand that logic. Are we suddenly running out of space for articles? I mean, if we were talking about minor characters in a TV show, sure, merge away, but these are human settlements, where large(ish) communities of people live. If we could find some decent references I'm sure they could be expanded into excellent articles of interest to plenty of readers. I don't see what deleting them achieves. --Closedmouth (talk) 12:48, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
Cool, just remember, there's no deadline :) --Closedmouth (talk) 06:45, 16 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on British and American Steam Navagation Company, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because British and American Steam Navagation Company is a redirect page resulting from an implausible typo (CSD R3).

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting British and American Steam Navagation Company, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. City of Thieves, A Novel

Hi! I think you made an error while changing the name to City of Thieves, A Novel, for that's the real name of it. Maybe we should put in City of Thieves, A Novel (novel)? Thanks. CFountain (talk) 14:43, 31 January 2009 (UTC)

Copyright concerns, St. Maurice School

Hi. Another contributor tagged the article St. Maurice School for copyright concerns, listing it at Wikipedia:Copyright problems/2009 February 19 for investigation but evidently not notifying you. The material in question seems to have been initially introduced by you, here. The suspected original source of the information is here. Internet archives confirm that their publication of this predates your addition of this text to the article. They also confirm that the school reserved copyright to this text.

Are you in some way connected to the school or otherwise able to verify permission for Wikipedia to publish this material? If you are connected with the school, please see "donating copyrighted materials". If you're not, please see "using copyrighted works from others" for details on how to request and verify permission. For legal reasons, we cannot otherwise accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. Contributors may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences or phrases. Accordingly, the material may be rewritten, but only if it does not infringe on the copyright of the original or plagiarize from that source. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously.

Although this matter has been listed for the requisite seven days, I am going to relist it to allow you time to address these concerns, if you choose, by granting/verifying permission or rewriting the text (there's a temporary page linked from the template blanking the article for that purpose) or otherwise explaining why we may be free to reproduce material from this website. If you have comments, please make those at the article's talk page. If you have questions about any of these processes, you are welcome to place them here. I'm watching your talk page for a few days and will respond. As long as you've been around, I'm sure you also know the various other fora for getting assistance. Thanks. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:12, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

Additional notes

Hi. Thank you for undertaking to address this. While the first paragraph and a half have been amply rewritten, additional revision is necessary thereafter. For example, the temporary page you constructed says:

The source says"

The following paragraph also duplicates some material, in addition to too closely paraphrasing others. While citing is a good first step, we can't duplicate text from copyrighted sources without permission unless it comes under the guidelines at WP:NFC. Material should be written entirely in your own language except (as NFC points out) as necessary for quoting "to illustrate a point, establish context, or attribute a point of view or idea." --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:59, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Just wanted to note that I did not see your revision earlier, I'm afraid. Although I'd watchlisted your page, I did not watchlist the article, and the entry had been consolidated at the copyright problems board prior to your note. It's here, since the rest of the day was completed. In any event, I'm watchlisting the article now in addition to your talk. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:02, 4 March 2009 (UTC)
Hi. While I appreciate your further alterations to this article, I'm concerned that you may not really understand how to rewrite completely in your own words. The problem is not footnoting, the problem is in duplicating text. For one example, you've altered the temporary article to read, "A daycare and the Before and After School Program were opened in May 2002." This remains the same as the original text, except that you've removed the words "St. Maurice." Your next paragraph begins, "Many new facilities were constructed during 2004-2005 school year..." The source says, "Many new facilities were constructed during 2004-2005 school year." The school owns the language on its website. We can't use the language without permission, and that includes minor alterations like removing a word or two or switching out a word. The text has to be completely reconstructed. Please see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. If you'd like to take one more shot at this, I'll give it another few days. If you'd prefer not, let me know, and I will delete the temporary page and restore the article to the last version before the introduction of the copyrighted text. If you have any questions about how to rewrite this text, please let me know here. I would also be happy to bring in another administrator who works on copyright issues if you feel another perspective could help clarify my concerns. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 18:33, 7 March 2009 (UTC)
That seems to have done it. Thank you. I have merged the two versions together and placed the standard note at the talk page advising against restoration of earlier text. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 13:47, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Date of birth missing (living people) vs Year of birth missing (living people)

Hi. Concerning this edit of yours I would like to ask you to read instructions in Category:Date of birth missing (living people) carefully. This category is for use in talk pages only. For articles pages use Category:Year of birth missing (living people) instead. You may have to read WP:BLP as well. The exact date of birth of many living people is a sensitive personal data. -- Magioladitis (talk) 22:16, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Manitoba GA Nomination

Hi Nikkimaria,

I have performed a GA review of Manitoba and put the nomination on hold for seven days. I have put a list of the various things I think should be looked at on the talk page here. The article is quite well written, but needs a little more work to get it to the GA standard. Good luck, and feel free to ask any questions about any of the points that I have raised.

Lankiveil (speak to me) 07:38, 30 May 2009 (UTC).

Hi there. You've done a sensational job, I've picked out three more things that concern me a little (and posted them on the talk page), once they're addressed I'll be delighted to promote the article. Lankiveil (speak to me) 11:38, 4 June 2009 (UTC).
I'm still not wild about that table looking different in styling from the other tables. At the moment, this is probably the only thing holding the article back. Lankiveil (speak to me) 09:36, 5 June 2009 (UTC).
Excellent, I've passed the article, and added it to the GA list. Well done! Lankiveil (speak to me) 23:05, 5 June 2009 (UTC).

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours in accordance with Wikipedia's blocking policy for engaging in an edit war at Tom Swift. Please be more careful to discuss controversial changes or seek dispute resolution rather than engaging in an edit war. If you believe this block is unjustified, you may contest the block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below. — Aitias // discussion 22:21, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

I dont see this as wilful edit warring but I hope you get the message to take more care. The other editor being blocked is not an excuse to get your revert in early.

Request handled by: Spartaz Humbug! 18:46, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

Comment from blocking administrator: You reverted their actions 4 times, not twice: [1], [2],[3], [4], and, at least since this revert you were edit warring. — Aitias // discussion 22:36, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
Sorry, I miswrote - I meant that I reverted it twice today. And how does that edit constitute edit warring if the others don't? I saw that you blocked the anon, and that the anon's most recent edit had not been reverted, so I reverted it. Nikkimaria (talk) 22:43, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
It does constitute edit warring as your use of reverts was both confrontational and in order to win a content dispute. You should have used the talk page after the IP had been blocked. — Aitias // discussion 22:55, 20 July 2009 (UTC)
My intention was not (and is not) to be confrontational. I didn't use the talk page of the article because a)I had already asked the anon, both on his talk page and in my edit summary, to discuss his changes on the talk page, and he did not, and b)even if the anon decided that he wanted to discuss the changes, blocked users can't edit article talk pages. I didn't think that restoring the link would be controversial, so I just did it. Nikkimaria (talk) 23:33, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

I would support an unblock. At least the reverts [5] and [6] are arguably reverts of vandalism because the IP editor removed not only the external link but also categories and interwikis. Because of this, and also because no policy-based reason was given for the contested removals of the external link, it's questionable whether the IP editor was engaged in a good faith content dispute.  Sandstein  17:29, 21 July 2009 (UTC)

Sor Isolina

Hello Nikkimaria, how are you? First off, I'm sorry to see above that you were blocked, but I'm glad that the situation was solved. In regard to Sor Isolina, I got in touch with the nominator and he has some personal problems that have temporary taken him away from Wiki. The thing is that he created the article and posted the nomination. I would gladly help him bring it to GA status, as I have done with other articles, but I don't want to take on the task solely by myself since I have many other projects to do plus, the process at times can be a little stressful. What I would preferrer is for the article to be "un-nominated", until the creator gets back on his feet and decides what he wants to do. Tony the Marine (talk) 03:22, 23 July 2009 (UTC)

Failing history of the family as GA

Re: Talk:History_of_the_family#GA_Review. Could you do me a favor and put it on hold for a week? This article is part of an educational assignment that I annouced at GAN and the students will work on it for the next week, in fact part of the assignment is to try to address GA reviewer's comment. Failing the article outright may be rather demotivational, particularly as most students are not familiar with Wikipedia and may simply give up. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 03:44, 24 July 2009 (UTC)

No, teenage rebellion is an individual student project for extra credit, not a group project. I don't see the need to worry too much about the extra credit, they could too easily swamp GAN with way too many poor quality articles (I never encouraged nomination of individual credit assignments as GA). Still, thank you for exhaustive and excellent reviews on both of those articles; there are three more articles that should appear at GAN soon (I hope... we are already two days after the deadline for that :). PS. I checked and don't see any copyvios/plagiarism in that article, but I rely on simple google search, do let me know if you know of a better tool. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk 03:56, 24 July 2009 (UTC)
