Marking talk page edits as minor[edit]

In case you didn't know, marking talk page edits as minor prevents the "new messages" banner from coming up. For this reason, it's generally a good idea to not mark talk page edits as minor. —Remember the dot (talk) 16:50, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

(this is in response to your edit to User talk:209.158.84.41) —Remember the dot (talk) 16:50, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will stop doing that. Thanks. Nivix 16:53, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome. —Remember the dot (talk) 16:56, 5 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ahh, sorry. According to this, I am mistaken and that rule only applies to bots, so you marking edits to talk pages as minor is not actually a problem. —Remember the dot (talk) 01:27, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism warnings[edit]

Traditionally, when someone gives out a vandalism warning, they should start at the 'level one' warning, which assumes that the person doing the vandializing didn't know what they were doing. Of course, sometimes they DO know what they were doing, which you can go ahead and give a level two warning, or sometimes they are repeat vandals who have already have been blocked, and in only this case would you give a last-level warning right off the spot because you don't start anew after a block. This is in response to the warning you gave at User talk:68.199.76.240. --Umalee 03:17, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In this case, the user was warned by MartinBot minutes before my warning. I followed up with a level three warning, as it was pretty clear that the user was aware of his vandalism. Do you mean that the warning issued by the bot should not be counted? Nivix 03:46, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Projects by type[edit]

Thank you for your contribution to the Project article. This is now linked from Category:Projects by type. However, there is currently a Call for Deletion for this category. If you would like to contribute to the discussion, you would be very welcome. In particular, if you would like to save this category, please add a Keep entry with your "signature" using "~~~~". Please do this soon if possible since the discussion period is very short. Thank you for your interest if you can contribute. Regards, Jonathan Bowen 01:20, 14 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're pretty awesome[edit]

at catching vandals. On all sorts of pages. I'm impressed. coelacan — 18:49, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for blocking the vandals quickly. I really hope more people join in monitoring the recent changes, as the current signal to noise ratio from anonymous users is way too low. Nivix 19:03, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for following up on Texas and trying to get the guy banned. Gosh you're fast! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sentineneve (talkcontribs) 19:16, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Evolution[edit]

Hello Nivix.

It's a user who returned a lot of times. It's better just to revert and report him. Greetings, —DerHexer (Talk) 21:05, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I didn't notice the history of Evolution. Thanks for the information. — Nivix talk 21:12, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. ;) Sry for this edit. I didn't see, that your page was vandalized. —DerHexer (Talk) 21:15, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Question about one of your reverts:[edit]

Hello Nivix. I was wondering why you edited out my short two sentence theory on the development of the HIV history referencing the Libyan leader and the HIV trial in Libya. Please explain. Kanimo 14:06, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure what you are referring to. If you are talking about this revert, I had nothing to do with it. Nivix talk 12:11, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

PS

Vandalism[edit]

I suggest that the ip that I'm using should be blocked. It's used by an entire school with students from 6-12 grade, and any edit would most likely be a vandalism.--209.136.11.40 16:15, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not an administrator on Wikipedia, so I can't do much more than revert the vandalism and report it to WP:AIV if the situation warrants. Vandalism from your IP isn't that heavy, and the administrators usually don't block unless it is absolutely necessary to prevent ongoing vandalism. Thanks for your consideration, though. Nivix talk 16:34, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You know what, here you go, you're too fast, can't count how many times you beat me. Whstchy 00:27, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks again. Are you using WP:TWINKLE or other tools to help you revert vandalism quickly? Nivix talk 00:33, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nope, doing things the old fashioned way. Whstchy 00:40, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You should try it if you haven't already done so. It's a very efficient tool. Nivix talk 00:43, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Alright thanks for the advice Whstchy 00:44, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Beating me to the revert and the report this time Whstchy 18:54, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry about that. I only manage to check a fraction of the recent changes at the busiest hours, so it's purely a coincidence. The more we are, the better. :) Nivix talk 19:02, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If I hadn't just given you a barnstar, I'd give you another. Whstchy 20:55, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Alive and well, thank you. :) Nivix talk 21:00, 28 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

West Memphis 3[edit]

Thanks for the notice. I have reverted and warned the user, but please feel free to revert and warn if (s)he continues. The faster we can remove vandalism from Wikipedia, the better. Nivix talk 02:19, 29 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bob Seger article[edit]

I am wondering why you removed the link I added in the Seger article to the article on the Church of Latter Day Saints, of which Bob is reported to be a member. I'm not familiar with all the complexities of the Mormon faith, but so far as I could tell the link I added was to the mainstream LDS church, which is presumably the one he has joined. I don't see why the link was removed unless Seger belongs to another branch of the church, in which case an appropriate link &/or explanation would be more useful than an unexplained removal of the existing link. Rodparkes 10:23, 2 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sir flatbelly[edit]

Just letting you know that the vandalism you reverted from [[User:70.89.42.178|70.89.42.178] on the Maria Montessori article is now being perpetrated by Sir flatbelly. I've never done a request for block before, so I am unsure as how to proceed. Derumi 17:48, 16 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
