Quote: "As to Korea history, his/her behavior is/was unacceptable. He/she doesn't discuss edits, rarely uses edit summaries, and when he/she does either does so with abusive language. Moreover, he/she freely removes uncontested improvements and inserts language that is horrendous in both style and grammar, just for POV-pushing purposes. I have had disagreements with many editors here, but those are genuine disagreements as to opinion. Korea history's edits were disruptive. --Nlu (talk) 16:48, 29 March 2007 (UTC)"

I see. By the way, Korea history is a man. I have to agree with the fact that his English skills are poor, which is the reason why he is trying to avoid using it. Because of this, he did not write any edit summaries (unacceptable), and wrote very briefly about his opinions. The poor level of English might have been or is viewed as abusive language. (Neutrality is usually possible with advanced levels of the language). Korea history was unacceptably abusing Wikipedia in the beginning. After hearing on your opinion, I agree with you also. Some non-English users (such as korean and japanese wikipedians) port over to the English Wikipedia to declare that their country is the "best". I assume that Korea History is one of them. I will try my best to "preach" him and make him purge himself. Since he was a newcommer (noob), why don't you consider giving him a second chance? And, please do not think of me as a POV-ish person. I am a Korean who lived in America long enough in order to realize that the planet Earth is just one, global world. Again, your consideration about Korea History is greatly appreciated. S'il vous plait, monsieur. Je suis un nationalist de Coree libre. Orthodoxy 21:34, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
P.S., I know that I am not part of the Goguryu (Go-goo-ryu) article, but I do think that Goguryu is neither Korean or Chinese, but a whole, new, seperate kingdom that vanished completely at the end. Maybe it was Korean, maybe it was Chinese. No one knows for now, so I do think that the argument should be stopped. The answer will come in the 22nd century when Time Machines will be invented. Until then, we should not argue and stay in peace. When the answer is told in the future, either Korea or China should admit that Goguryu is not their's. The Dokdo thing is another issue, so I will talk about that later. Orthodoxy 21:34, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would appreciate any intervention you take. Meanwhile, he is already given a second chance; I only gave him, a couple weeks ago, a 24-hour block for 3RR violation, and I didn't block him for any other reason. His behavior seems to have gotten better, but is still not great. --Nlu (talk) 22:35, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Nlu.

the Orthodoxy is say I have to agree with the fact that his English skills are poor, which is the reason why he is trying to avoid using it. Because of this, he did not write any edit summaries (unacceptable), and wrote very briefly about his opinions. it is true. therefore I am trying to overcome my weakness. and I make greater efforts. I'm going to use in Discussion page. Korea history13:44, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I appreciate that. Thanks for writing me. Meanwhile, I do think that when you get a chance, you should take a look at WP:5P (and/or its Korean equivalent, ko:위키백과:다섯_원칙). In particular, the concept of neutral point of view is paramount here. --Nlu (talk) 16:10, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Liu Heita[edit]

Updated DYK query On 4 April, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Liu Heita, which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

not writers?[edit]

Hello Nlu. I'm puzzled by some of your recent edits involving categories. Lin Shu and Yan Fu were certainly writers. In the case of Lin Shu, we can even say that he was a writer before he was a translator (as he himself would've agreed). Indeed he was one of the more well-known classical Chinese stylists during the late Qing Dynasty. Also, both Yan Fu and Lin Shu wrote and published poems. In the case of Xu Fancheng‎, we can say that he was a writer of philosophical works (he didn't just translate). Cheers.--K.C. Tang 07:28, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What I meant was that, at least from the articles alone, it is not clear that they wrote significant original works. If you know that they do, I would appreciate that you add back the category, but put him in a subcategory if possible to classify. Thanks. --Nlu (talk) 16:11, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Please establish Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/He Jiuying to discuss whether He Jiuying should be deleted. Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/He Li should be a page only for the discussion about He Li. Thanks. --Neo-Jay 09:34, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:AFD permits nominations of multiple (related) articles in a nomination, although in this case perhaps I should have nominated He Jiuying from the beginning. I'll think about it. I may do what you ask and make a separate discussion. --Nlu (talk) 16:12, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your reply. I know that related articles can be nominated for deletion together at one page. But it is not the case for He Jiuying and He Li. They are related only in the sense that they are father and son. I have provided and will provide more information and references to prove that they are notable enough to be in Wikipedia. Thanks. --Neo-Jay 16:18, 4 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet tagging[edit]

Hello Nlu. When tagging a user as a sockpuppet, please don't also use an indefinitely blocked template like {{indefblockeduser}}. This places the page in Category:Temporary Wikipedian userpages, whence it is manually removed by maintaining administrators. The sockpuppet templates themselves include notation for blocked users: {{sockpuppet|Example username|blocked}} (suspected) or {{blockedsock|Example username}} (confirmed). Thanks. :) —{admin} Pathoschild 01:50:23, 09 April 2007 (UTC)

OK, thanks, didn't know that. --Nlu (talk) 02:45, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

why?[edit]

Why are there so many chinese wikipedians these days?, i not only want to find out about them (i'm chinese myself), but i also want to leave a message on their talk page,i mean all, the chinese/china/everything chinese, articles is/are being contributed to, meaning everything i thought i could contribute to, has been taken. There should be a link from when you type in 'user' , then 'wikipedia wikipedians' that says chinese editors/contributers listed by name! (sorry but you were the first person I came, across when i was trying to contribute to the article, 'Ziyi Zhang') Wongdai 10:21 10 April 2007 (UTC)

Well, welcome, and in a way, Category:Chinese Wikipedians provides the information you're looking for. However, while communication is appreciated, make sure that you don't end up spamming people. Welcome to Wikipedia. --Nlu (talk) 09:36, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

66.79.163.13[edit]

Hello, Nlu. This IP vandal is at it again. I m bringing it to your attention because you have helped us with him in the past. Last night, he replaced the entire List of characters in Ed, Edd n Eddy with the Barney & friends page. He also impersonated an administrator by placing a semi-protect tag on it. I reported him, but action was not taken. Maybe you would be able to help us again? Thanks. -- Elaich 14:48, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, an administrator did act on it (blocking him/her 24 hours), but I've extended that block to 1 month. Thanks for letting me know. --Nlu (talk) 15:51, 10 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

this template[edit]

Could you explain what this template means? thanks Good friend100 20:09, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

{{somewebsite}}

The template basically means that the image was downloaded from a Web site, with unclear copyright status. If you can ascertain what its copyright status is, you should either tag it as public domain, license given, fair use, or infringement (and in that case, it should be given a speedy deletion tag so that it can be deleted as soon as possible). If the copyright status can't be ascertained, then at some point, the image would have to be deleted. --Nlu (talk) 23:06, 11 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thankyou for protecting this article. I have been meaning to ask for it for ages. A couple of IP's just keep going on it and vandalising it and ruining the good work that I created and that people have edited greatly.

I believe that it should be speedy deleted as calling for disruption (which is itself vandalism). However, can you put this on WP:AN/I so that more people can discuss this as well? Thanks. --Nlu (talk) 13:18, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Three Kingdoms (and Chinese history in general)[edit]

Hi, i'm aware that you and Deadkid dk have been active in maintaining Three Kingdoms-related articles and other articles relating to Chinese history. There are a few propositions i'd like to make but i don't want to have them up for discussion on the talk page of Manual of Style right away because 1. it's a long and arduous process and 2. few people frequent that page. So i hope to get a consensus among active contributors before i put my propositions in motion.

Well for now, i have just two things in mind:

  1. No pinyin within the article (see Lü Bu). i say it looks ugly and inconsistent with majority of Chinese-related articles.
  2. A certain template to go at the top of Three Kingdoms-related article that warns of the easy confusion between fact and ficiton. Hopefully it would put off casual editors from changing the history.

i just feel that up till now we have all been working relatively alone. It might be good to have regular discussions among active and responsible contributors, for both technical and moral supports. Cheers! --Plastictv 16:48, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I agree with not having tones in the articles. However, ü is not a tone; it's to distinguish between the pinyin letters u and ü, which carry different sounds and are not the same vowel. "Lu Bu" would not only render incorrect pronunciation but would be incorrect. (This is not unprecedented; see Teemu Selänne, for example.) I like the idea of a Three Kingdoms-specific fiction template. Thanks for bringing up the idea. --Nlu (talk) 17:01, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, i'm aware that "ü" is not a tone. i was referring to this: Lǚ Bù. Thanks for you support then. i'll get started on the template and let you know when i'm done. :) --Plastictv 06:38, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks. --Nlu (talk) 06:46, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

i've created the template: Template:Three Kingdoms warning. Check it out and see if the wording is okay. Thanks! --Plastictv 18:53, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, just a gentle reminder. Please give me some advice regarding the newly created template. Thanks! :) --Plastictv 06:27, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Looks fine to me. (I didn't ntoice your earlier message; sorry.) --Nlu (talk) 10:42, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Given you're a mediator and not a disputant, would you be happy to help AQu01rius in a paired team for the RfM? Daniel Bryant 06:18, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I don't see myself as a disputant, but in a way, I am a little too involved, that while I do, in my own efforts, try to mediate, I think officially there should be someone else being the mediator with AQu01rius. --Nlu (talk) 16:27, 21 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
OK, that's fine. Thanks anyways. Daniel Bryant 00:36, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Do we know each other?[edit]

Hi, I'm from the Mediation Committee, and I was thinking of stepping in the Goguryeo mediation. But first - do we know each other? You're username seems familiar, but I am not sure if we've actually talked or if your name just popped up on my watchlist. If we do know each other, I would not be able to step into the mediation, since it would impede my neutrality.

Thanks for reading this rather awkward question,
Armed Blowfish (mail) 16:34, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think we've crossed paths before. --Nlu (talk) 06:47, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Nominated Deletion[edit]

You recently nominated I Surrender Records and all subsequent articles for deletion. I do agree with all of it except for the deletion of Valencia as I believe they meet WP:MUSIC. I have listed claim with sources at the deletion page. I just wanted to get your thoughts about it on the deletion page as you did nominate the articles. Acidskater 20:27, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I understand your argument, but I still don't think it's enough. Thanks for the information, though. --Nlu (talk) 21:28, 22 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mediation task[edit]

The mediation task for this case is still pending (Nlu is doing great work though), and I, not yet involved with this subject matter, am willing to mediate this case even though I am not part of the mediation committee (my nomination is in process).

I am a Taiwanese Canadian, and is disinterested with Sino-Korean relations. However, I have strong knowledge in the history of Goguryeo, and hopefully I could provide an outside opinion in addition to resolve this longstanding dispute. Do you guys accept me? AQu01rius (User • Talk) 05:08, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'd be more than happy to have help. --Nlu (talk) 05:42, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It would be nice if we had a dispassionate person of Korean background helping you to mediate. Is that at all possible? WangKon936 05:49, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It would be better to have a third party opinion rather than having a pro Korea or pro China editor doing the mediation. Thanks for your effort. Good friend100 11:29, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I also want to belong to the third party, i'm currently working on the History of Manchuria, written dozen of stub articles, creating a Manchu Wikipedia, i've just started to learn Manchu language as an autodidact and Chinese Mandarin. Manchu history and culture are complicated but so rich. I would remain neutral in that Sino-Korean dispute on that sensible this topic.Whlee 15:10, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Don't label people as "bad" just because they are ethnic Chinese. You simply cannot say "because he is Chinese, he supports Gaugouli" Good friend100 16:02, 15 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I never said that Aquo1rius would be bad. Please do not make unsubstantiated assumptions about me. I just said that it might be nice to have a someone who is dispassionate and Korean by background involved. WangKon936 21:25, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Actually somebody who knows about Korean/Chinese history and has a thir party viewpoint would be best. Good friend100 16:03, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

That may be a good idea also. WangKon936 21:25, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

vague question, sorry[edit]

Hey do you have any idea what "Gudai Zhanzheng Yibailie" might mean, in the context of a book reference as follows: Wuhan Forces Headquarters Editing Division for the Research of Military Materials, Zhongguo, Gudai Zhanzheng Yibailie (Wuhan: Hubei Province People's Publishing House, 1979), 193. Sorry, no tones & no Chinese chars. Ling.Nut 22:41, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

requesting protection[edit]

I am requesting protection of the article Northeast Project of the Chinese Academy of Social Science because of Assault11's numerous deletions of relevant information about Goguryeo over the last few days. Good friend100 01:48, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll take a look. Thanks for letting me know. --Nlu (talk) 05:23, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Right now, I'm not sure -- I had a long day, and I really can't figure out whether Assault11 or Cydevil38 was more responsible for this until I get a few hours of sleep to get some brain function back. :-) :-( My first impression is that, as usual, they're provoking each other, and I am, without further thought, hesitant to protect anything that might be viewed as favoring either of them. I'll take further look once I get some sleep. --Nlu (talk) 05:26, 24 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Why do you care about my page? User:Schmiteye/Unusual This does not affect anybody else, does it? Schmiteye 01:59, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Proceeding with the Goguryeo mediation[edit]

Hello! : )

This is Daniel Bryant and Armed Blowfish from the Mediation Committee, and as you may be aware, we are mediating the Goguryeo Mediation Committee case.

We are sending you this message as you are one of the involved parties in this dispute. Recently, a private wiki was set up for private mediation by the Mediation Committee. As noted by the Mediation Committee policy on confidentiality, mediation is confidential, and therefore the Committee has decided in this case to hold all mediation discussions in this case on the private wiki. Therefore, we need you to get an account so the case can proceed.

To request an account on the private Mediation Wiki, please click this link to email Armed Blowfish. Please include "Goguryeo" somewhere in the subject, e.g. "Private wiki account request for Goguryeo mediation", to note that this email has highest priority. If you do not have email enabled on your account and are unable to use the mail feature, please let us know on Armed Blowfish's talk page.

Thank you so much,
Daniel Bryant and Armed Blowfish (mail), 04:41, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The same IP vandalized immediately prior. I did not trust the edit. If you are the same person, please state whether you are the same person responsible for the vandalism. If not, I suggest that you register; otherwise, I think I may revert again, as I find the information insufficiently reliable given the circumstances. --Nlu (talk) 15:58, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Linkspam[edit]

Hi, i noticed you added a spam warning to the article Sun Ce. Just for your information, i provided those two links when i revamped the article. Those links point to Kongming's Archive, a bona fide online resource for Three Kingdoms-related information. They are definitely not spam. With your understanding, may i remove the warning? (And hopefully this clears up things and prevents unnecessary work in the future for you.) --Plastictv 16:42, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I am not convinced totally that Kongming's Archive is not spam, but I trust your judgment on it. --Nlu (talk) 17:48, 26 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
