RE: How to handle players not qualified for postseason awards

Alright, your question kind of confuses me a little bit, so I'll try to answer your question as best as I can and hopefully I can give you a good answer.

For pitchers, we needn't worry about those. On the articles, we are listing all the pitchers that played a game with the team. For the batters is a different story. After the season, then we might go and add all the players. But for right now 5 days in the season, does it make sense to list a player in the batting stats if they got one AB and grounded out to first? It would just take up space there, as that isn't enough statistics to be considered notable for the team. After the season we may go and put the stats for all players because the season is over. It doesn't make sense to me for us to include a player making one plate appearance for a long time, without playing a game in between his next plate appearance.

In short, don't worry about it right now the 1st week of the season. Just list batters that are eligible for the batting title (3.1 plate appearances per team game), sorted by batting average, and list all starting/relieving pitchers. For listing starting pitchers, if 6 pitchers started or one starter worked out of the bullpen, the 5 pitchers with the most games started will be listed in starting pitchers and all other pitchers will be listed in relief pitchers. Either way, list their season stats, not their stats in games they started or worked in relief.

Does this clarify it up a little bit, or do you still need more answers to your question? --23:16, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Ksy92003

I see what you mean, but still, 5 days in the season that isn't going to be a problem. When that problem arises, we'll decide then what to do regarding the situation. But as of right now, until there is such a scenario as the one you suggested, don't worry about it. --23:26, 6 April 2007 (UTC)Ksy92003

RE: Numbering of games in game logs

Ironically, I was pondering the same question, as today's doubleheader was also postponed. As of right now, since all of the first 3 games in the series, don't worry about doing anything with it until one of the games is actually made up. If they play the doubleheader tomorrow, then after we add tomorrow's scheduled game, once I can find out from mlb.com, espn.com, or yahoo.com whether the made-up game was Thursday's, Friday's, or today's scheduled game, I'll go into the Indians and Mariners templates and adjust that accordingly. I'll take the liberty of doing that so nobody else has to confuse themselves about how to do it. --15:11, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Ksy92003

When I heard that Friday's doubleheader was postponed (I was at a Los Angeles Avengers AFL game when I read the score display and saw the postponement), I thought about this. I wasn't sure what I would do about this if they kept on postponing games. I realized I would have to worry about it anyway because the Indians and the Angels play next, and I work on the Angels articles. I knew that I would have to do something about it, and eventually I just decided not to do anything until a game has been played and go on from there. It would be much easier to do that and less confusing. I don't want anybody to have to go change all the numbering though just because of that. We'll just have to wait and see if they get in the doubleheader tomorrow. --15:28, 8 April 2007 (UTC)Ksy92003

Jamestown

Willy: There have been many comments the Jamestown, Virginia article being just too big. After giving it a lot of thought, I think we could break out a major part of it into a sub-article, perhaps entitled "History of Jamestown Settlement", essentially covering the 17th century period, ending when the capital moved to Williamsburg. As a WP admininsitrator, I have the tools to do this and preserve the talk page and history, etc., but I surely do not want to move on it unilaterally. This is an important piece of WikiProject Virginia. Can we have some comments about this approach, please?

I would appreciate replies to be posted on this page: Talk:Jamestown, Virginia Thanks, Mark in Historic Triangle of Virginia Vaoverland 16:20, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Hi willy, on 5th June 2007, i wrote an article on Geological history of Earth. Now i am wishing to put it forward for FAC. but before that i would wish that once you review it. after that just leave the whole review on my talkpage. thanks, Sushant gupta (talk · contribs) 06:20, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

...there are very few pages in the regular namespace (not including talk, user talk, etc.) that link to this article...
ummhhh... I also used to think the same, but Geology of the Grand Canyon area is also a featured article. This page also had very few pages in the regular namespace when it was nominated for FAC. Though I know that the article i have written needs tobe improved a lot. Is there anything else you think can be done. For past few weeks I am seeing that you are fixing links. Can you improve the article that way. I mean some of the links follow to disambugated pages; can you repair the links to the main pages. thanks, Sushant gupta (talk · contribs) 05:09, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

One of the major problem with the page is that it is not available in other languages. Sushant gupta (talk · contribs) 05:19, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Well i know how to fix links and create disambugated pages; but the problem is that a lot of improvement needs to be done. The article has to follow wikipedia's manual of style in order to meet FA criteria.. What i was asking was that can you fix links as you were doing this job for past few weeks. An important letter

Dear roads editor,

You may have noticed some changes at WP:USRD lately. Some of them, like the cleanup templates and the stub templates, have been astounding and great. Unfortunately, others have been disturbing.

This has become evidenced by the departure of a few prominent editors at USRD, a few RFC's, and much fighting among USRD editors.

After the second RFC, many of us found the opportunity to take a step away from Wikipedia for a while--as a self-imposed wikibreak, or possibly on vacation.

The result of such introspection was that many of us were placing ourselves in a "walled garden" and on a self-imposed pedestal of authority over the roads department. Also, we were being hostile to a few users who were not agreeing with us.

In fact, IRC has been the main incarnation of this "walled garden." Decisions have been made there to conduct grudges and prejudices against a few valued USRD users with poor justification.

For this, we have come to apologize. We have come to ask your forgiveness.

In addition to this, we hope to work as one USRD team from now on and to encourage cooperation instead of the promotion of interests.

All users are welcome to collaborate on IRC, the newsletter, or anywhere else at USRD.

In the future, please feel free to approach us about any issues you may have.

Regards,

Rschen7754 (talk - contribs) 17:19, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Kecoughtanhs.JPG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Kecoughtanhs.JPG. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. The Lee Hall Depot foto in the Newport News article is interfering with the columnization of the neighborhoods in NN. I moved it so that the columns wouldn't be squashed. From the looks of the history of Template:Infobox School, it seems you're struggling to fix the address and location. I'll take a look right now and see if I can't get it to work. When working with a high-use template like Template:Infobox School, it's always best to use a template sandbox like Template:X0 or Template:Infobox School/sandbox; every time the template is updated, every page that uses the template must be regenerated and saved in the database. This includes even really minor changes and even changes that are reverted. Cheers. --MZMcBride 21:07, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

The code should now work properly. Remember to purge if it doesn't display correctly. Cheers. --MZMcBride 02:09, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Westmoreland Seal.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Westmoreland Seal.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 19:39, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

AWB usage and redirects

Re this edit. This falls under the "insignificant or inconsequential" edits to avoid with AWB WP:AWB#Rules of use as well as the "don't fix redirects that aren't broken" WP:R#Do not change links to redirects that are not broken. Cheers! -- JHunterJ (talk) 00:19, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

would love to

thanks for the offer. What type of Virginia articles did you have in mind? I have already been working a little on Arlington, Virginia, but mainly I have been focused on NFL pages. Let me know your thoughts. Jwalte04 (talk) 17:08, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
