Re:disputes[edit]

Thankyou for your message.

I am currently busy with my final semester of high school which ends in January. I won't have time to discuss this properly until sometime next month.

But since I am already here ,I'd like to give you some background to the problem.

  • All(or at least majority)Pakistani or related articles are under the control of Indian users. They revert any changes in large numbers so none of them breaks the 3RR.
  • Note these are not ordinary Indians. They are extremists and extremely anti-Pakistan.

They are stealing our history such as the Indus and keeping all refferences to Pakistan out. They have technically full control over the articles due to their large numbers. You may argue that Pakistan didn't exist at the time, however the same logic can be applied to any other country including India. Iraq's history dates back to Babylonian times Iranian history dates back to Persian times Italian history dates back to Roman times and so on....

  • Note that none of these countries were known by their modern names at that time.

The people of the indus are the ancestors of today's Pakistanis.

  • Not only are they taking credit for the history of another country, they are also using wikipedia to demonize an entire nation with articles such as christians in Pakistan which was deleted upon my request.

Bakaman and fellow extremist Deeptrvia plan on writing an article on "Pakistan studies" when 99.9% of Pakistanis have nothing to do with it. This simply must stop if there is to be an end to hostility by both sides. They are basically taking credit for the accomplishments of our ancestors while using wikipedia to preach hatred and steroytpes about us.

They push their POV into articles such as Pakistani nationalism by putting lines such as "Pakistani nationalists can celebrate...."

  • People of any nationality would be offended with sterotypical articles against them as well as seeing a foriegn countries banner sitting on their history.

How would Indian users react if they saw the Pakistani flag template sitting on an Indian historic article such the Taj-mahal? Think about that one with full consideration.

I wouldn't be surprised if Saddiqui was provoked into getting himself blocked. This is a frequent problem. If any single user tries to remove Indian POV from the articles, they're reverted within seconds and none of the Indian POV pushers get blocked due to their large numbers when they edit war. And yes they occupy the talk pages as well and harrass anyone in large numbers who rejects their belifs or their methods as they did with me by calling me a "madrassa student" or taunting Unre4L about "Pakistani textbooks".

  • Seeing that it was impossible for a single user to bypass the control of the articles by these Indian nationalists without getting blocked for edit warring,Mr Siddiqui tried to gather other Pakistani users and make them aware(I was already aware and making an effort to rescue these articles from their grip)of what is being said about them on a large encyclopedia (knwon all over the internet, accessible to most internet users around the globe) and try to rescue the articles from the grip of these extremists.

What's very upsetting to me is I can't even place my own national flag on an article about my country or anything related to it while these forigners who have absoloutly nothing to do with it can place their flag.

Until thse Indian nationalists take their banners off our history articles and keep their anti-Pakistan POVs out of any Pakistani or related articles, the Pakistani users will not be satisfied.

Until Bakaman and his countless associates are willing to be reasonable instead of ignoring our arguements and contiuning to make racial comments such as "that's not what your textbooks say" or "stop showing off your madrassa education",there can be no discussion.

There are a couple of other problems here:

  • They refuse to allow anyone to edit the Pakistani or relted articles except members of their own lobby.Any edits are reverted in minutes.
  • When we do increase our numbers in an attempt to rescue the articles from their control, they accuse us of "meatpuppetry" when reverting the articles in their large numbers (ofcourse for each of them not to break the 3RR) is nothing but meatpuppetry.

In other words,it's the pot calling the kettle black.

  • Some Indian administrators such as Ganshk and taxman are part of this ultra-right wing imperialist lobby and try to ban any user who tries to take off the Indian banners off Pakistani history articles or tries to add a refference to Pakistan,or tries to turn it to "south asian" to make it neutral.

Note:Not all Indian administrators are like this. Some of them are Parthi and Mr Deepu Joseph, whom I get along with extremely well with.

I know that you're Indian and understand I have nothing against ordinary Indians or Hindus.I have distant relatives form my mothers side who are Hindu and my father has many Hindu freinds in Pakistan(whom with he recently celebrated dewali with) and I have nothing but respect for them.

Now that you see the background of the problem,I ask you to think about this with an open mind rather than think of me as some "nationalist".

If you're willing to discuss this problem in a reasonable manner,I'd be more than happy to do so. But not until sometime next month.

Until then take care.

infobox[edit]

hey i got block like 2 days ago for breaking the 3rr so dont want to do that again but i think you broke it too now as you removed that section 4 times and the 3rr rule says removing it as whole or partial etc etc but no worries... thing is the "importace" thing doesn't have to be long; just a mini mini mini sentence with sources to prove it. if its plain pov with no source then it doesnt have to be in the tournament article but still keep it in the template as the template works with "if"-if answered it shows up if not it doesn't show up...plus if its explanation takes to long it doesn't have to be included but if it can be explained like in the world cup article(most important in cricket) or the ashes(highly important in england and australia) include it ...but the "importance" section doesnt show up if not answered so any pov/long answer doesn't have to be there...as for the world cup works with it so keep it in the template but dont answer it it other tournaments simple. So can you please undo you revert. If you want to discuss more before undoing it, leave me a message.--Thugchildz

Some rewording suggestions[edit]

I have some suggestions for minor rewording of the background.

The Swastika is an ancient symbol used in Dharmic religions including Hinduism and Jainism. In the 1930s and 40s, Adolf Hitler, used the Swastika as the banner for Nazi Germany and under that banner he conducted genocide against Jewish people. Today, many Western societies associate the Swastika with meaning quite the opposite of what the Dharmic followers believe in.

In January 2007, some users from Wikipedias Jewish community expressed their opposition to the use of the Swastika on Hinduism related templates in Wikipedia. There has since been rigorous discussion at WikiProject Hinduism involving both Hindu and Non-Hindu users alike. This page is for people who have received or seen the Welcome Template Template:Hindu Links to express their views in relation to this discussion. Your views will be taken into account in the final result and you will be helping all of Wikipedia in civilly presenting them. This discussion will be open for a period of one month in which you may write whatever you want (as long as it is within the boundaries of civility).

I'll leave it to you to make any amendments as you may see fir. Great job! Abecedare 06:59, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. I realized that it was in wikipedia space but didn't want to edit it because, (1) it would perhaps have been presumptuous to do so without knowing that you were done with your edits, (2) mainly I didn't want to set a precedent for refining that page, else we would have perhaps spent a month arriving at a consensus version ! IMO it is better if you somewhat unilaterally come up with version, which the other editors find satisfactory for the purpose even if not perfect.:-) Abecedare 07:10, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Lage Raho Munna Bhai[edit]

Hello, Eagle, I went over to the comments from the fellow editors and I think, everything they noted has been addressed. The article seems perfectly perfect to me and I'm not sure what to do - if there's any task I can do, please tell me. Best regards, --Plumcouch Talk2Me 19:23, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Another observation. I don't think it is necessary for making it an FA but in the two World Cup FAs there is a "main page" for almost every section. Eg. FIFA World Cup hosts, History of the Rugby World Cup, FIFA World Cup qualification. GizzaChat © 23:24, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indian template[edit]

some pak was complaining about the indian template on talk pages on articles in history such as indus valley and so on. Says the history took in the region of pak and was pak history. we explained that the paks could also put there templates on it and that the history took place during undivided india. the pak kept saying that the indian flag was offensive and it was indian imperialism. they changed the template to a pic of all of south asia and the pak still wasn't happy. I wasn't too happy about the change. pak flag is still on the pak template. i find that offensive. Too much PC. feel like fellow indians don't even have backbone even on the web.--D-Boy 03:44, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well, there's nothing you can do. Doesn't it make you feel helpless? That's how I feel over the hindu links template. look at it now. It's ugly and bloated. I can't use that now. its worthless.--D-Boy 03:34, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't think it's something to fight about. it's not worth the struggle and personally I have nothing against the flag on their template. I will support if you decide you want to do something about it. By the way, you can always email dabroodey....--D-Boy 04:00, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Template WP India[edit]

I'm sure you know that recently {{WP India}} was forced to introduce a 'pre' factor when it is tagged on talk pages so that the image no longer features the Indian flag on pre-independence articles, which some Pakistani editors saw as insulting. Nevertheless, the Pakistani flag is still visible on all articles, even articles relating to famous Hindus who were born and lived in the West Punjab region long before mentions of Pakistan. You may also have become aware of the Swastika debate at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Hinduism and the resulting break for analysis at Wikipedia:WikiProject Hinduism/Swastika. Here, Hindus may be forced to remove the Swastika from their welcome templates because Hitler used a distorted version of it to launch genocide against the Jewish people of Europe. These things are piling on and on, where compromises are being reached that are inherently biased in that they do not affect the whole of Wikipedia but only the Indian and Hindu WikiProjects exclusively. I've been talking about this with D-Boy, I was wondering what your views are about this. Nobleeagle [TALK] [C] 03:54, 15 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cricket world cup[edit]

thats great! is there a ways you can nominate it for being featured article?--Thugchildz

also the sub section about 1987 - present in the History section , needs to be modified later with about one or two sentences for each world cup(with expceptions where it is need more because it becomes big part of history for the world cup) rather than a whole paragraph for each when there's more world cups held or that section would be come too big. but prior to the world cup and the prudential world cups sections are fine as there are big part of the world cup and is basically the main history.--Thugchildz

the new table is already kind of summarized by the table above it and can be seen in its page so rather leave it on the see also. there is no rule that says pictures should be aligned left or right plus it looks better as its next to its section. and the see also's below every section of the history section is pointless as the is a link to their pages on each of their paragraphs.--Thugchildz

even with the picture its still left aligned it has got nothing to with headlines--Thugchildz

well i just check with both firefox and internet explorer and it doesn't effect the headings so its porbably your browser...we could make the picture bit smaller may be if you want but please let it say on the left side...trust me it looks alot better that way and stay to its section...just listen to be me this time please--Thugchildz

thank you... :D--Thugchildz

hey i just created some article starters that needs huge works. So please help on these following articles so we don't have to put info about the past ones for each section of the main article and just put the current info like in the FIFA World Cup article.

mascots/attendace etc like the fifa mascots

history of world cup like the fifa world cup history so we dont need to have have a paragraph for each world cup in the main article(trim it down to the main/most important things) but please keep the prior to the world cup section and prudential world cups sections the same as they are the main history.

trophy like the fifa world cup trohpy please add info about the past trophies before this if possible.

world cup hosts like the FIFA World Cup hosts

world cup award like the fifa world cup awards

world cup teams like the FIFA World Cup's

--Thugchildz

i have created Cricket World Cup qualification but i dont know if its correctly put together so check it out please. also i updated - Format, Selection of hosts can you please check if its ok because i think some of it needs rephrasing but i just cant think of anything else.

--Thugchildz

hey if you want a good picture of tendulkar for the awards then you could use the one him receiving the the man of the tournament awards from the 2003 world cup as fair use because it's a historical moment for him and the world cup. probably you could use a picture for everyone of those years awards as fiar use.--Thugchildz

hey i was wondering what are we waiting for? why are we not nominating the article now? i can't think of improveing anything else of the article. so why are we not nominating it; even if by any chance there's a problem than we could fix it in time of the world cup if we do it now. so please let me know--Thugchildz
i think it will be better if you do it as you are a more respected user. and also i think it will be a great idea if you let the wikiproject cricket participants know about this and tell them to support the article with a link to the nomination page. so I think since you have done a whole lot on this and is more senior and respected user here you should do it(plus I don't know how;)--Thugchildz

I think you can still support even if you nominated the article looking at the other candidates. I already added my support to the nomination so it would be great if you did too and got other people to support it too. and also great work on the world cup awards and records article, i think you can nominate the records artcle as a FA list--Thugchildz

there have been alot of suggestions made, one is that the "champions" in the infobox be changed to current champions, should we do this?--Thugchildz

i didn't know that but yeah thats fine that you corrected what i did wrong unknowlingly but to the question above^ should we change champions to current champions in the info box as suggested in the FA objection comment? --Thugchildz
the info you added back, is it necessary? because Echostar only has the rights to distribute it in Canada, Mexico, Central and South America and Dutch Antilles and the US--Thugchildz
hey can you take care making sure that the fair use pictures dont "lack fair use rationale", I don't get it, how else is there to make those rationalized; also there is still some problems with References that they have pointed out but i still dont get that because they have the info but please see this two through--Thugchildz
problem is i did yesterday but Indon got mad and moved it to the FAC, so i thought im not suppose; so what is it? also if you do decide to put the trophy picture; than move the trophy up and than swap the 99 world cup pic with the 2003 picture while put the 99 pic next to the trophy section saying 99 was the 1st a parmanent trophy was introduced, something like that but don't change it unless there's and outcry from people not wanting to see australias picture in the lead. the main reason is that landscape and potrait porblem and two the trophy section wont have the trophy but if it has happen than please do as above thanks. best wishes--Thugchildz
why isn't people from the cricket project voting? doesn't matter supporting or not but why are they not voting at all? there's only 2 that's going our way(does the new user whatever count?) also is there any major issue now that needs to be solved because to me there isn't much because I did my best yesterday and you made pictures fair use and fixed the sources etc, so let me know what else theres to do--Thugchildz

An article which you started, or significantly expanded, Cricket World Cup records , was selected for DYK![edit]

Updated DYK query On January 16, 2007, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Cricket World Cup records , which you created or substantially expanded. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Thanks for your contributions! Nishkid64 23:46, 16 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Nobleeagle. I took a look through Vikram Singh and this as well and noticed that you refer to people by their full name a lot. After the first mention, you don't need to say Vikram repeatedly. Also, we should probably have a discussion on the name perhaps Jai Yadav needs to be moved to JP Yadav or Jai Prakash Yadav as well. The other thing is that in an encyclopedia we don't use contractions like "didn't" and that we always use "T" in Test - unfortunately CricketBot seems to only run on the biography articles, so it will not fixit for us. Regarding "Doosra"[edit]

Hello
I am aware your edits were on good faith. And I wasnt accusing anyone for vandalism, merely quoting wiki rules.
However I wanted to discuss the article with you. Here is what I will do.
I will request for someone else to comment on the article, and we can both agree to go with their decision.
But let me just explain what I think.
The Cricket move was invented by a Pakistani, In Pakistan, and his language is Urdu. I dont think there is any need to bring Hindustani into this. The word doosra came from a guy speaking Urdu, therefore the word is Urdu.
There is no need for a description of Hindi, or Hindi writing. There are a lot articles here on wikipedia on Hindi words, and they happen to have to same meaning in Urdu. If we come to the conclusion that its right to have hindi text and description in this article, that will also justify having Urdu text and a description of Urdu in all the hindi word articles.
Please understand this and correct the article. --Unre4LITY 23:13, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I do agree with you about removing all the last names from the 'Template:Castes and Tribes of the Punjab' and adding only generalized caste categories? As it is, I have achieved my goal of attracting some attention to this product of my imagination. I had always wated to showcase the rich Caste and Tribal diversity of our province (The Punjab) to non-Punjabis, especially in India (and to an extent in Pakistan and the globe), for whom a person from that part of India is a person wearing a long beard and headgear and dancing always. But how was I to know that Caste is such a touchy issue still? As such, I do have an account on this website (User:Rajat Ghai). However I no longer use it, since I have forgotten my password.

As for this template, well I have achieved my aim. From now on, yourself and other well-known Punjabi administrators and editors can take over. Thanks again, for reaching out at last. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 210.212.129.66 (talk) 09:57, 19 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Project News
  • Project tagging:After a brief edit war over the addition of {{WP India}} to ancient archaeological sites now located in Pakistan, a "pre" parameter was introduced to remove the ROI flag from the template for pre-1947 articles, following discussion. After another large discussion on ANI alleging that the automated tagging by Ganeshbot and LostBot was "nationalistic", Ganeshbot was briefly blocked. Currently, the bots are again in action.
  • Swastika on Hinduism templates:Recently, an extremely large and at times emotional debate broke out regarding the use of the swastika on Hinduism templates, given its association with Nazism. As a result, {{Hindu Links}} now contains an educational message about the use of the swastika, as discussion on a more permanent resolution continues.
