Draft: YesWeHack

Hi there, and thanks for reviewing my draft 2 days ago. I understand that there is not enough significant coverage in my draft to publish it. The issue I encounter is that the company I'm writing about is French, so full and relatable articles about it are written in French. I was wondering if I could add them? Or if references should only be in English? In the meantime, I've rewritten the article and tried to improve it. Any pieces of advice would be much appreciated! Thanks much. Hello Mathbsnd, French language or any other language is totally acceptable. The only challenge with sources in other language that I particularly face is that it is not easy to determine if it is a reliable source or not. Hey Mathbsnd, starting a new thread here in continuation. I didn't know that I should not edit my archives. Very much thankful for being patient and bringing these french sources also in the mix. I will need some time to analyse them. My constant challenge with sources in other languages is my inability to quickly determine if they are reliable or not. [7] - unfortunately, I don't feel confident to be on-board this one because this doesn't read very independent and is simply a retell of what might have been told to them by the company. There is no independent comments by the journalists.

On the Draft: Shiji Group I found an in depth media coverage of the Chinese company's acquisition of Mycheck. There was already one from CTech [8], which is a prominent publication with news on China technology (about 600k readers a month). Anyhow, do you think this more in depth report by staff writers helps qualify Shiji?[9]

Hello Nomadicgumakkad, Thank you for your feedback regarding an article that I wish to publish. I would appreciate if you can guide me as to what reliable sources you would like to verify the identity of SP Bhargava. As this is about a gentleman who lived till 1962, there is not much information available on the internet. The first reference from 1929 is readily available on the interne validates his existence as pricipal of SD College of Commerce in Cawnpore.He was the principal of the Raj Rishi College at Alwar, unfortunately their website does not contain much historical facts. I do have photographs and printed information from the College's prospective, that SP Bhargava was indeed there till 1946. Would that be a reliable source to publish this article, should I upload them as photographs or submit to you for verification? Thanks

Hi Emmachernandez, So WP:NACTOR requires multiple significant roles. I agree that No Man's Land will count. Can you tell me which other notable work that he has worked in had him in a significant role? Sweet Girl (film) doesn't even mention him. So that can't be significant. Hello Nomadicghumakkad, thank you for your comment on my first draft. I edited Draft:Boyd Mefferd with additional information to address the question of Notability. Since I am new, I was not sure the proper place to answer you, so I am also leaving this note on your talk page.

To answer you directly, I believe Boyd Mefferd meets the standards of WP:NARTIST because he contributed to the early formation of the Art and Technology movement of the 1960s. He was shown in “Art & Technology” an important art show at the Los Angeles County Museum in 1971 that included Robert Rauschenberg and Claus Oldenburg. This show was reviewed by Time, Newsweek, and Artform. He was one of 8 artists at the World’s Fair in 1970. His work is currently in the permanent collection at Des Moines Art Center, the Walker Art Center, and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art.

This is a great news LeeMiro. Can you point me to articles (ideally multiple) that talk about his contribution to the art and technology movement then? I know 1960s didn't have internet; but any archived coverages will also help. Or any references in any books. We have to ensure that his contribution was significant to this new concept. I am not very much sold on being part of a show as such. Not sure where it links with notability. Notability of a show can't be directly inherited to the artist. Thank you, Nomadicghumakkad. These are very good questions that I hope to answer. In my revised Draft:Boyd Mefferd, I cite 5 reviews of art shows Mefferd was in. I also cite two books written about two of the art shows. I can list more art shows if that is helpful. Mefferd was shown a great deal. I also summarized discussion of his work by art critics within these reviews. I apologize for overemphasizing his contribution to the single art show. I misunderstood number 3 of WP:NARTIST. (Edited to add: It's actually number 4, part b that I thought applied, but no matter.)

I will look further afield for discussions of his art in a broader context of the "Art and Technology" movement, as you suggest. The “Art and Technology” movement sometimes dovetailed with Environmental Art and “psychic art,” making it tricky to pin down. It may take me a little while to find good sources.

I do have links to his work at those permanent collections, which I added to the draft. These are highly respected Midwestern art museums. I will try to substantiate this in some way. The NYT reported that Mefferd’s art was in the private collection of Joe Pulitzer Jr. I did not include that because I was not sure it’s notable.

I have been researching more on Mefferd and have located discussions of Mefferd's art in contemporary books written in the last 15 years, which I think speaks to a lasting impact. I wholeheartedly agree about the need for headers and better structure. I confess I didn't add them because I have yet to learn how! This weekend I will have time to research how to do this. I will also add discussions of his art, including your suggestion to include a reference to what critics at the time said. Thank you again for your feedback and guidance. Firstly, thank you for your recent edits, Nomadicghumakkad. I created headers, as you advised, and it’s much easier to read. I added a section on Critical Recognition, which includes quotes from arts reviews by national publications like Time magazine and references to Mefferd’s work in three books. Two of the books are contemporary titles, which I think speaks to his lasting influence. I added Mefferd’s solo shows, a film documentary on Expo ’70 that includes him, and a radio interview with him. The only source I want that I haven’t located yet are high-quality art reviews from Expo ’70.

I have provided multiple secondary sources that meet all of these criteria. For example, there is a TV episode featuring the person the page is about, a radio show, several registered nonprofit organisations who have written about this person, a magazine article and multiple large and credible music blogs who have written about this person. I would argue this meets the criteria of receiving significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other and independent of the subject.

Draft:Shiji Group

Hi Nomadic Nomadicghumakkad. Sorry to be taking so long. Crazy here on Crete with COVID resurgence. In one of the references I suggested earlier, the author goes in dept into MyCheck, why Shiji bought it, what it's for, and so on. Doesn't a subsidiary stand as credibility for the main entity? Let's face it, if I search Wikipedia up and down, finding every entry with a book written about every facet of the core company or person, just is not going to happen. Sorry, I don't want to sound harsh, but this is a multibillion dollar company with over 5,000 employees and offices on most continents. The reason I even started this page was because it just seemed crazy for such companies not to be in the world's biggest library. The second article, I get it, the writer is just rephrasing what happened with MyCheck and the bonuses. Help me figure this out my friend, I just turned 66 and want to edit all the Minoan civilization stuff they are finding here on Crete before I am 80 :) Philbutler (talk) 18:56, 31 August 2021 (UTC)

Hey AngryMushroom, I am not denying this doesn't have potential. I don't read Marathi so I have no means to check the verifiability of a lot of stuff written. What I can tell you is following:

Avoid writing about initiatives (Companies, music etc) that didn't receive significant coverage of their own. For example In 2000, Agashe ventured into financial technology, founding EBZ Online and Codito Technologies. Both companies developed payment solution software for banks
The whole business and music careers are mixing. Might be good to separate them out.
If any of his work is notable, for example, Brihans Natural Products, simply say he founded and move on. No need to provide more info on his page since the company page will automatically have all of that and more. Also, stop giving him credit for something that the company staff would have done and he alone couldn't have. For example, In August 1999, he conducted test marketing of the company's products in Andhra Pradesh. He can't do it all of it alone. Such language specifically sounds promotional
Make it shorter, keep it crisp.

Hi Nomad, thanks for the feedback. Sorry I submitted the draft for review without your permission, i was confident as per HighKing’s advice that I had done a good job.

I chose to write about this company because we had studied it in our finance and banking classes. it’s impact on the banking sector has been quite notable in the last 10 years, and we have studied case studies on it. The CSFI report I cited carried all that info, which I thought was a reliable source that goes quite in depth on the company, it’s products and their impact on the banking sector and their market share in upi but it was too technical in ther terms used for me to utilize properly and so I took whatever I understood. plus there was recognition from reputed associations. if you google the company, there is significant coverage on the company, but i didnt put it because it wasn’t verifying any data on the article.

Please go ahead and remove all problematic data you find on the article, I’m on the move today and won’t get back to a desktop until the evening. If really nothing can be done, i’ll db it.

If the draft on the founder seems to be ok, ill clean it up and submit it for review in the evening. I’ve returned the books on the family so i ll need to get them back if there are significant improvements that you suggest. Sorry, im on a self imposed deadline of the end of Sept because I REALLY need to get back to my studies and didnt expect Wikipedia to take up so much time. ill db the other drafts if there is no hope for them and move on to my real life studies. thanks for understanding! Hey AngryMushroom, it's not about the style but the sources. And from what it seems like, even the BhratPe accept was not the best decision since it was tagged for notability. I still feel that Draft:Sarvatra Technologies doesn't make through the relatively higher standards of notability that we have for the companies. But if any other reviewer feels differently, they may very well accept it. If I would disagree with them, I may nominate it for AFD or try to understand their perspective. Coming to other drafts, I think you should find folks who can read Marathi. I don't think any reviewer who doesn't know the language won't take an initiative since they won't have right capabilities to evaluate. Also, like I had recommended before, best place to get feedback is AFC Helpdesk. A single reviewer might not be able to give enormous amount of time to one user. For example, whatever limited time I have, I try to divide (almost equally) between all people who ask for help so that it isn't unfair along with AFC reviewing. I have been meaning to create some new pages as well but lacking time. WP:TEA & AFC Helpdesk will get you timely help. I went there myself and I thought I would start contributing there but almost all questions were answered! So it seems like a great space to get prompt response. For example, Mid-day says brandmedia, Business Standard says BS Marketing initiative, Telegraph says ABP Digital Brand Studio, DNA says 'It is a featured article' at the end, The Week says focus. The Hindi ones, I might be okay with News 18 (it still doesn't have a staff byline!). Jagran is his opinion on stuff so that's out. Patrika can't be considered WP:RS considering that they publish basically anything. I assure you I did my due diligence before declining this. Happy to answer more questions or discuss this further. Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.

Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.

At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.

There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.

If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.

Hi Nomadicghumakkad. You rejected my AfC on Frans Vera because it was “not adequately supported by reliable sources”, with the comment “Please cite all information. Topic seems notable otherwise.” The published Wikipedia NL article is much less well supported, and I had expanded that article enormously with extensive added sources. These are published papers from academics at reputable universities, or from reliable scientific journals, or from mainstream newspapers. When you say “cite all information”, could you be more specific about which information is now not sufficiently supported? Wikipedia EN is full of accepted articles which request further verification. If you agree notability, couldn’t you re-review and accept this draft with the same proviso? You are correct that the first reference to Baltimore Magazine does not specifically mention Baltimore Fishbowl (just Baltimore Fishbowl's columnist Marion Winik), so that can be removed if needed. However, the other Baltimore Magazine references (from 2012 and 2019) do specifically recognize Baltimore Fishbowl as “Best New Website” and “Equal Justice Audit,” respectively, so those should remain. The second reference that you highlighted (to WYPR’s On the Record program) does not mention Baltimore Fishbowl in the brief text summary, but the radio program goes in depth into the Baltimore Fishbowl’s reporting process for the cannabis article that garnered national attention. The data collected assess factors as access to education, healthcare, housing, quality of jobs and environmental sustainability, providing a more comprehensive picture of progress in a given country or community than mere performance in terms of GDP. This data could support the measure of countries’ success in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). There is no source. Each and every fact has to be cited. Also, citing all of it won't mean it would be accepted. The question of notability still exists. I based the draft on the YPI's big brother wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_Progress_Index). Basically, the YPI is a specification of this methodology. If compared, I think that the page we are drafting is even more thorough with a more detailed explanation of data sources. What do you think?

In my opinion it seems solid since the explanation of data collection and analysis seems convincing and well-supported. Moreover, it has been endorsed by institutions and well-know research group (the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance (International IDEA), the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), the Social Progress Imperative, and the International Organisation of Employers).

I didn't find, so far, the scholar's reviews (but did found references to Forward's works in research articles thanks to your question).

That could be due to these factors:

I'm not a researcher myself, so either may not know where to look for or have access to such possible reviews/mentions.
S. Forward was the most active through the 80s-90s, when the topics she worked with - especially incestuous abuse - were (and maybe are) still a society's blind spot. (And that was happening mostly during a pre-Internet era as well, with fewer possibilities to spread information and to inter-connect.)
S. Forward seems concentrated more on practice rather than academics work, even though it looks a bit strange to me that she didn't seem to publish the results of here work into the academics world (she should have had some reasons for that, of course), since the book "Toxic Parents", for example, in my opinion is comparable to such books as V. Frankl's "Man's Search for Meaning", K. Horney's "Self-analysis", E. Fromm's "The Art of Loving".

Hence, how could this article be better marked as looking for the "critical reception" references?

Thank you for taking time out to review my article on Mother Krishnabai. I see that you've rejected it citing the unreliability of its sources. As a matter of fact, I've used all available published sources for this article. Except for a couple of articles, all of my sources are books published in India. Is that why they have been considered not 'reliable'? I have seen single-line articles, or 'stubs', getting published by Wikipedia. What I have submitted is not a stub, is actually well-researched (I have PhD from a US Ivy League university, so I think I am qualified to judge), and written in good, if not particularly inspired, English. I really don't understand what other sources you think I ought to have cited. I can definitely say that nothing I've written is based on personal experience or heresay, and all my data is backed up by published books and articles. I would be really interested in finding out what the actual problem with the article is.

It's a shame Wikipedia does not have even a mention of such an important woman saint of modern India; this is the only reason I wrote this article.
