Welcome[edit]

Hello, Noobeditor, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. If you are stuck, and looking for help, please come to the New contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Or, you can just type {{helpme}} on your user page, and someone will show up shortly to answer your questions. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the current date. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. Again, welcome! -- MrDolomite | Talk 03:13, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

  • Just a note, if a page has changed drastically, like it did on the Leif Erricson article, you might want to check out the history before editing again. That way you and another editor, possibly one on the other side of the world, don't get into an inadvertant Edit war :-) -- MrDolomite | Talk 03:13, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for experimenting with the page Chicken on Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. -- Gogo Dodo 03:25, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Stub tag on user page[edit]

Hi, I removed the stub tag from your userpage. Please refer to the following Wikipedia policy: What can I not have on my user page?--24fan24 03:28, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Poopertotters[edit]

As they say in the movies, "oh be-have". Seriously, though, we are trying to write an encyclopedia here, so don't make joke edits. Some readers looking for a serious article might not find them amusing. Remember, millions of people read Wikipedia, so we have to take what we do a bit seriously here. If you'd like to experiment with editing, try the sandbox, where you can write whatever you want (as long as it's not offensive). Maybe you should check out Wikipedia:Bad Jokes and Other Deleted Nonsense.

Deleted page "Kbd"[edit]

A page you created, or image you uploaded, Kbd, has been deleted in accordance with our deletion policy. In particular, it meets the one or more criteria for speedy deletion; the relevant criterion is:

Recreation of deleted material. A substantially identical copy, by any title, of a page that was deleted as a result of a discussion in Articles for deletion or another XfD process, unless it was undeleted per the undeletion policy or was recreated in the user space.

Wikipedia has certain standards for inclusion that all articles must meet. Certain types of article must establish the notability of their subject by asserting its importance or significance. Additionally, since Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, content inappropriate for an encyclopedia, or content that would be more suited to somewhere else (such as a directory or social networking website) is not acceptable. See What Wikipedia is not for the relevant policy.

You are welcome to contribute content which complies with our content policies and any applicable notability guidelines. However, please do not simply re-create the page with the same content; it will be deleted again and may be protected from re-creation. You may also wish to read our introduction to editing and guide to writing your first article. If you have any questions, please contact an administrator for assistance. Thank you – Gurch 20:13, 3 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Editing other's comments[edit]

It is not necessary to correct spelling on talk pages. In fact, it is generally forbidden to edit another's comments on talk pages. Please see Wikipedia:TALK#Others.27_comments. Thanks.-Andrew c [talk] 01:40, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A note on vandal fighting[edit]

Good work on catching vandalism. However, please keep in mind that an additional part of this task is warning the users who are committing vandalism. This is helpful in stopping the behavior. Many acts of vandalism are just test edits and it is better to direct them to the sandbox rather than allow them to continue testing edits on articlespace. This also helps to quickly end the acts of users who are destructively editing Wikipedia rather than waiting for someone else to deal with the problem. --Veritas (talk) 03:18, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please be careful on edits you made, such as the one here where you accidentally (I think) reverted back to the vandalism. I'm just letting you know. Thank you, Ctjf83talk 03:39, 29 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Huck Finn edits[edit]

I saw you reverted my edits to Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, but unfortunately neglected to leave an explanation on the Talk page or in an Edit summary. Your revert removed much needed alerts to editors about the need for cites, so I'm curious if this is what you intended or was it an accident. Your interest in the article is appreciated, so I'd like to understand your intent. Thanks.

Your VandalProof Application[edit]

Thank you for your interest in VandalProof, Noobeditor. As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact the just released 1.3 version has even more power. Because of this we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again soon. Thank again for your interest in VandalProof. βcommand 17:24, 9 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

January 2010[edit]

This is the only warning you will receive. Your recent vandalism will not be tolerated. Although vandalizing articles on occasions that are days or weeks apart from each other sometimes prevents editors from being blocked, your continued vandalism constitutes a long term pattern of abuse. The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. 99.155.204.237 (talk) 16:48, 12 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

File source and copyright licensing problem with File:Natelevitan.jpg[edit]

File Copyright problem
File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:Natelevitan.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, we also need to know the terms of the license that the copyright holder has published the file under, usually done by adding a licensing tag. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged files may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the file will be deleted 48 hours after 05:25, 21 January 2010 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ww2censor (talk) 05:25, 21 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
