Hi there!

Hi Robert, it was easy to tell from the rest of your contributions that the Stratiomyidae/Asilidae link had to be a slip, and in fact a far smaller slip than many of mine, so I was not sniggering as I corrected it! I expect to be applying a few edits here and there, but if any of them do not meet with your approval, please feel welcome to revert or re-edit them appropriately. Musician entomologists

Not quite but this man married Lucy Marianne (1821-1875), sister of Dr Henry Wylde and daughter of "an old Derbyshire family". Dale was three years older than his father-in-law but they had two sons both entomologists Charles William (1851-1906) died unmarried and Edward Robert (1853-1903) of self-inflicted axe wounds(!) who did marry and left a son and daughter but I ramble about my (distant) relations. If I add some facts (might be a while) to your article about Dale will you edit out any superfluous bits, please. Best wishes, Eddaido (talk) 02:19, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

This is a bit of a cheek, but you are welcome to ignore it if that is your inclination.

A couple of years back I added a brief entry on a distant relative, John William Scott Macfie, who was an entomologist. I have no idea if he was a good entomologist or a bad entomoligist. Presumably by now he is in any case an "out of fashion" entomoligist. He came from a relatively prosperous and seriously commercial family, and I think his family were surprised, in a proud sort of way, that he was an entomolgist at all. But he was evidently quite bright.

Anyhow, IF you have a moment to check out out the entry and correct or add anything that crosses into one of your own areas of knowledge and interest, that would be interesting for me and would no doubt improve the entry.

Thank you for thinking on it. Regards Charles01 (talk) 10:40, 5 November 2012 (UTC)

Sakontala

Hi Robert. Appears to be treated in most recent books as an insular subspecies of P. polytes. I have added a picture to Platyrhopalopsis although I am determining this merely by appearance. I hope that it is not something confusable. Spent a week in the forests running light traps with some entomologist colleagues. Very interesting time, unfortunately not well equipped to take photographs at night of hyperactive species. Shyamal (talk) 13:23, 15 November 2012 (UTC) PS: removed that Paussine from article. Seems like it has to be separated from Platyrhopalus - will get someone to examine the specimen soon. Shyamal (talk) 13:58, 15 November 2012 (UTC)

Glossary of entomology terms

Hi, I turn to you because you seem to have quite an editing history with entomology articles. I restored the alphabetic order in the article on entomology terms. It surprised me there are two definitions of alula which are not identical, one being inadequate, while the other occurs to be inaccurate. Inadequate is the one now on top which direct to alula, the feathered thumb of a birds wing. Inaccurate is the bottom definition that directs to calypter. Heaving read the calypter article, it seems desireable to add the terms calypter, distal calypter, lower calypter, proximal calypter, squama, squamula, tegula, and upper calypter. Perhaps an extension/clarification of morphology of Diptera, and an addition to the Alula (disambiguation) page could do the job. Sorry for not doing any of this work myself, but I really do not have the knowledge. Kind regards, --Dwergenpaartje (talk) 22:24, 26 November 2013 (UTC)

Perhaps these figures and figure B all the way at the bottom of the page are useful. --Dwergenpaartje (talk) 11:51, 28 November 2013 (UTC)

About edit summaries

Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.

Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. Thanks for your work on the crane fly article! I have been watching it for years to keep people from putting fake common names and misleading info in there. I just gave you the above template because there is often so much vandalism on that article that edit summaries help me and other editors know they are legit edits. You can even set your preferences to never let you save your edits without an edit summary. Cheers, Valfontis (talk) 22:51, 13 January 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 27

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Fauna of New Guinea, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page New Ireland (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.
