Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Right Now (Leon Jackson album). Your edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. This flag once was redpropagandadeeds 14:16, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Please check my IP address, I have nothing to do with Nimbley6. I am trying to make a genuine alteration. I am not familar with editing, and do not know where to defend myself.

Hi
No worries, and thanks for providing a cite. You can defend yourself on the page mentioned above, but to be honest if your IP address isn't in the sock master's range then the SPI checkers will work it out fairly quickly that you're unconnected. I suspect they'll check this talk page, too, and see this conversation!

P.S. I notice you removed the reference you added? Any reason? It looked OK to me? Cheers, This flag once was redpropagandadeeds 15:15, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for listening. I removed my changes because the cite wasn't shown in the references at the bottom of the page.

Got it. I think you may have pasted over the References section; try again maybe?
Incidentally, I've copied your comment above on the Sockpuppet Investigation page. Sorry about all this, there's been an indefinitely blocked user regularly making the same changes you made - though without providing a reference.

Some topics are on a hair trigger

[edit]

You may have a case of bad luck.

There is a persistent vandal affectionately known as Nimbley6 who keeps coming back under new names to edit Scottish-related articles in unproductive ways. These include articles about Scotland, people, groups, and entities from Scotland, and anything connected with Scotland. As a result of his antics several pages are already semi-protected so new accounts and non-logged in editors can't edit them. One of the other side effects of his shenanigans is that any time a new or anonymous editor makes edits to articles he's edited, their edits get scrutinized. If they look the least bit "off" or are even simply non-productive, the editor gets heavy scrutiny.

Imagine if you just happened to look like Elvis, and you walked into a hotel that was hosting a conference for Elvis impersonators. People would understandably mistake you for one of the conference attendees.

As I said, bad luck.

Your best way out is to spend the next few weeks not editing anything related to Scotland or for that matter the United Kingdom. Rack up a couple hundred edits on other topics, and after then, limit your Scotland-related editing to maybe 10-20% of your total editing for the next month or two while you build up a good edit history.

He's got a few other favorite topics but I don't know what they are. Perhaps This flag once was red (talk · contribs) could help you. Ask him on his talk pages what topics to avoid for the next few weeks and you should be okay.

I'm sorry you fell into this trap. However, if I were an oddsmaker, I would say the odds of you actually being Nimbly6 are still well above 1 in 4, which is high enough to warrant suspicion. Please make a fool out of me by editing productively. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 17:30, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Just to add - some editors are on a hair trigger, and probably don't behave as well as other editors ;-)

Well, I have done a lot of editing on the Leon Jackson pages that is, as far as I am concerned, referenced and productive as I have removed duplication of information, and controversial info such as sales figures. I am happy to discuss any change--Notsooldafterall (talk) 10:01, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No argument from me.
Good work on the articles, by the way, the merge in particular is good stuff.
Now please excuse me - I need to spend some time writing a grovelling apology!

No problem, I understand where you are coming from. As a reality TV act, Leon Jackson has his share of over-zealous fans and anti-fans who are going to try to either gloss over or downplay his achievements with no regards for accurate information. Please accept my grovelling apology ;-)

[edit]

Hi!

OK, I think it's 100% safe to say that you are definitely not a sock puppet of Nimbley6, and I am so sorry to have suggested you were.

I have several reasons for saying this: your edits have been stellar - you've sourced them, you've used edit summaries, and you can clearly articulate in correctly spelled English! Secondly, you've discussed your edits, and finally - you've just been reverted by an anonymous IP whose IP address resolves to Nimbley6's ISP! (Congratulations!)

Once again, I'm so sorry about this. I realise you've already taken this well and moved on, but I hope this can continue to be water under the bridge.

Thanks. It's absolutely fine. But now, someone else is undoing my changes!--Notsooldafterall (talk) 17:22, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you mean the anonymous IP, 89.241.79.197, then I'm fairly sure that that's Nimbley6 (it resolves to Nimbley6's ISP). On the X Factor page there's another editor, but they just seem to be working on another area.

Update

[edit]

Just to let you know, the case has been closed. Once again, sorry about this. We're supposed to be welcoming to newcomers and this was certainly not welcoming. Cheers, This flag once was redpropagandadeeds 23:06, 4 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
