Welcome![edit]

Hello, Npondy, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Ian and I work with Wiki Education; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Article issues[edit]

Hi. Your additions to the Euthanasia in the United States article include passages copied verbatim or nearly verbatim from your source. This was detected by automatic plagiarism detection software. For copyright reasons, you can't use content directly from a non-free source - rather, you need to summarise what the source says in your own words. Please review the Plagiarism and Copyright training module before proceeding further. Thanks. Ian (Wiki Ed) (talk) 18:17, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Npondy

We received a message of possible plagiarism from Wiki regarding an entry you made:

Wikipedia's plagiarism detection system picked up an edit from one of the students enrolled in UCSF SOM Inquiry In Action-- Wikipedia Editing.

Npondy made this change to the article "Euthanasia in the United States", which Turnitin/iThenticate matched to published text.

These reports are not 100% accurate. For example, a direct quote with proper attribution may trigger a false positive plagiarism report. Please review the student's contributions and the details of the report before taking any action. (If you find that the change — or the entire article — is not accessible, the content may have been deleted for copyright reasons.)

I suspect this was a cut/paste/post error and am hoping you can review and edit it appropriately. One suggestion for preventing this is It would be better for this student to be working in a sandbox (or even a word processing tool on his/her device before hitting save to make it live on Wikipedia). That way she/he/they eliminates the chance of the iThenticate tool even finding too closely paraphrased content! HermistonM (talk) 17:42, 14 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
