Topic for my paper/article will be Margaret of Parma. Below are the sources i have found as far.

Geyl, Pieter. The Revolt of the Netherlands, 1555-1609. New York: Barnes & Noble Books, 1980 Parker, Geoffrey. Spain and the Netherlands, 1559-1659 : Ten Studies. Short Hills, N.J.: Enslow Publishers, 1979. Steen, Charles R.. Studies in Medieval and Reformation Traditions Ser. : Margaret of Parma : A Life (1). Leiden, NL: BRILL, 2013. ProQuest ebrary. Tremayne, Eleanor. The first governess of the Netherlands: Margaret of Austria. Ulan Press, 2012

Question: How was the role of Margaret of Parma beneficial/detrimental to her political role in the Netherlands?

For this topic, i can add more details on her role in the netherlands, as well as improve some of the research that is already there by adding more solid evidence.

Dear Nicole, A good start. One concern is that the book by Eleanor Tremayne, while scholarly, was originally published in 1923 (one reference says 1908). This sources may be fine for the Wikipedia article, but you'll need more more for the research paper. Although identified as an important biography (even to this day), is the Tremayne biography the most recent?

For your research paper in particular, I would like you to look a little harder for more sources that are more recent. I'm not saying that you can't use the Tremayne source, just make sure that there is not other important, more recent scholarship (like Steen's article) out there. Keep searchingthe library catalogs and databases -- you can even consult Steen's bibliography to see what recent sources he has used. The other sources seem fine for background information, and perhaps they have chapters about Margaret within them. As you read, pay attention to what your sources say about Margaret and gender. Where are they similar? Where are they different? From your observations and notes, what research question emerges? At this initial stage of your research (for your research paper), stay open. When you submit a Prospectus, you'll be asked to advance a working thesis that is only strengthened by how you deal with counter-evidence, counter-arguments or alternative approaches. that you encountered along the way.

You'll make an important and relevant contribution to Wikipedia, and I look forward to reading your research paper.

HI, Nicole Rangel I Think this will be a great to add to Biography section it's short but has all the main points like a typical wiki article. I Also think it would be a great idea to add some of your sources, noting where you received the information --Tavia619 (talk) 04:42, 11 April 2017 (UTC)tavia619[reply]
