MBARI links and potential COI[edit]

Thank you for being conscientious about your potential conflict of interest. I've updated the links as you've requested. However, updating broken links is permissible, even if you have are affilitiated with the subject of the article (or the linked website). See WP:COIADVICE, item #4. While requesting assistance from other editors where you have a COI is commendable, it may take months for somebody to notice the requested edit on a low-traffic article (I happen to have Stellamedusa ventana on my watchlist, but it's pretty much a miracle that I bothered to check what other edits you've made and noticed the requested edits for the research vessels). As updating broken links is permissible, it might be better in the future just to do it yourself. In the case of RV Zephyr, I'm not sure that it's worth retaining the MBARI link, as MBARI no longer owns the vessel, and apparently doesn't have any information about it on their website. Removing links where there's a COI potential shouldn't be a problem, as long there's no chance that doing so could be perceived as burying a scandal or controversy.
