Thanks! I think my role as a "data curator" (for archaeological research data) most closely matches this role: Wikipedia:CURATOR
Any tips or guidance on doing this appropriately would be greatly appreciated! OCEric (talk) 22:01, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
The declaration on your user-page is a good start. I would avoid adding further links to the project on specific articles, and instead inform those interested on the WikiProject Archaeology talk of updates, as you are now doing. The jury is out on weather your going to get many in-bound links from wiki, but highlighting the resource is certainly going to help our project, which hopefully is a type of reward. Best, Ceoil (talk) 23:14, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
OK Thanks!
Open Context doesn't monetize traffic (no ads) and has strict privacy protections (Open Context: About - Terms of Use and Privacy Policies), so traffic isn't the goal. We're trying to encourage more reuse of the Creative Commons licensed materials we publish (especially image media) in relevant Wikipedia articles.
I'm very happy to mainly play a role in the WikiProject Archaeology talk discussions about the reuse of open research data and media relating to archaeology. OCEric (talk) 23:38, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Great! As you've prob guessed wiki can be a harsh environment, haha, but to say thanks for work so far and kudos for so quickly navigating the back end and finding the people who might most benefit from and be receptive to yer project. No easy task! tks and best, Ceoil (talk) 00:19, 15 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
